  1. A 21 round mag is just that.. holds 21. But its so crammed full that it'll only lock in with a firm shove and would be impossible to use for a reload on a stage. A RELOADABLE mag will lock in at speed during a stage. Modifying the followers is easy. Knock off the tab that hits the slide stop with a dremel.
  2. Do they allow assault handguns with headlights and big clips in the People's Republic of Maryland?
  3. Don't be surprised if I pay my buck and play my luck a few times! We're moving to somewhere around the greater Florence/ Myrtle Beach area. I realize that's a 70 mile radius, but that's the general area. The wife is in admin at Marion Regional.
  4. Thanks, but October 1st is more likely...
  5. Frankly we could argue the point forever but what's he point? I have zillions of mags that all work. Not one has ever been tuned. I can take a mag from anyone and it will work if the OAL isn't TOO long. The barrels aren't throated for longer than 1.185". If you could run 21 round mags without fear, wouldn't you?
  6. It is what it is. I have 2 2011s built by Virgil tripp and have never experienced a jam in 50k ish round with the exception of a 357 case that got punched out to 40.
  7. My stuff NEVER jams. Never. And sometimes you need an extra shot or two on steel. Having a deeper mag allows you to stick to plan.
  8. Says the guy living in Ohio?
  9. Hey guys... My wife and I are moving to SC on September 1st. She's in administration at Marion Regional and we're looking for advice regarding a nice, upscale community in the area. We're thinking within 1/2 hour of Marion ---- so from about Conway to Florence. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have a 4 year old daughter thats going to need school and an executive wife that likes fancy shopping/ dining. Thanks. seth
  10. All of my original SV tubes with Bolen springs/ Followers and SNL base pads hold 21. Some are reloadable, some aren't. To make the combo gauge legal, the rear of the feed lips need to be knocked down about .020" with a file. Bolen followers CAN stick in STI tube and then you have a 19 round pepper shaker. Grams followers work flawlessly in STI tubes. I have tried the Dawsons and think little of them... they give away an entire round of capacity in every tube I tried. I have a stack of 140mm tubes and the dawsons didn't pass muster.
  11. Fredericksburg Shooters: The August 2011 USPSA match at Fredericksburg will be my last as Match Director. My wife has been promoted and we will be moving to South Carolina the first week of September. This creates an opening in Fredericksburg for a new Match Director OR Match Directors, if a group of people wanted to divvy up responsibility . The job truly isn't that difficult and requires little more than the dedication of a couple of days the first weekend of each month. The first match that the new MD will put on the ground will be in October. Walls and fault line for Area 8 will still be up.Anyone that is interested should contact myself and/or Gene as soon as possible. Since I will be putting the August match on the ground, I can also show folks what the job entails next weekend. Thanks for all the support, camaraderie and fun. Its been a privilegeto get to know so many great people and I am honored to call many of you my friends. Seth
  12. It does make sense.... but I can't see going to anything different unless my sight fails. I get all the info I need from a sight picture that isn't confusing. I haven't been sorry to ditch the fiber once in 2 years.
  13. 165gr MG JHP @ 1.170" with 5.4gr N320 180gr MG CMJ @ 1.175" with 5.1gr N320 Both loads are about a 172pf out of Schuemann Ultimatch 6"
  14. I prefer my guns light. Both my 5" and 6" guns weigh in at 36oz and I can tune an oz out of both with a mainspring housing swap if I want it lighter, but I like the weight in my hand. I have spent a LOT of time working on my grip strength and have found that a strong grip and light gun is faster for me.
  15. All mag tubes, all spring/ followers work 100% in both my 5" and 6" guns. Old SV tubes with bolens stuff nets 21 rounds in them, some reloadable, some not.
  16. I have a backup. Its NEVER left the bag. Ever. Tripp builds the best guns...
  17. How on earth did you get Lavalle to do a paint job for you???? That's amazing.
  18. I run a .085" NON fiber. The fiber proved to be less accurate and more of a crutch in my hands. `
  19. Good news. You're close to a lot of matches, including frericksburg, the best match in area 8!
  20. I screw up my own match month after month. Hard to do both with any level of proficiency...
  21. Its funny..... as a shooter, I don't care where you put the targets. On the line or not, I know the rule and do my best not to break it. As a match director and stage "implementer", I worry about a bunch of other stuff that makes the comments like "I don't believe in 180 traps" seem so silly. I believe that I worry about where each and every round, shot by each and every competitor goes. I worry that they ALL are captured by the berm as we intend. I worry that I don't put the ROs, the shooters and the spectators in positions that are dangerous. I try and envision EVERY screw up a shooter can make and control the variables that I can. No... I can't fix stupid, but I can do my best to contain it. I don't care if you break the 180 and get DQ'd. I care if you aim a gun at my friends or break a shot that isn't in a safe direction.
  22. I try to avoid allowing shooters to put themselves into situations where they make bad decisions. While I do feel strongly that a target at 179* is perfectly fine, I also feel that I can easily remove the temptation to engage that same target at 185* with creative wall/ no shoot placement.... at least at a club level.
