  1. I've used the coupled LR20's before with the Springer coupler. I would test then before match day. With my gun the top round in the reload mag slides forward.
  2. I can guarantee you that Larry is not lining his pockets off of this match. I'll bet every cent of that, and probably significantly more than what the match is bringing in will be given back to the competitors. If I had to guess aobut the price increase he's probably adding staff and better off range facilities (can't really make the range any better, it's pretty awesome already). I am glad for one thing. MD's really could gouge competitors. It would be very easy to just keep raising match entry fees until the market wouldn't bear them. As it is this match will fill in the first week without a problem. I'm betting it would still fill at $400.00 or even $500.00. If I could make it this year I'd pay the $285 and be happy to do it, knowing it will be money well spent.
  3. No reason to stop him for the initial hammer follow. My &$@)$>|€~€ ing gun, and my backup did it 20ish times at Nationals last year. I don't see any reason to give up over that you did fine.
  4. Reloading the Akdal will be much faster, but the 10 round mags "technically" put the gun at a disadvantage from the Saiga. Personally I would rather Firebird skip the 12 round design and focus instead on a big 15 rounder. Be a better equalizer and a more "useful" magazine than going from 10rds to 12rds. 15 rounder, OK. I'd rather have a 12 or 16 round magazine. Most SG arrays are set up as 4 or 8 round arrays. Not all, but quite a few. A 16 rounder would allow you to skip a load spot. 15 really wouldn't. 12 you're still light enough to manuever easily but have enough for an 8 and 4 round array or could still save a load somewhere.
  5. You'll want to avoid the MR556 and MR762 unless that is exactly what you want forever and ever. Both of the HK rifles are not compatible with anything else. The hole locations for the upper and lower receiver pins have been moved so that you can't interchange them with existing evil guns. Part of the restrictions on HK. If you get one you're pretty much stuck with what you get from the factory. And $3799.00 for that gun is retarded. No offense to HK quality but no freaking way.
  6. We will probably send out the next wave of invites around April 1. If you want to shoot and have an invite make sure you get registered. When we are full that's it. I'd hate to lose somebody because they were a bit slow to sign up.
  7. No NVG's but they do make IR lasers and lots of other cool stuff. And yes Jesse, you can shoot your LCP. In fact please do.
  8. For now they have the Railmaster laser. I've already got one I'm playing around with on my rifle. Neat little unit. Goes on any pic rail. I'll get another for my SG as soon as I get a piece of rail for it. For lights, not a lot. I know they are working on something but I doubt the 2011 platform will see much availble for a little while.
  9. Sorry, that is a faulty analogy. What possible malfunction could cause a 180 break at the "Make Ready"? About half of the 180 violations I've seen have been during remedial actions. That said I'm pretty sure there used to be a rule regarding firearm malfunctions causing an AD. That rule was removed to eliminate this exact scenario. There is no conflict. A DQ supersedes all. Period.
  10. I use a really crappy looking Kydex holster I molded for myself when shooting IMGA w/o power factor. I use an SJC Glock for that. For USPSA with PF I use a 2011 out of a Safariland 013. I like the CR Speed for a lot of things but definitely not three gun. I've seen too many guns pop out of locked CR Speed holsters. At the FNH match I watched a shooter fall over and knock his gun out of the holster. Fortunately it landed in his hand and he wasn't DQ'd. I told him after about the CR releasing guns even though locked. He proceeded to show me how that wouldn't happen smacking the butt of the gun until it fell out and landed on the ground. It didn't take long. I'm pretty sure Clint Upchurch was shooting a CR Speed at the last USPSA MG Nats when his gun hit the dirt as well.
  11. I don't know about that. I've watched some incredible performances by some guys who really know what they are doing. I remember watching Bruce Piatt on the long range stage at Superstition one year. He would shoot, call the shot and already be moving to the next Larue before it went over and before the sound from the hit even got back to us. Just cool to watch. I don't have the stones to try and pull that one off.
