  1. Limited minor is not a bad idea. At least there you can upload the magazines and get a few extra rounds to overcome the scoring differential. Limited 10 Minor is kind of rough. Unless you shoot all A's your fighting an uphill battle.
  2. The 21SF would make a very good Lim 10 gun but that is about it. The 35 you can use for anything. I had a 21 SF for a while. It is a very nice gun. I've also used the 35 a lot. Same thing. For me it comes down to what fits my hand. I carry the 22/23 because when I shoot the 21 my wedding ring falls right on top of one of my knuckles and cuts through. Also if you do go with the .45 and have a choice in ammo, take a hard look at that Win SXT. We used to carry it until we did testing and found that it didn't go through auto glass at all. We switched over to the Federal HST and have had really good luck with it, including shooting into vehicles.
  3. Doug, the way this reads to me is that you talked to the owners of TacSol and they advised the uppers don't work on the 22.45 polymer lowers? Am I reading that right?
  4. Only allowed to load 10 per mag in Production though, right? I agree that race holsters, like the DOH, kind of seem out of place in Production class. I'd like to be able to use plastic slug plugs, because I use them on carry guns, but they're not allowed either. IPSC Production allows high cap mags (except in Canada). A CZ-75 SP-01 can start the stage with more rounds than most Standard (IPSC Limited) guns. And the DOH is not a race holster. What Harmon (I assume) is referring to is holsters like the CR Speed and Ghost holster that are allowed in IPSC Production.
  5. That makes me a little nervous if multiple RO's are noticing competitors not following basic safety protocols and not doing anything about it.
  6. Contact Sabre Defence in Tennessee. They are the US Importer for Sphinx Pistols. (And also a terrific three gun supporter).
  7. I've played with all three of the sights mentioned. Our Tac team uses Eo Tech's exclusively because they're neat. I bought and use an Aimpoint M4 on my work rifle. I haven't done any torture testing to it though. I have seen the Aimpoint guys toss them around during media days at the last two SHOT Show's. They throw, them, kick them stomp them, and I'll be danged if I've seen any of them not work 100%. There is a new version of the M4 with the battery compartment at the 5 O'Clock position instead of 1 O'Clock that should be even better.
  8. Area 1 Multi Gun app is up on the website at www.nassonline.org
  9. I carry five on the belt and my 11 round loading mag in a pocket. There's never any question about sticking the 11 rounder in a pouch or grabbing the wrong mag to load with at the beginning. The steel stage at Area 6 was a great example of needing more than 32 rounds to complete that stage. I doubt there was anyone who didn't take an extra shot on that stage. I watched a couple of guys who took a lot of extra shots (like 20 or more). There are also times when the stage calls for something weird. I just shot a match last week where the best way to shoot it was shoot 10, shoot 4, then finish. I've also seen a lot of guys lose mags during reloading or running. Especially on guns with mag pads that stick forward like M&P and CZ.
  10. Your going to have to measure it. Caspian does a whole bunch of different front sight cuts. And I remember seeing a variety at matches on prize tables. Or just bring it and have Rob look at it. If you're not in a hurry, Bob Londigran from Brazos and Rene from Speed Shooters will be at the Area 1 Match. I normally just bring the slide with and hold the front sights up to compare them. (I'm not very scientific)
  11. Yep, probably on the 26th at registration. If you want your specific information please email me and I will send it. We're adding and moving people around on a weekly if not daily basis. I can either keep working on sponsors for the match, or respond to the repeated requests to change folks around. To be honest, I don't have time for both.
  12. It was listed on the USPSA Junior site as well as mentioned several times in Front Sight in the Junior Section. It was also mentioned on this website. Tell them to come to the Area 1 match instead, one week earlier, in the same area. And we'll have lots of stuff to give away.
  13. I don't agree about the major matches. I think we may have a few too many in Area 1 this year. Between the A1 Pistol (over 320 competitors registered), A1MG, R&R Racing Multi Gun, Man of Steel, Crazy Croc, US Steel Shoot NW Regional, ABC House Charity Match and GSSF we have several matches that will have 100+ competitors. And this is just in one section. The last club match at Albany drew over 80 competitors, many of them new shooters and on a weekend with not so great weather. I'm betting that the June match will be around 90 if not more. The Washington State Steel Championship had around 70 shooters and as far as I can tell it was squarely in the middle of nowhere. While I'm disappointed the Junior Invitational didn't happen I don't think it's the end of the world. We've got a couple ideas for matches next year that hopefully we will get a good draw to.
