  1. I believe I've moved to the shooting black hole. Is there ANYWHERE to shoot within 1/2 hour of the 20/95 interchange in Florence SC? Private land or otherwise, I gotta make a gun go bang soon... HELLPPP!!

    Dry Ink...

Cackalacky is an endearing term used amongst residents... BUT when an outsider uses it, they are usually using it in a derogatory manner TOWARDS Carolinians.
  3. Not true. Seems to be a pretty good mix of both. Todd and Robbie shoot fiber. Travis uses serrated black. Nils won nationals last year with fiber. mostly irons. I think FO front is a great training tool for beginners to focus on the front sight.

    Dry Ink...

The ink is officially dry. We have moved to Florence, bought a new house, sold the old house and are now South Cackolackians. Yes, Virginia, in 2011 you can still sell a house and buy a new one. The best part is that its CHEAPER to buy than rent by a long shot and interest rates are absurdly low.
  5. We're moved. Old house is sold and new house is STARTING to look like a home. Now I need an electrician to wire the shop and dirt to shoot on in Florence!
  6. Try it from this perspective... I got a phone call from a buddy a few weeks ago. "Come Shoot this weekend"... well I was out of town with nothing more than a 5" STI that's my truck gun and a single 126mm mag. My response was "I have nothing but a gun". His response? I'll loan you mags, ammo, mag pouches and a holster. Try that with a Tanfoglio. I like the Witness. I think you can get a great trigger out of it, it handles well, points nicely and is generally an excellent platform. BUT its not well supported, parts distributors are more scarce than STI parts, and there are FAR fewer folks shooting one. Its nice to have 50 shooters at a match all have spare parts for your gun.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't push a Glock mag out to 1.180 in the first place..... so that's a moot point.
  8. Actually we have been testing it for years. Millions of rounds. Meanwhile.... Vit themselves shows more than one n320 load that makes major in .40 at a factory length.
  9. Virgil finished my 6" with a beadblasted/ matte hard chrome after he built it. I REALLY like the matte finish for wear and tear, but its boring. Bi tone is so sexy.
  10. I'd hazard that that is one of the most popular loads in .40 if not THE most popular. I've personally shot nearing 75k rounds of it. I'd bet on this forum alone we could count for MILLIONS of safe 180gr MG/ N320 rounds. Work up to major and watch for pressure signs. What's the gun?
  11. New house in Florence closes on Monday. Movers arrive at old house on Tuesday. I expect to be wheels up on Friday and in Florence by that evening. The old house is pending sale as well and is supposed to close on the 16th. With ANY luck, I'll be settled up financially and unpacking by the 18th.
  12. Pretty darn good for a family that lost everything they owned a month ago!
  13. I did Chrono for A8 and VA/ MD section a couple of years ago back ot back. I broke the first puller (just like that one) in about an hour. We had a second one that was identical and its still going strong.... hundreds of bullets later. Seems to be "hit or miss". pun intended.
  14. I have TONS of nickel. Never a lick of problem with the rare exception of a primer that pushes out and pulls back in.
  15. I think I'm gonna go play drums on my iPhone. Fair winds and following seas, Steve!
  16. I think of it more like lingerie for my guns rather than being snobbish. Why hide a masterpiece with kydex? I did that for 2 years as match director. Now it's time to let it see some sunshine.
  17. All true. But my expensive race gun LOOKS sexier in the racemaster!
  18. I have the RaceMaster and a DOH. I've been using the DOH for the last 2 years since I was MD and didn't want my pretty guns getting banged up. I bought the RM after I stepped down as RM and have been using it a lot. Its definitely faster on the clock. I've shaved a SOLID .15 off my draw.... but except for classifiers, who cares? I'm back in the bikini holster b/c my guns are too cool to hide. The DOH did it all well. The only thing I changed was I added a knob to the top screw so I could adjust tension.

    Nationals

We reported scores electronically for Fredericksburg and I started seeing them recently. Its a GREAT innovation. Kudos!
  20. They're 4 weeks behind and lost 100% of their personal items down to their toothbrushes... patience.
  21. I put metal grips on 3 of my SVIs and was able to continue to use my existing magazines. One part that does change, however, is the trigger - the one for the metal grip is a few thousandths wider. Just to be clear, which grip did you install on the 3 SVI's that you were able to keep using your existing magazines? (Did you use SVI grips or STI and which size please?) I'll answer for him......SV grips Did the Kool Aid make your tongue a funny color? Fanboi.
  22. I agree with Trace. Its ALL about finishes on game day. IMO classifiers aren't much of a measuring stick. Winning 1st C at a major match isn't winning at all... its finishing 89th out of 125. Shoot it all to the best of your ability.
  23. As many of you know, the Tripp's suffered total devastation of their home in the recent fires in Bastrop, TX. The Tripp Research manufacturing facility is located on the same piece of property and there has been some conjecture regarding the status of their business. I have spoken with Shari Tripp directly this afternoon and can confirm without a shadow of a doubt that Tripp Research is 100%. The shop and its contents are whole and they are working feverishly to catch up on 4 hellish weeks and get back to business. If you have an outstanding order with them, please be patient. They're doing their best in the face of adversity and will fill orders as quickly as humanly possible. If you're considering placing an order with Tripp Research, PLEASE do not hesitate. The quality of their product has not been compromised in the slightest AND the continuing success of their business depends on their customers. Most importantly, they were able to escape the fire and are strong folk who will rebuild bigger and better. Keep them in your prayers. Seth Markowitz
