  1. I'll squash that right now then, no Nationals at Tri-County. That was easy. Waiting for the Nat's schedule to be released won't work. Major matches require more planning than 6 months. If we do it we'll have the dates long before Nats and they can plan around us. Hopefully.
  2. Haven't heard on the waitlist and at this point I probably won't go if I do. Just not enough time to plan, for me anyway.
  3. It's not requiring the use of a specific type or brand. You can use any of 100 different holsters for US Production. That would certainly seem to preclude and specificity. It does restrict holsters, eliminating race holsters but the rule doesn't say this can't be done.
  4. Anyone know if there are any major matches scheduled for June 20-24, 2007. Anything from the other disciplines like IRC or Bianchi that weekend? Just curious.
  5. I've seen several major distributors that are selling models without locks and disconnects. It doesn't seem that S&W has any problem selling them.
  6. The pictures shown on that site are not correct. They all show the old style bearing. The new style is only used with the new, Loaded Chamber Indicator extractor. The old style should still be used with the old style extractor. The old bearing with the new extractor puts a bit too much pressure on the round and can cause malfuntions if the brass is beat up or out of spec. We had lots of issues with our dummy rounds (which look like they were chewed on by a rat) till we fixed ours.
  7. I had considered it but I'll be shooting the Ft. Benning 3-Gun Match that weekend.
  8. Dave's just looking for more of a challenge than I can provide. I shot with him the whole match and he was smoking. He's just a blast to watch. I wish I could have shot with Manny also. And of course. Thanks to all our sponsors for this match. It really was an incredible experience to see so much support for USPSA. THANKS!!!
  9. And he has a website finally. www.tylerfirearmsinstruction.com
  10. If only you knew of somewhere to get a good barrel In all seriousness, thank you guys for donating that Bar-Sto pistol to the match. That was a really great thing to do and just showed how much of a great organization Bar-Sto is.
  11. It should go up on the Area 1 site if it goes up. It'll be www.uspsa1.org
  12. I am light. I also did the match. Depending on your accuracy level. The 9mm may still be the way to go. i.e. 6 hf stage. 1 extra reload, at 2 seconds, (your figure, not mine) will cost you 12 points, or 12 C's. Looks pretty even, or advantage 9mm. Of course this is assuming an extra reload each stage, which probably won't happen. I remember asking Dave Sevigny before the L-10 Nationals last year if he was shooting 9mm. He said that he gained about 2-4 % with the 40 over the 9mm and would be shooting the Glock 35. This was with both guns at even capacity. I'm thinking that 2 extra rounds may make up for that 2-4 %. I don't really know what the hot setup will be. But I doubt the 9mm is going to be that big of a detriment.
  13. I've got one of the 9mm's sitting on my desk right now. H&K generously donated two to the Area 1 match this year. The 9mm will be used in a side match. Anyone that wants to shoot it is more than welcome. The best time on the side match will win the gun they shot it with. H&K also donated a .40 cal version that will go on the prize table that anyone can win.
  14. Squadding will hopefully be up tonight. Bruce is doing the squadding. I don't think that anything he has ever done has been a cluster, let alone a giant one. The stages are up, the RO's are having a meeting right about now, and then are going to hang the banners from all our sponsors. After that they'll shoot the stages to give them the final shakedown. Everything is running right on schedule. Relax.
  15. I'm not sure that stage is really a good example. Since the RO told everyone it was okay to break the 180 with the shotgun while running up range. I also watched just about every shooter on our squad cover themselves with the muzzle of some thing at least once.
  16. 12-14 should be about right. We're working on getting the squadding done. Hopefully it will be posted in time for plans to be made. I was out at the range today and it looks pretty good.
  17. Well the match is over, dang that was a lot of rounds downrange. There's just something cool about spending 5 minutes shooting as stage...and winning it. Thanks to all the RO's who worked their butts off in the heat and the rain. This was a butt kicker for the shooters. The RO's shot the match and then ran every shooter with little relief. They did a great job. Thanks to the whole Gibson clan. Mike and the kids had a great match this year. Very challenging stages, good mix of guns and short and long shots (40 yard shots with the pistol on MGM auto poppers?!?!?!) Overall Match winner and High Open shooter was...(drum roll) Matt Burkett. I don't think he's come in anywhere but first ever at this match. And he tried his darnedest by giving all a nice head start. His first shot of that match with his own shotgun he put a slug on a spinning steel target, earning himself a 6 minute penalty. And he still kicked everyones butt!! I believe it was Sterling White (GMW2B) that won the Limited Division. Some fat guy from Oregon won Scoped Tactical and High Law.
  18. Don't forget S&W is also sponsoring Bobby McGee, John Flentz and Ernest Langdon. S&W is back into USPSA in a big way.
  19. Sorry, one of the sponsors is WaterShed Rainwear. They specifically requested I do a fat man rain dance. Guess it worked.
  20. You can't spit in Washington County without hitting a McMennamins. There's one about 5 min from the range.
  21. Sorry, this information was relayed to me by the two former World Champion shooters that I was shooting with, who were watching the increased engagement speed with the 9mm, the lack of slide lock reloads and the one stage you could shoot differently with 10 in the gun. I'll make sure to let them know that they clearly don't know how to, "do the math" when I shoot with them at Area 1 next weekend.
  22. It was interested at the West Coast Dual Championship. There seemed to be a lot of spots where the extra rounds from shooting minor would have come in very handy. I think Major/Minor in Single Stack is going to end up being pretty much a wash.
  23. The class will be held at the Dundee range. For directions go to www.columbia-cascade.org and click on club locations. Class will start at 8:00 AM. As you come into the range the gate should be open and we'll be in a bay on the hill to the right. I spoke to Dave this weekend and he's got some great drills set up for us. He said to figure on about 6-700 rounds, so bring 1000. No signup will be needed at the range. We'll get out in time for the shooters meeting for sure. The registration??? May end up doing that the next morning at the range.
  24. Easy way to try both and compare. The new Blade-Tech DOH holster can be both. The DOH is now a two piece unit. The actual belt mount (Stingray) and the drop. If you want to run the holster in IDPA, just remove the drop and put the Stingray directly on the holster. I just shot the West Coast Dual Championship and at least a couple of the big dogs (John Flentz and Jeff Gambrell that I saw) are running this way even for USPSA. They said they like the holster there even more than the DOH. For those folks that have the older style DOH where it screws onto the holster, Blade-Tech has the new DOH parts available to retrofit your holsters.