  12. I was wondering when the 8" Hardballer would come out of hiding on this thread Don't see that one as an advantage. But I would be curious to see something similar to the Hogue Avenger with a longer barrel. The reciprocating mass could be kept to a minimum and with a fixed barrel you don't have to worry about the added weight slowing stuff down. Say a 8-9" barrel with the increase in sight radius but you wouldn't need to increase the weight anywhere near as much as you would with a conventional slide. Hmm, what did I do with Hogue's phone number.
  13. They had it at last years SHOT Show as well. I didnt like it anywhere near as much as the ELS.
  14. I do wonder how easy it will be to determine edge hits and hits on the edge of the red zone.
  15. Am I reading Section 3 that the longest range rifle target will be 100 yards? Or is that specific to that event.
  16. There is no minimum SG shell length listed. As far as I'm concerned have at it.
  17. Ok, so 76 invitations went out in the first batch (77 if you figure the Mayor got two, but he is the Mayor). Of those about a dozen were adds to the list of 91 I sent Iain. I went down the list from the 2011 3GN season and pulled most of my folks. We added a few that we know are top notch 3 Gunners, but didn't have enough 3GN matches last year to make it in. Guys like Tate Moots, and Chris Sechiatano. There were some that got cut off the original list. Not sure why. Incurred the wrath of Crimson Trace, made too many kilt jokes about Iain in a dress. (I will add, my name was one that got cut. I wondered where my invite went.) On top of the "real competitor" invites there are also about 20(ish) media folks that will be coming and shooting. The main match is slated to hold about 80 (although Iain keeps trying to push that to 90-100). Staff match will be about 30. Total for the match should be about 110-130. Jesse if you've never been to this part of Oregon before, believe me it is a great place to vacation. That's why the Holiday Inn Express wanted $199.00 a night during the match. Lots of outdoor stuff to do.
  18. You can fly in to PDX and then make the drive. (That would be my way of getting there, but I'm cheap.) There are also some regional airports in the Bend area you could hop a puddle jumper from PDX to. As for the entry requirements, I know the way I came up with my list. I sent it to Iain and he added a few names. I need to get into the office and compare them to see who he took off of my list. I'd love to say it was a list of everyone we thought was a top 3 gunner, but heck, apparently the Mayor got two invitations. Once we get everyone confirmed as either coming or not, we can start inviting more people. This is just a really small match, number of entries wise. I'd love to be able to accomadate as many as Jeff did for the Pro-Am 3G last year but being in the dark that's not going to work.
  19. I would take a look at the Crimson Trace website. If you need it, send Iain an email and I'm pretty sure he will make sure it's available to run for the match. Crimson Trace has put in an incredible amount of work on this match. Believe me I don't know how to make a website or a logo. For lasers, you're pretty much set. I'm running a Lightguard on the pistol, but I have to make my own holster. As far as white lights for the long guns, if you don't want to run a light/laser vertical foregrip you pretty much need to bring your own. It would be very advantageous to run CT gear on all the guns in at least some fashion. The $3000.00 winning check is doubled if the winner used CT gear on all their guns. Anticipate shots from 2 yards to 200 yards. I probably won't go much past 200 depending on how well I can get the targets to show up. Whatever distance I set the targets at they will be visible with a 65 Lumen SureFire 6P. Might not be real easy to see but they will be visible. I'm still waiting to hook up with Travis from MGM to get a flash target to play around with.
  20. What way is that? Short burst from the Mk 19, then motor over and scoop 'em up? The Mk-V makes an appearance later in the movie, BTW Oh I know, during the yacht take down. Me wants. And yes, I suck so bad at fishing the only way I'm bringing anything home is via Mk-19. I'm not sure about the short burst thing though.
  21. I think I'd rather have the Mk V boat. Looks like it would make an excellent fishing boat. At least the way I fish.
