  1. That was my thought. I would hate to have a screw work out in a part that gets a lot of movement/jarring. Thanks for the insight.
  2. Thanks. I am running the extended SS guide rods on my g34s. Is there a reason guys are running the captured versions?
  3. I thought so too, but before I tried it, I was going to just go to Zev's website and order another to get this project started. Zev, however, doesn't list a SS guide rod for the Gen4 Glock 17s. So long story short, I didn't want to try it and not be able to take the pistol back apart if it doesn't fit or risk bending parts on one of my competition pistols before the TX Open since my 34s run 100%.
  4. Okay, I did some searching and didn't really find what I am looking for. Long story short, I traded for a Gen 4 Glock 17 and I would like to set it up as another Production gun. I currently run 2 G34s Gen4s and have been using uncaptured guide rods with Zev's reducer washer. When I went to look for parts today, I didn't seem to fin much out there similar to this. It seems most of what's available is captured guide rods set to the spring you want. Am I missing something? I would like to stick with a stainless steel uncaptured guide rod but the only ones I found appear to have a screw or something in the tip of the guide rod. None of the descriptions on the websites are very telling. Can anyone who has set up their Gen 4 G17s guide me on this as far as parts. Thanks guys.
  5. I have used both and like both; however, I recently bought a set of 6 of these : http://www.benstoegerproshop.com/Glock-Easy-Off-Aluminum-Extended-Basepad-p/gl-sf1.htm I like them much better. They are the easiest to get off. They are also much cheaper. I have run them through a match and long practice session so far on some pretty rocky and then muddy bays. They held up great and worked 100%. They add an additional .6 oz to the gun also, just a heads up if you are trying to stay under weight. Any of the 3 brands would be an improvement and will help you on your mag changes with practice. I shot better this past weekend than I have in a long time. I think the gear was definitely part of the equation. I hope that helps.
  6. With as many guys in my area that are starting to shoot night matches, I thought this write up might be helpful for everyone looking for a solid light to add on their 3Gun rifles. Heads up, it's a LONG and in depth review of the light by one of the guys on our marksmanship team. I typically have run SureFires, but I am thinking this in a QD mount might be a good way to go. It seems to take abuse pretty well for all the guys that spear their rifles into the dump barrels. http://apdmarksmanshipteam.org/blog/pflexpro-flashlight-review/
  7. Great response! Thanks for the insight. All my trigger time has been with a 5" Dawson in 40, SA RO 1911 and Glock 34s in Production. The 5.4 sounds like it maybe a natural for me, but I am still a little hesitant on a 6". Almost all the sight trackers that long in my area seem to be 9mm guns for 3 G. I wonder if some trigger time on them would be helpful or deceiving for making my choice. Any thoughts?
  8. Thanks guys. Trying to exercise some control... Looking at slide lock/thumb rests and slide rackers too... Been a while since I had significant time behind a 2011 (7+ish years since I shot Limited with a 2011) and I am seeing a lot of "new" styles and builds out there. Thanks for the responses.
  9. Can yall give me a crash course, with lots of pictures and details, on what the guys shooting sight trackers in Limited are running. Trying decide between a 5" and a 6" gun. I am sure, like everyone else, I am trying to find a balance between the extra sight radius and having a gun that steers well. Seems like a lightened 6" Sight tracker maybe the way to go, but just wondering what the guys with trigger time on them think. I currently have a 5" long/wide Ramped STI frame that I was planning on using, but I can obviously get it chopped or sell it. This is going to be solely for USPSA Limited.
