  1. Congratulations to the top 8 shooters in the finale. Huge thanks to the staff working the event. My appreciation to all the sponsors' support. And an even bigger thanks to Chad, Pete, and 3 Gun Nation for organizing this awesome show. They got primetime television, a ton of media coverage, and happy spectators, in Las Vegas. This was epic for all who love 3 Gun as much as I do. Kalani
  2. The drop at 200 yards is about 2". I just hold a little higher on the target. I use the dot for 10 yards to 225 yards. Kalani
  3. IdahoShooter - The "Ban State" Compliant Model 3G rifle should have a fixed stock and a pinned comp. The comp should not be welded. If you run across one that is, please let me know. The STAG Arms customer service is really good and quick. STAG usually goes above and beyond what is expected. Kalani
  4. I saw that Midway released their 2-Gun Drag Bag in a 56" length. My buddy got one before Christmas. It is a beast of a bag! Kalani
  5. mrredbeard, Sounds like you have received a Model 3G in "Ban State" Configuration. Let me know if you have any more questions regarding your STAG rifle. You can also email me if you like. Kalani
  6. I have not had to modify my support hand placement due to the integral top rail. I really like the shape and diameter of the Samson Evolution Handguard and am adding them to most of my rifles. Kalani
  7. I was able to squeeze in an hour at the range this afternoon. Ran through eight magazines of HSM 9mm. GTG! Judging by my Mk 1 Mod 0 Internal Hand Held Chrony, seems to be equal to WWB in terms of Power Factor. Accurate too. Kalani
  8. Has anyone tried the Hornady Steel Match in 9mm in an S_I? The OAL seems awfully short. Have you guys shot it over a chrony? I guess I'll have to try it myself. Kalani
  9. Big thank you to the staff, competitors, ROs, and sponsors. Larry put on a seamless match. His hard work and determination really showed. Congatulations to Division winners and Huge Props to Tyler Payne for taking First Place in Tac Optics! Kalani
  10. Jessie and I are encouraged to look for the competitive edge. We are constantly T&Eing new product. STAG Arms does not want to be complacent or sit on their hands. They have been very receptive to design improvements from the team. Jessie is running a Titan brake on his rifle. I believe he is using a lightened carrier and maybe an adjustable gas block. I prefer to use a Rolling Thunder brake on barrels 18"+. I like the recoil impulse produced by the rifle length gas tube combined with a stock carrier. Kalani
  11. Disclaimer up front: I shoot for STAG Arms and spent 2 months developing the final design of the 3G rifle. That being said, I'll try and be as objective as possible. I own both rifles. I have shot about 400 rounds with the DPMS and about 3000 rounds out of the STAG. Both rifles are similar on paper. Adjustable stocks, aftermarket triggers, FF handguards, 18" 1in8" SS barrels. Main differences include Magpul CTR v Magpul ACS, JP trigger v Geissele trigger, 12" v 15" FF handguard. Choose your flavor. Both are accurate. I can shoot sub MOA with both rifles with 69gr SMK over Varget. I can hit anything out to 650 yards with both rifles. The STAG handles a little different than the DPMS. The combination of a lighter handguard and full fluted barrel on the STAG rifle makes the rifle feel less "front heavy" than the DPMS. Good for shorter stages, but I personally like a little more weight to the front of the rifle for the long range, supported rifle shots. Both companies support 3Gun. DPMS has been around a lot longer and is a great company whom I support and have sent a lot of business to, especially since they introduced the 3G1 rifle. However, STAG has jumped into the 3Gun market with both feet. They have been a Gold sponsor or a high level sponsor at just about every Major since Rocky Mountain 3G. In the end, I would say try and get your hands on both rifles and see which works better for you. If you ever see Jessie or myself at a match, we would be glad to let you put some rounds down range. I know Jesse has even loaned out a rifle for a whole match so the shooter could get a better idea of its true potential. Hope this helped. Kalani
  12. Please change the date. Not only will some shooters not be able to make it, but I'm sure some sponsors would have to miss this match also. Kalani
  13. I'd recommend the Burris MTAC. Good value, BDC, and impressive illumination. Kalani
  14. That golf pairing idea sounds awesome! A leaderboard would be fun for shooters and spectators. Kalani
  15. I feel in order for 3 Gun Nation to be successful, non 3 Gunners have to watch the show. To that extent, there needs to be "made for tv" stages at these events. Whether they are part of the match or just the shootoff is up to 3GN. My own daughter would rather watch Top Shot over 3GN right now (unless I'm on 3GN) because the targets are visible and she can see what the shooters are aiming at. Me personally, I am happy watching videos which solely show the shooter. Technique, speed, and smoothness is what I look for. But I am going to watch 3GN no matter what. I like the idea of following a few shooters an episode. It allows the viewers to get to know the shooters. Filming the shooters throughout the match brings us to the tv problem. Again, most of the stages at these events are not "made for tv" and the viewer might not grasp the overall difficulty and/or excitement we, as shooters, get to experience. I would like to see the following: Highlight a few shooters every episode with a short interview and some clips of some badass runs from that event. Spend half the episode on the Shootoff. But the shootoff has to change. 3GN has control of how the shootoff is setup and can make it as tv friendly as they want. Better targets for one. Also, who doesn't like slow motion? It's the only reason I watched Van Damme movies when I was younger. Kalani
  16. This sounds like it will be a good one. Will have to look at the schedule. Kalani
  17. Holy cow this thread has train wrecked. I want to thank the Marines, the staff, the shooters, 3 Gun Nation, and especially the RO's. Congrats to the division winners. Big, huge props to my buddy Rustin. No one else in this world I would rather have smash me on camera than him. Although I think he might have snuck in a .40 pistol into our shootoff. Kalani
  18. I have just returned to shooting after a minor injury/surgery would not allow me to even hold a gun for the past 5 weeks. In the past few days, I found my offhand rifle shooting and pistol recoil management to be absolutely horrible. It was mind blowing when my 9mm Edge felt like a fricken hand cannon. I initially thought the recoil spring must have taken a really bad set or was flat out missing. I was super shaky with my rifle. Everything else was pretty good, from movement to transitions to weapon manipulations. Contrary to what others have posted here, my shotgun loading was on par or even slightly faster than before my hiatus. Think all my bad habits and conscious thinking was erased or something. I just DID it and it was smooth. One thing I did over the past few weeks was a lot of "air gunning". I think that hurt the most. Hope this helps.
  19. Really glad you are ok, Jesse. That is one serious Ka-Boom. It is really crazy how the picatinny rail is intact. You can mount it on the forearm and run backup irons?
  20. Will there be a range available for sight-in/zero confirmation on Wednesday or Thursday? Thanks, Kalani
  21. Thanks for the fast replies. I'll give Academy a call tomorrow.
