  1. I asked Steve Horsman this morning and, while he didn't know the answer, he did that confirm that the USPSA SS rules determines the answer. The restriction stated on the web site is outdated, not an additional rule. I didn't tell him you called it the Rob Leatham WSSSC so as long is it fits in "The Box" you should be good.
  2. Can't even argue it anymore - my close personal friend Jerry M just sent pictures of the 929 he's giving me: Official disclaimer notice for the sense-of-humorly challenged: This is a joke, the pictures are fake and I don't know JM!
  3. I'm using S. L. Variant speed loaders with .45 Auto rim in my 625 for ICORE classic. It's a good way to let you use your 625 but even loading long there isn't much of the bullet/case entering the cylinder so reloading is less positive than with "normal" speed loader rounds. I have a few of the HKS twist knob speed loaders for make ready but that's about all they're good for.
  4. Well, looks like you have exposed the truth at last. So you won't be surprised to hear that none of the 929s will be available for sale as Jerry is giving them all away to those of us who claimed to be in favor of 8 shot minor in order to help him out.
  5. Make sure the lighting is the same over both sensors. I had a similar thing happen Sunday where some loads showed their normal speeds but a 165gr .40 load showed 2000 fps. I realized one sensor was in the sun and the other was shaded. When I turned it so both were in the sun it worked correctly.
  6. "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D58LpHBnvsI
  7. Those numbers are never correct, unless the same guy won all the stages and then they still aren't correct. The combined scores are nothing butt fluff and mean nothing. You only shoot against those in your division. That may be the official rule but in real life I prefer the combined results over division results. I want to know how I did compared to everyone else in the match.
  8. On Guns America a pair still in the original military packaging sold for $1600. But that was before 8 shot minor - you probably can't give them away now!
  9. It looks like 8 shot minor is approved ??? From the minutes of the 8 October 2013 BOD phone in meeting: Revolver Division Motion: To approve the proposed rule change to amend the Revolver Division to allow 8-shot revolvers provided they are scored as minor power factor Moved: Pres Seconded A7 Passed Roll Call requested YES – A1, A2, A3, A4, A7, Pres NO – A5, A6, A8
  10. Your Welcome. It was grueling work shooting all those stages. Its been a lot of fun getting an 8-shot up and running. Whether 8-shot happens in USPSA Revolver or not I am having a lot of fun shooting it in Production. Should get me lots of revolver trigger time between now and Nationals no matter which Revolver I get to shoot. Make sure to share the Rio Salado's results I would be very interested in seeing them as I am sure others here will be. Here you go: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=168982&page=3#entry2000874
  11. We had our first match at Rio Salado Sunday after this announcement five days earlier: Attention current and wannabe USPSA Revolver shooters While USPSA Revolver Division may allow 8 shot minor guns in January that is months away so let's use Limited 10 to do it right now at Rio Salado. Sign up in L10 as Minor if you're shooting an 8 shot gun, and Major or Minor as appropriate if you're using a 6 shooter. Put "Revo" in front of your last name (Brad RevoPerkinson, Frank RevoD'Amato) to identify you as a revolver shooter in the results and do NOT use your USPSA number. We can't use USPSA numbers with incorrect last names and without them classifiers will not be sent in. If you're a 6 shooter AND want/need Revo classifiers this won't work for you and you'll need to stay in Revolver Division. But if we get the 6 shot people in L10 instead of Revo we'll have all the revolver shooters in one division competing against each other, as it should be! The results are at http://www.riopractical.com/text/uppl.txt . We had rain that kept some away and we had a few legitimate L10 shooters as they prepare for Nationals. Four of the seven L10 shooters were revo guys. I shot SS as my 627 was going Click more often than Bang, one shooter had someone else sign him up and they put him in Revo (and in the L10 revo group was one rebel who I won't name but whose last name doesn't begin with "S" who had a red dot sight. I expect better turnout next weekend with good weather and more time for the word to spread.
  12. My thinking is that it's easier to modify the sign up than the shooting. I'm hoping to have enough Revo shooters that making sure everyone knows a local rule will be a problem!