  10. Alright. Confirmed - 27.9oz with the Shockbottle base pads. Here's my set up, now complete: Gun - G34 Gen 4 Zev Competition Spring kit and V4 Race connector (trigger parts heavily polished) TTI Sights Jager Stainless Steel Guide Rod w/ 11lb ISMI recoil spring Zev Guide Rod Reducer Washer Factory 17rnd mags with Shockbottle base plate Belt Set-up - CR Speed Belt 1.5" Safariland Mag pouches Ben Stoeger Pro Shop Boss Hanger with Comptac Holster Arredondo 1.5" Keeper ** I think I may trade out the safariland pouches for these Ghost pouches - http://www.benstoegerproshop.com/Ghost-360-Universal-Magazine-Pouch-SG-MAG-p/sg-mag.htm Does anyone have experience with them? **
  11. I am picking up the new Shockbottle base pads tomorrow and my BOSS holster. Once I get kiddo down for a nap, I will weigh everything to confirm I still make weight and I will throw up some pictures of my rig if anyone is interested. I made A Class recently with this pistol set up. Hoping to do well at Double Tap, TX Open and Area 4 with it this year. Still working at shooting consistently instead of flashes of brilliance followed by mediocre times and an epic failure. Gun has been 100%..... Me..... not so much haha. But I am excited about shooting Production this year and hopefully Single Stack in the fall.

This. It also allows me to still make weight in Production Division for USPSA. I have about 2K+ rounds on mine with an 11lb spring and really like the way the pistol tracks with the 124 RN 9mm I am using (130Pf).
  13. Here's what I am currently running on my two Glock 34s Gen4s for production. They make weight, 27.3oz with factory mags. http://apdmarksmanshipteam.org/blog/rocking-glocks-part-3-trigger-and-recoil-system/ TTI Sights, SS guide rod, Zev Reducer Washer, 11lb spring, Zev Competition Kit (springs and disconnector) with lots of polishing. I have enough weight to play with I am going to be adding Shockbottle EZ off base pads from the BSPS this week.
  14. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I am going to try some polymer grips that look like they will be lighter. I might need to sell my SA magwell/MSH and pick up an aluminum one. Definitely liked the way the gun felt with the full length guide rod, so I'd like to be able to cut enough to make one work (Briley looks like the ticket) and get my ambi safety on there. The gun seemed to lock up tighter with the full length guide rod. Definitely glad I am doing some work to this pistol as I get things geared up for the custom build. Custom is going to get tri topped, so that will help. Caspian Carbon Steel frame has been ordered. Thanks for the help fellas.
  15. Dang, I got a bunch of xmas parts in and I am over weight on my SA RO 1911 in 9mm. I had a toolless guide rod, VZ Operator Grips, S&A Magwell/MSH and came in at 44.7 I went back to the GI guide rod, VZ grips and S&A Magwell/MSH and came in at 43.5! Looks like I am going to have to drop the VZs and get some wood grips. I wanted to put an ambi safety on it and a Dawson FO Front Sight, but I don't think the ambi will make weight. The front sight shouldn't be an issue once I get it swapped.
  16. Got a toolless guide rod, new recoil spring, S&A magwell along with some other parts for xmas... Coming along nicely!
  17. Here's the next write I did on this pistol with some more detailed pictures and observations. http://tacticalgunreview.com/glock-19-atei-rmr-project-detailed-look/
  18. So the front of the follower is overhanging the front lip on the mag? Did you get a picture? Looking to start setting up some mags, so pretty interested in this. Thanks!
  19. Finish, weapon light rail, adjustable novaks and a tac magwell are the differences over an Eagle that I am aware of. I've shot one and it's a great shooting pistol. I really enjoyed it, but I only got to put about 200 rounds through it and it was on a plate rack.
  20. Gotcha. You are my BE hero today Sir!! Can you add me to the list? TY47760
  21. Happy to help. I don't know why there's not a thread. I don't know of a reason why the script I use for the current races wouldn't work for M and GM as well. I'd happily start a thread if you'd show me how to get the script to work or where to enter USPSA #s
  22. Thanks for doing this! It looks like there isn't a race to Master Class thread. Going to try searching, but I might have to start one. Now to just get A Class in Limited and Single Stack.
