  1. As a certified FNG, I lack the experience to tell you all the things NOT to do. However, I can only impress upon you the same thing that was impressed upon me: YOU'RE RUNNING AROUND WITH A LOADED GUN. ACT LIKE IT. Lets assume you have an ND into the air and miss the berm. That bullet has to land somewhere -- hope its not on my head. Not one person here expects you to be going at 100 mph as a unclassified or D class shooter. They expect you to concentrate on fundamentals, learning to play the game and being safe. Everything else WILL come with time. As much as I hate to admit it, its all true.
  2. Sean, Embrace the Suck!!! Seth (see you in F-burg.)
  3. That's be a more productive way of looking at it!
  4. Dan, I LEARNED a great deal from it. I got the classifier I needed to make C in single stack about 5 minutes later. I had the best stage I ever ran 2 stages after that. It knocked me down to MY level and made me focus on SEEING. Overall, it was a good match for me, but that one stage was a disaster.
  5. I don't even know why I'm bothering to write this. The mistakes were so atrocious, I'm shocked.... but whatever. Horny Toad Stage.... Somehow I got the open gun cadence into my head. Now I'm no A class open gun shooter... I'm a D class FNG. But we were squaded with A bunch of A class open guns and I thought for a second that I could just forget everything I've learned in the last 4 months. Basically no site picture, no trigger control, no visualization... just that darn cadence in my head. 130 points of penalties on a 120 pt stage. I could've shot WAY slower and done tons better. Basically the worst stage I've shot since the FIRST stage I EVER shot. And to top it off, it pulled me out of a solid SS finish and dropped me at the bottom of the list. ARGH... The truly humiliating part is that SA Friday was my RO and he'll be here in a minute to tell you how truly atrocious it was. Seth (I did shoot the classifier in 9.77, which was a 60% run and enough to bump me to C in Single Stack -- at least I earned that)
  6. Matt Mclearn in AZ is top shelf as well.
  7. I feel dirty after reading this....
  8. AH HA! Is there a solution commercially available or do I need to fab one?
  9. I'm asking the question wrong. Are the only mags CA legal for a 2011 the 10 round STI mags or is there a block for a standard mag that is acceptable?
  10. I didn't have the mags before I left. So I read its a felony to bring them in. What mags are legal?
  11. Can someone please confirm that an STI that I own prior to moving to CA is legal? I have read the posts and the law, but don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about it. I lived in CA from 1998 to 2004 and are considering moving back.... with an STI Edge. I realize I can't bring the hi caps... so what mags do you guys use? Seth

    over & under Shotgun

We have a couple of fantastic sporting clay ranges around here. I don't compete, but I do enjoy a sunday's 'golf' match as often as feasible. I shoot a Beretta 390 that I got for a song. Look at the WalMart version as well. Not as fancy as the 'full' model, but nearly every bit the same gun. The equipment race in clays almost seems worse the USPSA. These guys show up FULLY geared up to play with their golf carts/ side by sides and seriously expensive trucks. The $3000 gun is cheap compared to the support equipment.
  13. WOW That's really light. My Edge weighs 39.4oz. Sheesh! Nice job.
  14. I know and agree. I still applaud your convictions...
  15. I'm not 100% sure that they demonize us, which is what keeps me. Based on their written policy, it appears that they just don't want to open themselves up to liability. I do remember the letter from eBay about the VT shootings, but ultimately their policy doesn't read anti gun, it reads anti loss of profit if they get sued.
  16. I applaud your convictions. For me its a tough choice... I find myself conflicted. I understand why ebay/ Paypal have chosen to protect themselves from liability by simply eliminating the potential for trouble but would prefer that they show some spine. I use both services frequently as I do a lot of business online.
  17. I keep hitting 20, but can't do any better....
  18. I'm going to play with it a little for sure. I just stole load notes from a buddy and backed it off a hair. I'd like to see if I can't get it down some, but I like not having to worry about making PF. 170ish makes me happy.
  19. I can't find a picture of the kit online. Its a kit I got from a craft store.
  20. I have a pound of N320 and the remains of a 3# universal, so I'm focused on those 2 right now. Once they're both gone, I'll continue to experiment with some other loads. I am really enjoying playing with the options and tayloring it to my tastes. After the two aforementioned are gone, I'll probably give E3 a try, since I have no experience iwth it yet. I use Clays in my .45 loads and love it...
  21. I just finished chrono'ing the first rounds of my load for Limited. 180 gr. Montana Gold CMJs over 5.5gr Universal Clays loaded to 1.185" -- this is a slight mod of a buddy of mine's pet load. Chrono'd at 174 all day long in the 100 degree heat. Really nice, controlable recoil and clean as a whistle. 200 rounds and the only real indication that the gun was shot was the little gold flecks everywhere -- and almost zero smoke. The best part is that the Aftec I installed last week ran flawlessly. Limited here I come! Seth
  22. Yep. Such a simple thing to do with a little patience. I just bought a higher end woodburning tools with some interesting tips to try some different things. Great job!
