  1. Dillon, Regarding the case insertion, are you saying put a primed case in station 2, then put an empty case in station 1 and adjust the black piece that accepts and pushes the case into station 1? To adjust it in station 1, just put a case into station 1 and push the black inserting piece against the case in station 1, then tighten down the allen screw that holds it? Thanks
  2. Dillon, Thanks a million, really appreciate it. I will call tomorrow and check it, thanks.
  3. Tim, I load 40 only on my machine. I haven't loaded anything else on it. By the shellplate shoulder screw, are you talking about the bolt in the center of the shellplate? If I tighten that down, I can't cycle the handle, it is stuck. I have to loosen up the screw a little to be able to move the handle and cycle the press. The other piece you are referring to, is that the one to the left of the shaft/cam under the shellplate (if you are facing the machine)? Shred, the little ramp you are referring to, is that the one in station 1 that the case is dropped into and then pushed into place to be resized? It is silver? Thanks,
  4. Here is my problem. When I load, about a 1/3 of the time, the primer is a little offset and not perfectly rotated or indexed to the case. I'll have to slightly turn the shellplate to make it line up right and then I can feel the primer seat, otherwise, I feel the primer is not seating right and stops in its tracks, because it is being pushed on the headstamp. Also, about a 1/3 of the time, when the casefeeder drops a case in and it is being pushed into station 1 for decapping and resizing, the case will be slightly out of the shellplate or leaning out and when pulling the handle down to resize, the case doesn't go in the sizing die and I'll have to stick my finger in there to push it in, just a hair to get it in place. Any solutions?
  5. I've heard more people say that, "I wish I still had mine." I talked to Eric Grauffel a year ago at the Florida Open about the parts and durability thing. Eric shoots Tanfoglio, basically the same thing as a P9/Witness. He said Tanfoglio started making the parts out of different material and used stronger steel and components. It said they started this about 4-5 years ago and it has made them much more durable. I can't say for sure cause I don't shoot one, but just food for thought.
  6. Paul, Thanks for the praise, I really appreciate it. It was a much more difficult match than most thought. TDean, I think David Sevigny won Production, but the results are now up. Shred, I think in years past, (I've shot every one of the Florida Opens since it started) you used to get a match booklet, but it only briefly followed the actual stage. I don't follow the match book to often. I'd rather see the stage for real.
  7. Well the 2002 Florida Open is over and again, Frank put on a great match. It was a much harder match to shoot than most thought. Frank can lull you in to this by using the amoeba targets (smaller than normal IPSC targets) and giving you some longer shots and good stage design. Those who showed up to hose went home with lots of misses. I got to see and meet Travis Tomasie there and also saw Paul Whitacre. Travis and Paul are both super nice guys and enjoyed talking to them. I faired pretty good and can't really complain. I finished 5th Limited Overall, 2nd Grandmaster in class, and High Law Enforcement. There were some really good Limited shooters at this match. Thank goodness my gun ran perfect and shooting a new gun like I did, the FP10 really kept it oiled and working great.
  8. Bill, Thanks for the response, do you know anything about the aluminium nitride (I think it is black) and is it similiar. Also, what is your and the boards opinion about these types of finishes compared to hard chrome?
  9. I don't know about coatings, but I sent two of my mags to Grams Eng. He tuned them, polished them, put them back in specs and installed his follower, spring and base pad. It now holds 20 all the time and has worked for hundreds of rounds without malfunction. I only use the 20 rounders when I need them, otherwise, I use the standard 18 rounders.
  10. Pat, When you refer to Tin, are you meaning Titanium Nitride? I have the chance to have my guns coated with Aluminium Nitride (I think it is Black) or Titanium Nitride (I think it is gold). I heard they are good finishes for reducing wear and increasing the life of the parts. What do you know about these coatings? Thanks,
  11. TDean, You are absolutely right. They are the ones who have to deal with finishing lower and getting beat by lower class shooters and look that way, not you guys.
  12. Why is everyone upset over this? What's the big deal whether you're a *real* GM (whatever that means) or a paper one? Like Detlef said, you don't get anything for it. Why are you guys upset over a paper GM. Is it jealousy, anger or what, what are they getting that you aren't, NOTHING. It is simply a title in a classification system. If anything, you are not the one who gets embarrassed when beat by an A class shooter or such, when that shouldn't be happening. They are the ones getting beat and looking like that, not you, so why are you upset? So the guy had a good several months or year and got bumped up, so what. Give the guy credit and let it go. Is it because some are tired of being called sandbaggers because they beat or almost beat a paper GM when they are an A class or lower?
