  1. Don't forget your swimming trunks guys.................. And lots of Bandaids................ And an FFL, we should have at least 24 guns on the prize table again. If anyone needs to ship ammo go to our web site for the address. The match has less than 5 slots left. And A-44978 if you find out at the last minute you don't like the sharp stick I will save you a slot... I am getting all giddy thinking about the match, what was it Johnny Cash said.... "Kickin and a gouging in the mud , the Blood, and the Beer." See you at the Range KyleL
  2. RHINO Here are the rules we use. I guess the reason we don't want a rule book is because we don't have enough to fill more than a page. Unless we use some HUGE print. North American Tactical 3-Gun Championships© Match Rules © This is a tactical match. All holsters and gear must be for duty use. This will be a physically and mentally demanding match. Please bring your good attitude with you. "The Range" is a cold range. No weapons will be loaded until directed by the range officer. Pistols will stay in the holster. Shotgun and rifle will be carried muzzle down, bolt to the rear. There will be no warnings. Unsafe handling of firearms will result in match disqualification. NO ALCOHOL will be consumed at the range. Scoring: Time will be added for each point that you drop. Time will also be added for misses and no-shoots. RO's decisions are final. PISTOL RULES No compensators or optics. Extended magazines are authorized for single stack pistols only. 140 mm mags - OK in all pistols. Iron sights only. Holster must retain gun securely throughout match. No speed holsters allowed. A loaded gun falling out of holster will result in a match DQ. All equipment must be for duty use. If it was designed specifically for IPSC it is not allowed. RIFLE RULES The same rifle must be used throughout the match. Optics are permitted, but only one per rifle. Optics may not be swapped between stages. Compensators are allowed. No bi-pods. No steel core ammunition. SHOTGUN RULES No optics or speed loaders. No compensators. Absolutely no porting allowed. Chokes may not be ported No steel shot. Barrels of no more than 22 inches are recommended due to the tightly confined shooting areas. No more than nine rounds in shotgun at any time. Bird shot is sufficient. Targets will be clay pigeons and steel plates. Now that you have read all of our rules.. aren't you completely disgusted. MAybe I should start my own Organization......I can see it now... 3. Some folks shoot IPSC for fun, some shoot it for training. If adding a new class gets more shooters then great! We will continue to shoot our Tactical match as it is. With Mikey Voigt in charge I think they will make the right decision. GBA KyleL
  4. Kurt, Hey let me know if you need a Comp Master.... I think it is great that Remington is supporting our sport. I actually tried a Benelli as well, it didn't work when it was brand new so I sent it back. It took 6 months and several phone calls to get it back. Remington has finally stepped up, I think we will see even more from them in the future. Oh and guess where it is made? USA ADIOS KyleL
  5. Patrick, We must further explain what we mean by laid back. The RO's at my match are there to get you safely throught the stages. They will tell you where the 180 is. At our match we will set up stages in such a way that the 180 will need to be pointed out. Our RO's are shooters first, they understand and their job is safety, not to be an RO jerk, like we all have experienced before. We have had several gamers show up to our match, gaming is fine. Now if you go away from the intent, we will have a problem. I know, I know, how do you know what my intent is. Well you know...... If ypou don't you probably shouldn't be carrying a gun. We are not casual about our rules, we enforce our lack of rules very diligently. Common sense is applied, and best of all I am King.... Do I want to see other matches like ours, yes, do I want to see more rules. NO Your rules are for the lowest common denominator, ours are not. I just want to shoot...... and have fun............ God Bless the USA!!!!!!!!!! KyleL
  6. WOW........ You guys are out of control. Rules, rules, rules.... Why do we sling long guns muzzle up? Why not muzzle down and in control. Kurt I heard you did well at Jeffs match, sounded like fun. I wanted to go but I had to go climb Mt St Helens instead. Check that off the list of gut checks, oh, we were going for speed too. ADIOS Kyle
  7. Wow, Way to go Kurt. Why can't you just sit down in the corner and behave... LOL I sat back for awhile and decided I just had to say my piece. We have run Tactical 3 gun matches for several years in NC. This year we are running the North American Tactical three Gun, Aug 9-10. Is it truly tactical, NO, we have no one shooting at us and we actually time you through the stages. It is still a game, not nearly as gamey tasting as IPSC. But still gamey. I have shot IPSC for years and do enjoy the sport, however, sometimes it is hard to take the stupidity. For example, IPSC RO's stammer and stutter when we say you will shoot your Rifle dry, then transition to your pistol to finish the course of fire. Now I will tell you what IPSC does at three gun that makes me drop the jaw. They allow you to just shoot your weapon off into the berm to make it clear, this is just crazy. This doesn't make sense. With proper course design and good RO's, it is all possible. Most people that shoot our match have remarked about our RO's, they are good because they are shooters first, RO's second. And they apply common sense... Something not often applied in large IPSC three gun matches. Now before I start getting a bunch of hate mail, I must say I have shot a few large three gun matches using IPSC type rules that were great. Carl Carbon in Washington does a fine job. He places empty boxes pointed in a safe direction, for the shooter to ground their blaster in. Or as Kurt said WEAPON in. Weapon, did I say weapon........ The Boys down in Bend do a pretty good job too. Mystery mountain is great as well. I think if Three gun is going to be successful we need to seperate USPSA three gun from the other matches. Shoot what you like, I like both, I just like Tactical three gun a little better. It also requires more realistic Weapons. Gordon, don't take anything personal on this page. Just enjoy the great info and discussions. I have dabbled in other forums and this is by far the best shooting forum out there. God Bless the USA KyleL VTAC