  13. I'm tired of waiting so this announcement will be going out to the Rio Salado shooters this week: Attention current and wannabe USPSA Revolver shooters While USPSA Revolver Division may allow 8 shot minor guns in January that is months away so let's use Limited 10 to do it right now at Rio Salado. Sign up in L10 as Minor if you're shooting an 8 shot gun, and Major or Minor as appropriate if you're using a 6 shooter. I don't expect to get dozens of new revo shooters at each match but we already have two or three people shooting 8 shot revolvers in L10 at most matches (along with only one or two "real" L10 shooters). At least we'll get all the current revo people in the same division and I hope it will encourage more as they won't just look like bad L10 shooters in the combined results.
  14. It's still got to fall to calibration ammo, right? So it's not like you can set it very heavy.... Well, I read it as "set correctly so nothing less than a hit in the calibration zones by calibration ammo will make it fall but that most people will call heavy because they're used to them being set too light".
  15. See what happens when you are mean to me - my dad will step in. Hmm, except that I'm older than even he is, so I'm not sure how that works. But regardless, TGO is right that for those in on these threads from the beginnings this has run its course and we're just repeating what has been said. The only thing I will add is that, specifically excluding Bosshoss who all along has clearly stated legitimate concerns, there have been a few tin-foil hatish comments speculating on the "real reason" for wanting 8 shots or claiming that the 8 shot idea is being pushed by a cabal (Hah! One for the 6 shot shot crowd to look up!) for the benefit of a few. That simply isn't true. TGO is TGO, I'm a random "support level" shooter who thinks USPSA revo is incredibly tedious with a 6 shooter and a lot of fun with an 8 shooter (and has actually tried it with both). We and others, some who have posted here and some who haven't, have different levels of experience and different reasons for wanting 8 shot revo. But the common theme is that we all think it will improve revo division. I'm more involved than some of our other Rio Salado revolver people simply because I wanted to refigure local results unofficially showing everyone with a revolver as a Revo shooter and then I was suckered into helping with the Outlaw matches . And here we have a fresh idea. My thought was that more visibility with increased revo participation at club matches would attract new people to revo but hadn't considered this. The one drawback that comes to mind is that a revolver is more expensive than a Glock so people might not be inclined to buy one for once or twice a year. Maybe revo-only matches with loaner/rental set ups available?
  16. Legal but useless. They are revolvers, not Production/Open/Limited/L10 guns that just happen to only hold 8 rounds. Wow. Lets just outlaw revolvers for USPSA shooting - they're all useless. Kinda like the underlined post. How's the trolling? Wow back at you. I thought we were at last past the point of trying to argue that 8 shot revolvers were a good fit in the other divisions and were discussing the pros and cons of alowing them in revo. How do you figure my stating that 8 shot revos don't work in the other divisions is trolling, or equates to outlawing revolvers in USPSA?
  17. The TRR8 and 627 is currently legal in every USPSA division except SS. FYI Legal but useless. They are revolvers, not Production/Open/Limited/L10 guns that just happen to only hold 8 rounds.
  18. Yet, we have diversity...in the form of Steel Challenge (local matches). Talk about a perfect place to play with an 8-shot revolver. I'm not sure we see the turn out though? You don't see the turnout because it is Steel Challenge.
  19. I smile a bit when I hear ICORE matches {big or little) and all the ICORE shooters that will come running. You guys in A2 have it good. Two points: "All the ICORE shooters..." doesn't have to be very many to make a huge percentage increase in Revo, and I do appreciate the benefits of living in Area 2. I also want apologize if I came across as making fun of ICORE matches. I truly appreciate the various ICORE matches and those who do the work to make them happen (because I shoot in as many as I can!). I just can't picture someone thinking they'll gain enough by dominating ICORE that they are scheming to corrupt another sport to do it. .
  20. I've lost track of who said what in which thread, but I don't recall anyone in any of them implying they want to change USPSA to be like ICORE to practice for big ICORE matches. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I haven't read anything that leads me to the same conclusion. I did smile a little at the thought of the "big ICORE matches". Outside of the IRC that's pretty close to an oxymoron.
