  1. we dont do ANY registration in ezws... just started with SSI and is working well. to your question, yes we handle walkups in PS. the basic flow is now online reg with SSI ( i close registration at midnight the night before ) and then the morning of the match i export to ezws and then export to PS. once in PS all we do is goto edit shooters/squads and add new shooter. you wouldnt know they were a walkon. once the match is up and running if we have a late arrival we use the add walkon/shoot thru or whatever its called now from the handled. as far as importing back into ezws from PS we have found the only reliable way is to use the Practiscore exporter posted on PS home webpage. it finds the master device over wifi and pulls the info it needs for ezws. hope this helps Andrew Thanks Andrew - I'll try the PractiScore Exporter utility. (I came across it recently, but I just assumed it was a way to get files off the PS device and onto a PC... I didn't realize it had additional capabilities in terms of facilitating the actual import into EWS!) I have been wondering how others were making out with importing PS files into EWS, because this part of the process has been a struggle for me in the few months working with PS. As it turned out, the import problem I was having was related to one of my shooters' names having a comma in the last name (e.g. LastName, Jr.). Devin at PractiScore figured it out, and once the comma was removed, the registration imported properly. It's worth noting that the PS export utility only moves files from the scoring device to a computer - it doesn't do anything additional to assist with tweaking the files to facilitate import.
  2. This was brought up at our last monthly match by George Jones (after seeing PractiScore for the first time)... The review screen only shows totals, and really there's no reason why the individual targets couldn't be shown here as well. As an interim work around, you can just go back into the "Score Targets" screen, and show the shooter their individual hits.

  4. cellguy - do you generally have walk-ons the morning of the match (who did not pre-register)? If so, how do you handle them? We had an issue getting our registrations imported into EWS this month, and I think it was related to handling the pre-registrations in EWS. (We then exported them to PS, added walk-on shooters the morning of the match, and were unable to import back into EWS). The previous month, we did not use EWS for any pre-registrations, and had no problem importing PS registrations into EWS...
  5. Beautiful! I love the 5" rail with a 5.4" slide... I think the 5.4" guns are really going to take off - they are the best of both worlds.
  6. I agree. What I've started to do at the beginning of our monthly matches is pull aside one or two folks from each squad who volunteer to be "in charge" of the Nook for their squad for the match, and give them a quick tutorial/refresher on using PractiScore on an NST... just a few quick minutes to cover the highlights of how to ensure that all of their squads' scores are captured properly (a VERY simple task for anyone familiar with PractiScore). I've found that this strategy helps instill accountability for all scores being entered, and also builds a base of knowledgeable PractiScore users.
  7. Sounds like at this point, using EWS as an itermediary is still the easiest way to go... (JC - thanks for your work in putting together a nice web tool to convert the SSI exports to make them better import into EWS!) Ken, when you get PS to directly accept SSI exports (or some other online pre-registration system), this process will take an appreciable leap forward.
  8. What is the output of Shoot n Score? PS can import txt files, but I'm not sure how things would need to be formatted... I saw in another thread that Ken from PS indicated that they were committed to making PractiScore work directly with various online registration tools; the last post on this was a few months ago, so I was hoping something promising had been devised by this point.
  9. Agreed - I'd like to limit EWS use to final scores submission only. Registering users one at a time as they send an e-mail is certainly doable, but I'd really rather let an online system aggregate all the per-registrations, and then export from whatever online system to a text file, and import that into PS... if that's feasible.
  10. My club doesn't currently have online registration, so I'm looking to set something up from scratch... I did a search and found some info (a few months old now) on how some folks have accomplished this, but typically it involved using EWS as an intermediary (i.e. export from an online registration system into EWS, then export out of EWS to PractiScore). What is currently the easiest process to use in order to set up online registration, and export/import directly into PractiScore before the match, such that additional registrations can be added the morning of the match for walk-ons, etc.?