  14. The assertion that only "4 hours notice" was given is inaccurate. The "official announcement" was contained in the Executive Director's column in Front Sight magazine (the issue that was delivered over a month ago). Although pretty much everyone uses the web, USPSA still considers Front Sight to be our official communication method. In fact, a basic requirement HQ established for the waiting list was that it MUST be announced in Front sight, not just on the internet. The "USPSA News and Anoucments" text at the bottom of www.uspsa.org has mentioned the waiting list for a some time (not sure, I think it's weeks) An anoucement regarding the waiting list was posted on www.uspsa-nationals.org (the official site linked from www.uspsa.org) on April 3 and has remained up since that time. The link at the top of www.uspsa.org was not intended as the "official announcement", but as a navigation aid to help people find the waiting list. The waitlist went live at exactly the promised time. We even synchronized the clock on the USPSA web server with the time service provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology so you could, quite literally, set your watch by the time the wait list opened. Correct. It's a bit different this year, however, the official announcements covered that. We separated signing up for the list from payment (you pay after signing up, so you get onto the waitlist before we handshake with the credit card processor). The list was opened a week earlier than the time we are going to give out slots so that (a) people will have plenty of time to pay the waitlist fee, and (b ) If someone gets on the wait list but encounters a problem when paying the fee, there will be time to address the issue before slots are offered. That's quite enough of your crazy "logic" If Carina didn't see the notice it wasn't up. Besides, I don't want to mess with her, she can shoot and kick my a__
  15. Ammo cost would be prohibitive for USPSA, as would the reduced capacity below 10. I think the main market is self defence. The heavy bullet crowd has to drool over this thing. I don't do enough pin shooting to have ever loaded specifically for it. But I'm thinking a .50 cal version of the .45 200 gr JHP would have an awsome surface area for grabbing and throwing pins. Could be the ulitmate pin gun.
  16. Got the email, and the pm, and the message on the thread. Dude you really want to change. I'll send you back the new info as soon as I get home.
  17. For me if I'm going to a local match and the clays are inconsistent or the RO blows a call I'm going to be a lot less annoyed than if I spend several hundred to a thousand to go to a major match.
  18. Just a quick update on the match. We are now over $100,000.00 in sponsorship for the match. We're still getting more and more sponsors so I expect this number to go up (not a whole lot but a little). I expect the match to fill up. If you've been on the fence about coming, get your application in quick. We've also had a few cancellations and some spots on the other schedules have opened up. If you need or want to switch to a Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun schedule let me know and I'll see what I can do. You don't want to miss this match. For the raffle we're going to have two awesome custom guns. Frerking Custom Works in Nebraska is donating a custom race AR worth over $2500.00 and Scott Springer at Springer Precision is donating the custom work to trick out one of the XD's Springfield is giving us. We may add one or two items to sweeten the deal, but it seems pretty sweet to me now. We're still working on the side match. But we will have prizes, including three guns, for the fastest shooters, as well as other great giveaways for the folks who can't keep up with Taran Butler. The side match will be using sponsor provided guns and ammunition will be provided. We may also have something where you can use your own gun but we're working on that. Shouldn't be more than 25 or so extra rounds either way. The sponsors for the side match are: Lone Wolf Distributing, CZ-USA, Smith & Wesson and R and R Racing. More info to come on the side match, but it will probably be a lot closer to the event, like a week or two out.
  19. If it was traps throwing I would be okay with it. At least those are consistent. I've seen flippers do so many weird things, I just don't think they should be allowed. The worst is when the wind catches them and the fly at or over the shooters. I've seen a couple folks tracking the bird that nearly broke 180 or fired almost vertically. I don't like lead raining down on me.
  20. I would be concerned sticking a long loaded major 9 round into a stock Glock. If it managed to feed out of the magazine, I'm not sure if there is enough chamber length for it. I know my major 9 loads for my SV guns won't chamber into a stock Glock. My concern would be if someone tried to push it and shoved the bullet back into the case. Even if you were still at stock 9mm length pressure would be increased dramatically .
  21. Nope. There probably won't be an update till June. Mike and Tom are doing the Oregon Single Stack followed by the Plastic Gun Championships weekend after next. Once that gets taken care of they'll probably start looking at the A1 MG.
  22. I'm planning to order some, I'm just not going to have a chance to get to the range to sight in, adjust springs or practice with. Thanks for the offer though. I'll be shooting my wuss loads.
  23. Called the Match hotel and they do still have rooms available. The rooms are set aside in a block for match participants. The hotel is full up outside of the block of rooms so you have to tell them you are with the match in order to make a reservation. Not sure what's going on with the link on the match website. Should work if you just call the hotel and tell them you're with us.
  24. I was shooting an SJC Open Glock with AAA 147Gr JHP Glock loads. Minor. I'm going to order some of AAA's dedicated Steel loads and see how they run this thing. I'm planning to shoot the Glock match with the same gun shooting minor. I just don't have time to work up the major load between now and then.
  25. This was a great match. Thanks to Pat, Carl and their families for putting on a great event. I had a great time, even despite the heat. Pat looked like he had put together a great prize table on what was billed as a trophy only match. And special thanks to JR at Lone Wolf Distributing. The "trophies" for this match were all Spyderco/LWD knives with the placement laser engraved on the blade. What a great prize!! LWD also donated a complete top end, and a bunch of other parts to the table as well. Talk about generous. Thanks again.
