  1. I wouldn't say it if it werent true. Steaks are delicious Steaks...MMMMMM...Steaks
  2. I found a cool little trick that stemmed from my being too cheap to buy a primer flip tray. My home computer is slower than all get out so I'll try to get some pictures to go with this tomorrow, but this will give you the general idea. 1. Start off with an empty primer tray and a piece of the cardboard they come in. 2. Put the empty primer tray on top of the full one and make sure they are perfectly lined up and then flip them over. This gets all of the primers upside down. 3. Place the cardboard packaging against the upside down primers in the new tray, hold tightly and flip them over. 4. Very carefully place the flipped primer tray on the table with the cardboard on the bottom. 5. While holding down on the primer tray slide the cardboard out from under the primers. 6. Lift of the tray, and WALA! You have perfectly lined up primers that can all be placed into a pickup tube in about 33 seconds. It takes a couple of tries to get it perfect, but after that you can have them flipped over and picked up in no time. Because they are so evenly spaced picking them up gets to be really fast. TG
  3. You would lose that bet by a longshot. Only about a third of the matches that we sponsored last year bought anything from us and the ones that did made relatively small purchases. Match fees do not have anything to do with money spent on prize tables - that is a myth. On average 90-95% of the prizes are donated in return for vendor space or so called advertising in the match book, etc. Ok, so I lose the bet. I can't speak for all vendors, and all matches, but from first hand experience SOME matches buy a large amount of the prizes that are on the table. The one in particular I'm most familiar with was not sponsored by Brazos. Sorry to lump everyone in the same pile. I am able to speak for both sides of the table when it comes to both pistol matches and 3 gun. We put on one of the largest 3 gun matches in the nation and the only thing we buy are timers at a discounted rate from CED which we give away at the end of the match (Thanks CED). EVEYRTHING else on the prize table is donated by sponsors. All of the money we get from entry fees goes into the match and paying the meager salaries we can afford to the ROs. One thing we like to pride ouselvs on is being one of the biggest target manufacturer contibuters to both USPSA and 3 gun matches. To the best of my knowledge we have never donated cash to a match. We always donate targets as either prizes or contributions to the club hosting the match. Like Jake said, most of the people don't shoot the matches for the prizes, but we still need to make sure we don't forget the people who do sponsor the matches. TG
  4. One last thing I would like to add. When you have been given the LAMR command load your mag then just like you would if you were doing it on the clock and make it perfect. I have found that if you push it in nice and easy and listen for that click to make sure the mag is seated, sometimes that will cary into your stage. I have done this and I felt like a total idiot. No one else even noticed it, but I could tell I was taking my sweet time. When you are loading, stuff that thing in there good and hard, just like you would during the stage. If you want to make sure it is in there, pull on it. You should be doing this before you reholster anyway, right along with a press check. Perfect practice makes perfect, and as far as I am concerned, at the LAMR command is just one more place to make sure I am going to have a nice smooth reload. TG
  5. A little tip I learned is to put a small white dot of paint just on the inside of your magwell. What you want to do then is look right at that dot and push your mag right past it. It doesn't look like you are missing, but if you have something to focus on, you might relax a little bit. Like all of the guys above have said, relax. Smooth is fast. The one other thing I noticed is that you are doing your reload way away from your body. It might not hurt to bring it in a little closer. By doing this, you will use more of the muscles in your arms to make the reload instead of all in your shoulders. Your video is on the same page as Travis Tomasie's barracks reloads. Watch that over and over and over and.....You get the drift. Pay close attention to what he is looking at. You will notice that he watches every single reload all the way into the gun and then regrips and pushes out. They are all indeed seperate motions, but very well blended together. Take all of this advice for what it is worth TG
  6. TG.. It was Parma that I got the idea from! You guys did it right. So it was worth the trip out ! TG
  7. I had just one. My AR at Superstition last year. Had a round not go all the way into battery. When I pulled the trigger, luckily it was far enough in battery I didn't get hurt. All of the gases and force went right into my 30 round mag which was about 3/4 full at that point. It bulged the mag and blew all of the bullets out into a nice little pile right in front of me. To much fun. TG
  8. I don't see them used very often, but I think it is a good idea to have a CURRENT rule book in them. Also some replacement batteries and a clipboard. TG
  9. It is sort of fun stirring the pot a little bit isn't it? TG
  10. I know a guy that is trying to get rid of a 550. If you would like me to check on the price for you, send me a PM. TG
  11. What makes it even worse is when one of those not helping is a junior. Bruce I was a CRO at our area match. I had a jr shooter all dressed up like a mini Eric G. He was wih his dad. I watched him shoot two stages and never lift a inger to help. he was joking about it while he was was watching an older woman reset the steel on e stage. I blame the father for allowing it. HOLY CR@P! It is a darn good thing I was not there to see that! One of my pet peeves in life is the lack of respect kids have for their elders now days. I am not THAT old, but things like that really get under my skin. I would have had a hard time not going up to the kid and saying to him loud enough that his dad could hear, "You know you should show a little respect for your elders. It is too bad you don't have a father that knows that and could teach you that." Man that sort of thing gets me wound up!! TG
  12. Sorry about that last one. Here is my wife and I in Anchorage a couple of summers ago. Probably wouldn't be too bad of a picture if it wasn't for my ugly mug taking up better than half of it! TG
  13. You are all pretty lucky, but I found myself a real diamond in the rough.................REALLY ROUGH! OH MY WORD! THAT IS JUST NOT RIGHT!!! I am sorry! I couldn't help myself!!!
