  1. Hey Matt, it's Kevin. Depending on the type of vest/or concealment you wear, if you have one of the photographers vests, the pockets on the sides are pretty big and easy to get to. I usually throw it in my weak side pocket on the vest.
  2. I'm coming to shoot the Nationals in August. What shooters in Oregon/Washington shoot .40 with 180gr or 200gr JACKETED bullets and VV N320 powder? What are the loads you use to make major up there? I know what makes major here in Florida, but I've the heard the altitude and atmospere changes loads. I use VV N320 with either 180 or 200gr jacketed bullets in 40. What is your load and OAL. THanks
  3. Shooter40, I also agree, once you start using it, you want it everytime you shoot or it doesn't feel right. The stuff shred is talking about in the tennis aisle is made by the company "Prince". They are a maker of tennis rackets, bags, balls and about everything else tennis related. If you guys are in a pinch and need something fast to replace your ProGrip and can't find any, go to a sports store and get the bottle of grip enhancer by "Prince". I tried some and it is exactly like ProGrip, color, drying, feel, etc. BE, So TGO doesn't use anything on his hands at all when shooting? Maybe dirt is the way to go, it worked for Russell Crowe in Gladiator?
  4. Hey Phil, You're very welcome, I'm just telling it like it is! I was a little disappointed I didn't get to shoot w/ you as well, but I'll get over it in 6 or 7 months, HAHA. Anyway, congrats, shot one helluva match. I'm definitely going to the Limited Nationals. I think the Summer Blast falls on the Fl Police Olympics weekend. I got railroaded into that one, but oh well. I would love a Nationals in Jacksonville. But then again, anyone who lives on the east coast would.
  5. Well Area 6 is over, and congratulations to all who shot it. I didn't do as well as I had hoped, but won't complain. Back to the drawing board for more work. I was suprised by the amount of GM and M Limited shooters at the match. I think there were 13 GM Limited shooters. Phil Strader won Limited, Max Michel won Open. Anyone who gets a chance to watch Phil shoot his Limited gun, its worth the price of admission and then some!!!!!!!!! Phil flat out ROCKS with iron sights. Phil went to warm up and do a run on the plate rack (6 plates Bianchi style) and with a loaded gun in holster, hands at sides, he wrecked the plates in 2.33. Phil is a SUPER nice guy and will help anyone who asks. I can't say enough good things about him. It is a pleasure to shoot with him and a class in of itself.
  6. There will almost definitely be a difference in power factor. You don't have to use as much powder w/ lead bullets. You will have to use more powder w/ jacketed bullets to make the same velocity or power factor as w/ lead bullets. Most everyone switches to jacketed because of the smoke factor. It is a real pain in the ass when you can't take the shot because the lead bullets have created a smoke cloud and you lose because of it.
  7. SS, Ok, sounds good. I'm also staying at the match hotel. I'll be getting there probably around 7 or 8pm Friday night. I got stuck going to a LEO Gang class on Friday in Tampa and I'll leave after the class. I'll send you a PM w/ my cell # and you can get a hold of me.
  8. Thanks everyone, appreciate it. Les, Gene Caudell gave pretty much the same info, just wanted to check and see what the rest of the 3 gun community was thinking.
  9. PaulW, You goin to be at Area 6? Singlestack, If you want get w/ me at Area 6 and I can show you my mag buttons that I talked about in the post.
  10. I'll try my damnedest, It might be hard w/ the kids and school starting early in August, however, I really want to go to this one.
  11. I'll also be there. So will Phil Strader and probably Kert Gaskill, Jeff Gambrell, etc. We will get several fantastic shooters there. I'm sure Todd and several others will be there as well. I met Shepard at the Fl STate Championship. Super nice guy. If you guys find me, come by and say HI, Kevin Insco (TY31384)
  12. Patrick, very interesting. I heard the bad things about going 50% or lower has on real life situations. We try not to do this in Defensive Tactics in Law Enforcement, but sometimes they had to cause the weak would never make to the streets to work. Sorry for thread drift.