  21. Unlike Single Stack Major and Minor, I think there will be a significant increase in revo recovery and split times with Major over Minor in the 8 shot guns. It was too hot to go out this weekend but next Sunday I'm going to test this out comparing my minor .38 Supers against some hot factory stuff. I'll chrono to see if it is Major, but I expect it'll be close enough to get feel for the difference. If I'm wrong, I'll come back and retratct my support for 8 shot Major.
  22. So, are you in favor of Major 6/Minor 8, or do you want to see the division go to 8 rounds while allowing major simply based on chrono? I think we'd get the best long term results allowing 8 shots with major based on chrono, but I'll be happy with Major 6/ Minor 8 as that will still be a big improvement.
  23. A "bunch of other guns" that still won't be fun to shoot in an 8 round friendly USPSA match. Owning a revolver does not mean looking to shoot it competitively - or at all. I have not come across anyone with K or L frame looking to shoot USPSA. I have seen people from the public range pass by an ICORE match and mention that they own a revolver, but it wasn't what they were shooting that day. On the other hand, I do know people (including myself) who do not shoot USPSA Revo now but would if 8 shot was allowed. Nothing is going to make Revolver participation rival the other divisions, but allowing 8 shot guns will remove the current 6 shot mental gymnastics barrier and bring it more in line with the other divisions. Revolver Division will not work as a low cost entry in to USPSA. To make it survive and grow we must make it attractive to the competitive shooter, either from within USPA or from other disciplines, looking for something different or a way to shoot more often. Opening it to 8 shot guns (ideally allowing Major without the .40 cal minimum!!!) will do that.
  24. This post is to summarize my opinions on the various arguments in the multiple threads on changing Revolver Division rules. I am a mid-pack Single Stack & Limited USPSA shooter. I shoot Open, Limited and Classic in ICORE and all of the above at Tuesday Night Steel at Rio Salado. Some of what follows may be less than polite but, after having been cumulatively accused in these threads of being a shooter unable to tolerate major who is looking to make revo easy because I'm afraid of the effort required to shoot a revolver, my own feelings have been hurt. A stand alone Nationals is a fun specialty match but does nothing to increase local participation and should not be used to judge the health of the division. Most of the shooters from Rio Salado who went to Nationals do not normally shoot revo in USPSA. They all said it was a great match but none of them started shooting revo in our local USPSA matches after returning from Nationals. With an 8 shot revolver you can shoot stages in a manner similar to the other divisions and your score is determined by your ability to shoot a revolver. With a 6 shot revo your score is determined by your ability to figure out the least awkward way to make 6 shots work. A few people like this, but many do not. At Rio we have 30 to 40 people at an ICORE match but only one or two at a USPSA match. Many of them also shoot USPSA but choose not to shoot it with a revolver. The rationalization that there are only a few USPSA revolver shooters because people aren't willing to put in the effort to shoot a revolver just isn't true. Nothing will bring the storied thousands of people who own 6 shot .38/.357 revolvers out to shoot USPSA. USPSA attracts a small percentage of shooters and revolver owners are a small percentage of those shooters - go to any range and see how many are shooting revolvers. We don't have a vast untapped pool of revolver owners with a K or L frame sitting in a drawer wanting to jump directly to competitive shooting. And even if they did, they wouldn't enjoy it because of the 8 shot nature of the matches. The person we can attract to revo is the competitive shooter looking for something different, and who most likely will not want to shoot revolver exclusively. Opening it up to 8 shots lets them use similar stage planning skills and then fairly compare their results with their different guns. 6 shot revolver may be a rewarding mental challenge that appeals to a few but an 8 shot revolver is more about the shooting and fits in with the other USPSA divisions. I would prefer to just remove the 6 shot restriction and let people shoot 8 shot major if they like. Open up Revo and make it a division that appeals to the shooter who wants something new and challenging, and let him pick the nature of that challenge. But I'll be satisfied with 8 shot Minor. Edited for spelling, and again for grammar and more spelling.
