  1. We're checking on the hotel to see about any additional availability. We've got a couple options for backup hotels. We just need to do a bit of checking on Monday before we put them out.
  2. Nordic Components has a tube that is awesome. I used it on a buddy's 930. Felt like a good gun. A bit heavier in the recoil department than I am used to but the gun ran everything we stuck in it. Even light 2 3/4 dram 1 oz tgt loads. The only things I would change would be to cut back the back end of the forend and open up the loading port for better access. I had the occasional issue with not getting the round all the way in the tube. My wife says.... nahh I won't go there.
  3. That's what I was originally thinking but the Winchester website shows the Win USA 130Gr to be a round nose projectile. Is this a USA loading or a W-W. Also do you know how old your sample is? Thanks for the help.
  4. I've got a couple loaded rounds recovered from an attempted murder and I'm trying to identify them. The rounds are loaded in Winchester .38 spl brass and they look like they all have Win primers. The bullets are copper jacketed with a flat point. I haven't had a chance to pull one yet but the recovered bullet was about 126 gr after hard surface impact. I'm guessing they were orinally 130gr. The 130 gr. Win's that I'm seeing are all a roundnose. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes FP 130 gr .38 bullets or if Winchester used this loading? I'll call Win tomorrow but I figured this forum might know better anyway.
  5. My preference would be no modifications, but after shooting IPSC and viewing the IPSC forum that doesn't seem practical or enforcible. Just the volume of questions and arguments Vince gets tells me that it is not a workable solution. Same goes with the magzaine limits. While 10 round mags certainly change the game it is a lot easier to enforce. Not sure what the final number should be for IPSC but it would be nice to have a number and let you do whatever you want with your mags. I also like not having Race Holsters in USPSA. I think it is alot easier to introduce people to our game by using a semi practical holster as opposed to a $200.00 race holster.
  6. Not specifically allowed or disallowed. As long as it is done with factory parts the RM has to make the determination if it provides a significant competetive advantage. There is nothing prohibiting drilling or grinding specifically. In 20 some odd GSSF matches I've never had the RM question my gun or even look at it.
  7. Yep, as long as stock parts are used you can modify them however you want.
  8. Are there steel cylinders available from S&W to alleviate this problem?
  9. Near as I can tell the 647 is a .17 HMR K frame. I've only seen it in 8 3/8 inch bbl. And it didn't look like it had a Ti. cylinder. I'm guessing he got the number wrong? The 646 is a .40 S&W wheelgun manufactured for one year with a Ti. cylinder. Looks like it was plagued with sticky extraction and problems with inconsistent rim thickness in .40.
  10. We're still coordinating the side match with the sponsors. Once the details are final I'll post them here. It will be a Steel Challenge stage though.
  11. We've had a couple RO's that have had to drop out of the match. If anyone is interested we could use a little more help at the match. RO's can shoot the match on Thursday and work the rest of the match. Their scores will be included in the overall match results and they will walk the prize table in order of finish with the remaining competitors. There are also some other benefits as well. If you are interested, PM or email me, chuck@andersontactical.com or Tom Chambers, the RM, at tomdagadget@hotmail.com. Thanks.
  12. Yes there will be a form in match booklet so that you can have someone pick your prize for you. Right now it looks like everyone will be getting to hit the prize table. We're getting new sponsors every day. We're right about 100 sponsors now. Check the website to see the new ones that Floyd has to keep entering.
  13. Sorry, not going to happen. We're still having to move people around to accomodate squadding requests. I don't want to put it out while we're still making weekly changes. If you have specific questions you can email me. Chuck

The newest magazines will have the ambidextrous magazine release cutout on the front of the magazine.
  15. andyb on this forum is a student at Oregon State University and recently started a shooting team from the University. We have several OSU students that compete at our monthly USPSA matches in Albany, OR. They even recently ran a benefit match to buy gear for the new shooters. The two biggest organizations you should look at are USPSA and IDPA. Both offer action pistol style shooting. IDPA is specifically geared to concealed carry and would fit right in. There are no clubs that shoot IDPA around so I haven't shot a match in awhile. USPSA has Production and Single Stack Division which seem to be very popular with the concealed carry crowd in my area. USPSA also now has Steel Challenge shooting. While this isn't geared towards concealed carry it is a great way to get new shooters involved in competetive shooting. For students newer to the group you may want to see if NSSF is offering the First Shots program anywhere in your area. First Shots is designed to introduce new shooters to guns in a friendly, safe and enjoyable way.
  16. I think the difference may come because not everyone has cases for their long guns. It is an accepted carry position to carry the long guns, muzzle up. It is not to do so with a pistol.
  17. I'm pretty sure a chamber flag in a pistol is against the rules (slide forward hammer down), as well as really impractical. I personally hate chamber flags in long guns. I see more horrible gun handling with flagged guns than anything else. I also don't like shoving melting plastic into the hot chamber of my rifle or shotgun. Especially when I have to clean out little plastic shavings.
  18. Have him review rules 5.2.1 and 10.5.1 John The above is Amidon's response. I sent him a request for a bit more info. Yes my opinion has been changed, but on something where there is already clear guidance in the rule book I don't see a lot of reason to flog it. There's a real simple way to get an answer on that. If you don't like my opinion feel free to ignore it. Got second email from Amidon. He's going to address the issue in his next column in Front Sight.
  19. I've been to some three gun matches that specifically have an exemption for casing long guns at the car for guys that have truck vaults or huge cases or whatever. It is specifically stated in the match booklet that it is allowed. In that case I would consider RS's pistol argument. Otherwise, you made a long drive to go home from the match early. It's clearly stated in the rules. If you don't like the rule, email Amidon and ask his opinion. He's quick to get back and this back and forth on a forum between guys that have clearly held opinions is pretty worthless. I just emailed Amidon with the question and Gordon's video. I'll let you knwo what he says. (My money is on no.)
  20. Mike McCarter is the Point of Contact for this match. You can reach him at nomikes@hotmail.com. I know he's been working on the Oregon Single Stack and Plastic Gun Championships that are coming up at the end of next month. From what I understand, registration has not been as high as hoped. There are folks registered but it's not going to be 100+. On the upside the training classes being offered in conjunction with the match should be great with the lower numbers. It will also mean more time for the kids to play with the machine guns duing the machine gun shoot.
  21. Got a chance today to shoot my buddies 930 with his Nordic Extensions mag extension. The gun ran flawlessly on everything from 2 3/4 dram 1 1/8 oz loads to 3/14 1 1/8 oz loads. The gun is pretty light and jumped around a bit, but I'm used to shooting Remington and Brownings. Looks like it will be a good gun. The magazine tube needs to be opened up and the forend ground away a 1/2 an inch or so. But other than that it could be a stock out of the box gun.
  22. Oh, Glock in his mouth... I thought you wrote something else.
  23. Yes you can use a laser sight in Open division. I don't know of anyone that does because the the dot on top of the gun is a lot easier to find than the dot 25 yds away. I seem to remember there was talk about using both, on for example a low light stage. Don't remember for sure the result but I think it was whatever was on the gun at the start of the match had to stay on the gun. They used the same rule to say no lights on guns except in Open Division.