  11. Thanks Bill - good to know it wasn't just me... now that I have one up and running well, it's on to the next 5! Mark - one thing I noticed about some of the cases is that they can make it hard to touch the edges of the screen. This really doesn't become an issue within PractiScore for the most part - except for using the back arrow located at the top/center of the screen. Because of this, we looked around and found a case that has a cut-out just above the top center, wide enough to facilitate getting at the back arrow. (Let me know if you want a link)
  12. I got my Nook rooted, but I've hit a roadblock trying to get PractiScore loaded onto it... 1) Internet browser(s) not working, so I can't download PractiScore apk The device is connected to my wireless network, but after typing in a url and tapping GO, the browser starts connecting for a second, and then it suddenly closes. (The Opera Mini browser won't even load.) 2) Can't get to the Google Play/App Market to download a file browser Even though I have it registered with Google and YouTube (I created new accounts just for club scoring purposes), I get a "Server error has occurred..." message every time I try to access the Google Play app market from the Nook. 3) I also tried the Amazon App Store route to get a file browser... whenever I try to download an app, (Click the "FREE" button next to the app, then the "GET APP" button, I just get a big white box with an "OK" button in the middle. After clicking OK, nothing happens. I know there is also a process to load files via adbWireless and the Android SDK on a PC, but at present I only have access to a desktop PC with no wifi - which I'm assuming would be a requirement to work with the Nook via adbWireless (?) Any suggestions for getting PS loaded? ** EDIT TO ADD -- All of a sudden I am able to connect to the Google Play/App Market... so I was able to download a file browser and load PractiScore. Not sure why I was suddenly able to get into Google Play when it gave me an error message at every attempt for the last several days (?)
  13. Thank you Chuck. Anything else new? More can be seen here: http://www.uspsa.org....php?meeting=31 I'm a bit late to this thread, and at this point, there is no longer any info posted at this url... is there anywhere that still summarizes recent rule changes?
  14. I've been thinking about this, and it makes some sense - we really haven't seen any of the "living" get killed other than with a head shot - except for one thing... If this is the case, then why (in the previews for this Sunday's episode) do a bunch of walkers appear all of a sudden? Seems like something weird just happened to cause the sudden walker infestation...
  15. Awesome car, and sweet photos... Well said, Steve... I may have to borrow that one!
  16. I would have no problem with an 80-page rule book - if it was consistent among all the major matches, and was representative of what the 3-gun shooting majority felt was appropriate. Getting back to the original discussion, I agree that a 30-round mag* rule (*limiting shooters to a mag of 30-round capacity) would be appropriate in Lim/Tac Optics. There should be no specific exclusion to monopoding...
  17. Some really great points in there, Charles. Hopefully these will get some traction within USPSA...
  18. Jesse and Kalani - thanks... that's kinda what I was thinking. I just signed up for a range that has 300yd bays, so sighting in properly shouldn't be a problem. For a while now, l've basically been looking for a cheaper Z6i alternative, but I keep coming back to it. Most recently I've been checking out the Leupold VX-R scopes (and the new VX-6 1-6x scopes that borrow the fire dot reticles as well)... but they just don't seem to measure up.
  19. All you guys that use ~100 yard zeros.to get the first hold-over on at about ~300 yards... what is your hold reference for 200 yards?
  20. The new Leupold VX-6 1-6x with the ballistic fire dot reticle (borrowed from the VX-R) looks pretty promising... Has anyone been using a VX-R that can comment on the quality of the illuminated dot, etc.?
  21. Well said, Supermoto... very well said. I totally agree with all 5! Late starts can sometimes be avoided, too. Often times folks get a little carried away with long, drawn out walk throughs that go into way more detail than necessary. As for the target contrast issue, I've been burned by this one, so this really stands out for me. Steel at 100 yards that that can't be seen with a quality scope at 4x even in decent light - let alone with the naked eye - just isn't good enough. I can understand that it would take too much time to paint it between shooters, but at least between squads maybe? Or if not, how about a piece of plywood behind painted a good contrasting color...
  22. This is a great idea - thanks Jansen and Dean for putting this together!! I shoot Open, so it sounds like I will be out of luck for the series final standings... but will Open division be permitted/recognized for the individual matches? (Any chance you guys would consider splitting the series finishes up by division and recognize a few more divisions for that as well? : )
  23. Are Warne rings another solid choice?
