  1. As a general rule, I never stop unless the RO tells me to. I've seen more than one shooter stop due to a popper being down or something not being set, only to find out they already shot it. (Popper could be shot from more then one spot). Same thing with untaped targets. I've seen a lot of shooters with 4 or even 6 hits on targets that were all theirs. Keep going and sort it out at the end.
  2. Got mine on Friday. Interesting scope. I still haven't had a lot of time to play with it. Biggest downside is the power ring is a serious pain to move. Very, very tight. If you don't get it all the way on 1 or 4 the scope is completely out of focus. Incredible field of view though on 1x. And it is a true 1x. (or at least as close as I can tell. The reticle is a bit harder to pick up then I was hoping for.
  3. All right, I'll be danged if I can get the camera to focus on the reticle. I compared the dot to my C-More and it's definitely not quite as red. The dot size and shape looked the same with equal amounts of bloom. I really don't notice the color difference much. Sorry about no photos. I'll see if someone at the steel match this weekend has better photo skills than I do.
  4. Often three gun matches will use neutralization scoring on targets. One A or two hits anywhere on the target will result in no time added to your score. For example, 2A, 1A 1M, and 2D will all score the same, +0. However a 1C, 1M will add a Fail to Neutralize penalty. You need to check the rules to see which scoring method is being used. The scoring method Steve talks about will probably be referred to as Horner, Blue Ridge or IDPA scoring. If you are shooting a match with Horner scoring, accuracy is much more important than in a traditional IMGA match.
  5. I probably won't have the time to put in making the calls this year for you. However I'd be more than happy to send you my list of contacts and get you started.
  6. Did it? I believe we have done a good job of putting prop guns in stages. First you start with the prop, so you do not have to figure it out on the clock, second if it is "high value" then you can reengage with your weapon or it is a bonus. The AK "may" have been a little off, but lets remember that the target stopped in bayonet range, and IF you missed it, well.... It was a tiny portion of the match last year. You guys have always done a great job of including the prop guns but not making them a make or break proposition. The reason I posted that was someone suggested a stage of all prop guns. That stage would obviously have the prop guns as all of the stage scoring. I would prefer you keep doing it the way you have. A little bit of prop, but mostly your own guns.
  7. I notice you didn't mention last years AK which for me and everyone else I talked to was way off at the short distance we were shooting. I was aiming in the C-zone between the A and the B zone. I ended up in the C Zone under the A zone. We were warned before shooting that the gun shot low. Stage guns will always cause problems. Either the things won't be sighted in, or some shooter will do poorly on the stage and blame the gun for not being sighted in. That said, I love having the opportunity to shoot something at Benning I don't get to anywhere else. I just don't think it should account for a huge portion of the scoring of a stage.
  8. That's great until he beats the relatively new shooter who is just getting started. That shooter looks to the RM who is clearly allowing the shooter to cheat, as evidenced by him ragging on the guy for his powderpuff ammo. I doubt that shooter will return to shoot with a bunch of cheaters. If the guy has already shot a stage minor, there is no way for the scoring program to leave that stage minor and the rest major. There is no way I would allow a shooter to be scored major on a stage he already shot minor.
  9. Application is in the mail. Bummer on how long it took to get the app up though. When this was announced flights were just over $200.00. Since it's less than three months out though it's gonna cost almost $400.00.
  10. No Area 1 Multi-Gun this year. It was supposed to take place in the Tri-Cities area but the MD moved out of that area and no one stepped up to do the match again this year. The Multi Gun Nationals are also in Area 1 this year. Any interest in running it next year?
  11. Your math might be right but the various stages don't all take the same amount of time. If you spend 2.5 seconds on Smoke and Hope, you're lagging behind. If you can hit Outer Limits in 2.5, welcome to the world record.
  12. Definitely one to upgrade to. I looked at booking one and it's $400.00 a day. I'll have to try and sweet talk the clerk out of one.
  13. Man that is weird. That does not liook like mine. I don't remember it looking that blue. And the dot on mine looked just as red as my C-More. I've been banned from the camera until the wife get the latest baby pics off. (geez you accidentally delete one 1st birthday party and never hear the end of it.) I'll see if I can get access to the camera today. BTW, you're wrong about the JP adaptor. They shipped me one with my mount. I was going to ship it back to them but if you still want the scope, send me a PM
  14. To answer the OP's question, yes I had a couple guns built by Jim when he was at EGW and the work has always been top notch. Many of the smiths that used to work for George have gone on to start their own shops and are some of the names in the business now that are top notch. A recent email to George about doing some work prompted his response that he is forwarding all the gunsmithing to Jim to do. That is a pretty good recommendation in my book.
  15. I'll throw in for G-Man Bart for the hook up on the .22 ammo.
  16. Hmmm, wobbly rocking bridge covered with frost in the morning, and loaded guns. I can't imagine why that wasn't suggested
  17. OK, that's just weird. Why would the RTF 9 be lighter than the 3rd Gen , but the RTF 40 be heavier?
  18. I'd love to shoot an M-2 or M134. I'd definitely be willing to kick an extra 20 or so to the match to pay for the ammo. Other than that maybe shooting a precision sniper rifle with, oh I don't know say a TacMod stock on it, in the MOUT area? BTW, the match theme is BA? Does that mean the RO's will all be dressed as sheep? Or the MD has to dress up like Little Bo Peep?
  19. So can I take my 22 RTF Frame (approved model) and put a Glock 34 (approved mode) slide on? Glock supposedly released the 34 RTF on July 1, but who knows when they will actually be avail or approved.
  20. Chuck, I had these guys finish my Single stack, they sponsored the ProAm last year. Fantastic job. 1 week turn around time. It is the blackest black I have ever had on a gun. http://www.nicindustries.com/cerakote_video.php Tom They're pretty close here in Oregon. How is the finish holding up? Any issues with flaking or peeling? Do you know how thick it is? That was one of the things I liked about the IonBond was how thin it was. Didn't mess with tolerances.
  21. Sounds like Ryan Flynn may have left Ion Bond and they also increased prices. What are some other options for getting a gun finished in black. Not really keen on spending $400.00 bucks on a finish. $300.00 for the finish and $100.00 for round trip shipping. Anybody got a backup plan?
  22. I'll try and get some pics tomorrow. It's about as red as anything I've seen. Definitely not Jpoint color.
  23. So I finally got my C-More Micro Red Dot Sight. Best of the breed I've played with so far. The switch has three settings, off, AT and M. The Automatic setting does NOT turn the dot off when the hood is on. The AT setting was brighter and cleaner than the Burris Fast Fire it was replacing. On Manual, it was easily 2-3 times brighter. It looked like an actual C-More dot. Only downside is the window is a bit smaller than most micro sights. I mounted it on a SBR'd Tactical Solutions X-Ring that I'll be shooting at the NW Regional at the end of the month. Anybody coming is more than welcome to take a look if they want.
  24. We're still really light on registrations for this match. We're gonna hold it for sure but there may not be that many people there. That said the folks that do show up are gonna have an awesome prize table to pick from. So far we've got over $15,000.00 in prizes for our competitors, and we're adding new sponsors each day. If you are planning to come and register on match day, please just send me a PM so we can plan for lunch.