  13. I had one in my gun for several years (Limited) with thousands of rounds through it. Never had any problems with mine and didn't have any malfunctions with it. It was the tungsten rod. The recoil was a little softer, but inconsistent. With the normal tungsten rod, the felt recoil is a little stiffer, but not by much. The recoil and tracking is much more consistent and that is what I am looking for.
  14. Brian, You use Hornady One Shot and you don't have to tumble or dry them after you load them? They dry by themselves in the air or what? This sounds nice. I used to use the Dillon case lube and liked the way it made the brass feel, it made me think I was reloading new brass all the time, but I hated dragging the tumbler and sifter out everytime I reloaded.
  15. Well Byron, This is my first installment when testing the Grams parts, and tuning. First off, Beven is a hell of nice guy and has a lot of info on tuning mags and what makes them work. Second, I got my mags back tuned and ready to "race" very quickly. They look great and the mods he made to them look fantastic. I shot them yesterday at the range for a quick practice session. I loaded the mags up all the way and shot 80 rounds out of each one (2 of them). Functioning was flawless, perfect, no jams of any kind. So far they are working out great, I'll let you know.
  16. You guys are lucky men. Maybe next year, I'll make it and get to attend TGO's class and the match. Good luck guys, hope you do well.
  17. Hey Jack, I agree, if the Lim 10 had its own Nationals, that would be awesome. I was thinking along the same lines as you about Sharon "Edington" Zaffiro?? As far as I know, Merle or Sharon haven't shot in several years. I try to keep a pretty good eye on the major match results and they haven't been in ANY of them for several years. I shoot in the Southeast at matches they would definitely be at if they were shooting and haven't seen or heard of them in a long while. I'm not sure what made them stop/quit shooting. I didn't know anything about the divorce?? or remarry thing though. If that's the case, it really shocked me.
  18. Brian, Didn't Robbie used to shoot a single stack .40 (5 inch)? Especially when he won all those Single Stack Classics. If so, what mags did he use then and how many did they hold? I thought they held 10 rounds.
  19. Byron, I currently use 4 SVI and 2 STI tubes. All magazines have Arrendondo (red) followers, ISMI springs, and Arrendondo flat base pads. I have had great success so far with no problems. However, I have to admit that I just sent off 1 SVI and 1 STI mag to Beven Grams at Grams Engineering. He is going to put both mags back in specs, install his follower, spring, and base pad on both of them. I will then test them to see how they work and function and make sure they are reliable. Plus, he makes them legally hold 20 rounds of .40 and run perfect. I have to say, his reputation is flawless from everything I've heard, read, and everyone I've talked to. From talking to him on the phone, he definitely seems to know his sh*t when it comes to mags. Give me a little bit to test them when I get them back and I'll let you know. I'm sure I will be extremely happy.
  20. Mike, The prize table last year was a little "slimmer" than in the previous years. I've shot all three of the Florida Opens since its inception and the first two years, the prize table was better than last years. Great match though, great props, stages, RO's and some great fun.
  21. Superglider, Remember, the recoil spring does have to be heavy enough to cycle the slide. I use an 11lb spring. I've heard of some using a 9lb spring, but not much lower than that.
  22. I talked to Joe Kessler a few years ago and he said he used to use AA#9 in his Open gun. He said he liked it, but it was extremely abrasive. He said it was like a sandblaster on his comp, it would take the finishes right off of it. He also said the powder would get stuck on the baffles of the comp and every fourth or fifth round, it would ignite the unburnt powder left over on the baffles and have a large explosion and flash.
  23. Man u guys are good! Brian, how bout we keep your name on the forum and Bonedaddy, Pat and the other members will just answer the rest.
  24. Dave, Currently I use ISMI springs (recoil, mainspring, magazine) and have very happy. I shoot approx 12,000 rounds a year and change mag springs and recoil springs once a year in May. I've had the same mainspring for several years. I've had great results w/ them. I'm sure the Wolff is stuff is great too or they wouldn't have been around for as long as they have. Kevin
  25. John Thompson, Are you sure you're not thinking of one of their other models? The triggers are not bad at all. They are long, I'll admit it, but they are pretty smooth and the feel and pull is the same for the entire trigger travel.