  13. I don't normally use a timer for dry fire practice. Honestly, when I do, it is for more of a training for reaction time and hearing the beep than my actual time. I might use it for time when live firing some, but even then only a little.
  14. Looks pretty good Byron, let us know how it does and works out.
  15. Just picked up Dillon's CD w/ all the different targets on it. NOt bad, I think it was well worth it. A shit load of targets of all kinds on it. If some guys get bored and tired of shooting at the same old thing, they have little game on it. Sheets w/ cards and tick tack toe, numbers, etc. Kind of nice for BS plinking. Also, he has just A zone's, IPSC A/B zones, middle of poppers. Kind of nice.
  16. I know some use the tape over the weak eye, some use only one eye open, and others use both eyes. Travis is a good one to ask about both eyes, does it very well. I think BE uses the tape.
  17. Out of you rifle/3gun shooters out there, which AR mags are good to buy that work. I see tons of them out there, but have heard horror stories about some of them and their reliability and quality. I will trust the IPSC guys on what they use because I know we use them over and over, test and play w/ everything, shoot them till they're dead and won't use it unless it works. What do you say?
  18. ErikW, You are absolutely right, this is what makes IPSC (to me) the "shit". You can walk up to the world's best and they'll talk to you like they have known you forever and tell you what they use and why. Take pictures and sign autographs as much as you want. Other sports, you can't get an anything from them, let alone tips, advice, or having lunch w/ them. Cooley's article was great, especially for guys just starting 3 gun, gets them going in the right direction from the beginning, so they don't go on wild goose chase and get burned out.
  19. Timothy, I already tried adjusting the case insertion inward as much as I can and it still wanted to do this. I finally just broke down and got a Lee single station press for about $20 and put the Lee sizing die in it. I now resize and deprime in the single station press and then just load them all in the case feeder. A little extra work, but I now get to inspect the cases a little better by looking at each one of them when going through the Lee single station sizer and don't have the problem of primers going all over anymore, they all come out before going in the 650. Now, the brass loads like new brass, or even better. Man, that Lee die is tight. Also, I tested to see if it was the Lee die causing the problem. I put the Dillon die back in and the press ran perfect. It had to be the tightness of the Lee die. DBChaffin, I'll think about the Lee Crimp die, for only $12, it couldn't hurt. Is the consensus the Lee Crimp die is better?
  20. Thanks Rich, I'll give it a shot. Otherwise, I'm looking into buying a single stage Lee press only to resize the cases in, that's how much I like the Lee die and how well it resizes, but that is a lot of extra work!! Jerome, I look into it. When the round doesn't go in the gauge, it is stopped at the bottom or bulge, by the case head. It always goes in at the top by the bullet, it gets stuck at the bottom. I don't know if the crimp die would affect the bulge?
  21. I think I found my problem. I forgot I had a Lee Precision sizing die in. When I put the Dillon sizing die back in, it worked great. I like the Lee die cause it sizes them tighter and seems to all the way down. The Lee die seems to size .001-.004 tighter in the bottom of the case than the Dillon. I have loaded 2400 rounds with the Lee die and have chamber checked every one of them. Every Lee sized case has chamber checked, EVERYTIME. With the Dillon die, about 2-4 out of every 100 loaded doesn't fit the chamber gauge. Wonder if there is anyway to make the 650 work with the Lee die? ----- Kevin/IPSC Supercop

  23. Anyone know how to adjust the amount of case insertion into station 1 of the 650 w/ casefeeder? I followed Dillon's rule for this w/ the primed case, but can't find how to adjust station 1 for not over-inserting or under-inserting a case. Also, when I seat my primers, right as the roller handle/arm get to the top, the last little bit of push (I thought I needed to seat the primer all the way) causes my shellplate to "dip" or "tilt" toward the right side. Any suggestions? ----- Kevin/IPSC Supercop What do you guys think?

  25. I don't know what happened to Merle? I know he got divorced, but that's it. The money issue plus the stress of being sponsored and having to finish at the top all the time I'm sure takes it toll on them. Some just get burned out having to always place at the top and "get up" for every match, major or local, you shoot. Just my .02