  8. Leo, I know you don't want to hear this but you will not get any support from Reed Knight. Even with the huge amount of SR's the military has purchased they receive pathetic support. I can tell you there are about 8-10 different types of SR magazines. If you can find any of the newer mags they may increase the reliability. Most of the fellas I know that purchased these weapons have opted for option two which is to sell the SR, buy two Ar-10's and be done with it. Or better yet, buy a AR-10 from JP. Are you having any problems with extraction/ejection? Alot of the rifles I have seen had bad chambers(actually all of the first issue) which increased pressure causing the rifle to unlock while still having pressure, which in turn shaved brass off into the ejector. The problem was eventually fixed but not by Knight. Stay in the fight, when they work they are great.... When, when, ............ KyleL
  9. Dick, Which Remington is your buddy shooting? Also make sure it is well oiled, including the gas system. Make sure it is a lube that deals well with hot gas.. Rem Oil or Fastex. KyleL
  10. Hey Guys, Thanks alot, I found the site. ADIOS KyleL
  11. Anybody know how to get ahold of Robert Wright at RAW Industries. He makes a cool platform activator that I am trying to buy. Any info would be appreciated. ADIOS KyleL
  12. Fellas, If you are interested here is a link to an article written by a friend of mine. Talks about alot of this info as well as Mil Dots. Mildot info Hope it works. ADIOS KyleL
  13. Todd, Sorry about that Todd, if I would have known you could read I would have let you know....LOL Glad you have finally joined the Best forum on the web... Now that we finally have your attention we can find out what you know about this whole three gun business......... Look forward to seeing you at our match.. ADIOS KyleL
  14. Rhino, Yes since the last posting we had a big three gun match... All tactical gear was used.... and the outcome. US Military High Overall Iraq..... DNF God Bless the USA!!!!!!! And thanks again to our brothers in England..
  15. Fellas, I sure am glad this has turned on ol Salmon Head... Last time I shot a match he had his mags each marked with a Capital letter.. didn't pay much attention but now I remember. They were marked M E L Y N D A.............. Now I am pissed. If anyone sees him, tell him I am after him... I can see it now, just like the roadrunner and coyote..... A big rock proped up and a trail of those little Powdered Sugar Donuts leading him to the trap..... Oh yeah.. we will get him. LOL KyleL
  16. If you want a proven performer go for the Remington 870. The military ordered a bunch of Mossbergs because they were cheap, and guess what they got, just what they paid for... The tang safety's work sometimes and when they quit you need a screwdriver to fix them. Remington has ambi safety, actually you can switch it back and forth, plenty of extras out there to add on, very reliable. And I don't think there is another good pump that is also made in the USA. Of course I could be wrong... KyleL
  17. Kelly, Now I have a goal, that will be to make you lose something out of those pouches..... LOL If anyone has questions on the gear just let me know. ADIOS KyleL
  18. Steve, Don't get scared off by crazy equipment, just come to the matches. Normally if you need to borrow some gear it isn't an issue. At least in the NC area. I have also shot with a few fellas out here in WA that will bend over backwards to help new shooters. As far as the tactical vest, use it if you want. We have alot of Military and Law Enf. guys that use their duty gear for the matches. Once you have attended a few matches it will be easier for you to determine what gear is necessary. USPSA does frown on camo. They just don't want CNN having more ammo against our sport. God Bless the USA!!!!! KyleL
  19. Mike45, Are you saying Easy Loader isn't legal for limited? I thought you just couldn't use the Tube speed loaders. The last nationals I shot a 11-87 with the extended bolt release. Or Easy loader. Anyway, I would make sure before you run out and buy one... KyleL
  20. Oh, and if you want to put a trigger group from a 12 gauge, 2 3/4" or 3" chambered gun in a 12 gauge, 3 1/2" gun, or vice versa, they won't work. KyleL
  21. Mike45, The trigger group is interchangeable, as long as the shotguns are of the same gauge. Hopefully we will see the new trigger group parts available soon from Remington. KyleL
  22. Simms Vibration Lab makes the new R3 recoil pad for Remington. If you have a synthetic stock you can put it right on, if not they will have a sandable version shortly. KyleL
  23. Brad, The gun I was shooting in the video was a prototype blaster. They actually extended it about 1/8 inch farther. If you are used to a EZ loader it will take you about 20 minutes to get used to the new button. I also like the fact that you don't get the mousetrap effect when you grab the bottom of the gun with the bolt locked back... or am I the only guy that slams his fingers in there... The new release should eliminate all the broken pins as well. Let me know if you have any other questions. KyleL
  24. The question I have is why would you slide the shotgun over your shoulder in a Tactical enviroment, wouldn't it make sense to load with your non firing hand so you could keep your muzzle towards the threat. Or should I say unknown. I believe the Jeff Cramblit technique of curling the shotgun in towards your bicep is the fastest I have seen. If you are rolling the blaster and releasing your forward grip this will slow you down. Also flipping the shotgun completely upside down will cause you to burn your hand as well. For three gun shooting it is a race.... No tactics involved, no threat, so shuck and jive.... KyleL
  25. Shawn, Yes the interceptor latch has been addressed and modified as well as the pin it sits on.. I think the high vis front sight is alot easier to pick up for quick shots and there are several rib mounted rear sights available. Hope you like the blaster... KyleL