  14. There is another thread running right now called Perception of Speed. I would put a link in here but I am not that "with it". In there a gentleman had a quote that went something like this, "the perception of speed is the presence of chaos". That may not be word for word, but you get the drift. If you feel like you are going fast, it is usually because you are out of control or neglecting certain skills that are necessary for a good performance. I took this to heart for the match last weekend to give it a try. It worked great! I never once felt like I was rushing and I always felt in control and new what I was going to do next. There was one stage that had some pretty long shots and some very tight steel shots (no shoots behind them and hard cover in front). I didn't drop a single point and only took one shot at each steel. I wasn't the fastest on that stage, but I had enough points to end up third or fourth overall. I was happy. Don't do like I did and waste the first six months of your shooting career trying to go fast. Never squeeze (notice I didn't say pull) the trigger without an acceptable sight picture, move smooth, and most of all be safe. With that and a little dry fire, you will make very rapid progress. TG
  15. I have heard from a trusted source that the scope is in the mail and headed to Joslyn. I don't have any details regarding why it took so long or what the rest of the story is. TG
  16. So it looks like Storm Lake, KKM, or Lone Wolf would all be good choices. I'll do a little more research myself and see what I can come up with. Thanks again for all of your insight. It is greatly appreciated. TG
  17. Thanks for the compliment. Most people aren't quite as kind as you. Most of the time I hear things like, "Your pretty fast for a FAT KID", or "Your just like a freight train! It takes you a while to get moving, but when you do, the only way you are going to stop fast is by crashing into something!", and my personal favorite, "You move pretty good! Your sort of like a 230gr .45 bullet. Round and smooth!" TG
  18. I prefer the term "Grandbagger" TG
  19. I've been doing a little chatting! The sound of a 147gr bullet doing 860fps is starting to sound alright! If I have to worry about PF though, I don't think I'll ever give up my Para. Man!!! I LOVE THAT PISTOL!!! Thanks for all of the info gentlemen. I'll keep checking back to see what else pops up. I am a huge fan of customer service. TG
  20. At this match I am satisfied with being first looser! I even ended up ahead of Manny on a couple of stages. I hope the class went well Manny. At lunch time when I was leaving I had guys telling me what a great class it was. Glad all you guys could make it out! If you had a good time. That is the same sort of match we get three times a month. Yea..I'm bragging. 21. I thought the same thing, but I was just told by the reginal Glock armorer, Glen Wisser, that even shooting plated bullets will lead to tumbling in about 5 yards. My Pop experienced it this weekend. We are both shooting Berrys plated bullets (180gr .40) and every one of his holes was torn out. Even a bunch at 2'! I am just too cheap to buy Montana Golds all of the time. I figure I will be way ahead if I buy a barrel and shoot plated bullets. Let me know what you think. TG
  22. I am looking for some advice from people who have shot a bunch of different aftermarket Glock barrels. I know which ones are popular, and that may be because they are the best, but I would like to hear from people who have shot more than just the popular ones. Or, if you have shot one of the not so popular ones, why do you or do you not like it. A couple of the things I would like you to consider when you reply are: Quality - how long will your favorite brand last? Maintenance - If you slack on the maintenance, does the accuracy really go in the toilet? Price - Did you pay an arm and a leg and get a pile of road apples? Customer service - After your order, how long did it take to get your order, and was the staff helpful? Another purchase - If you shot 100K rounds out of the barrel and you need another one, which one would you get? Would it be the same one you just wore out or another one and why? Thank you in advance for your help. I should be getting a new Glock in the next day or two for my 3gun pistol and I want to make sure I am taking care of it from the beginning. I don't plan on getting another one soon! TG
  23. .16 fastest and .19 slowest. There was two where I was prepping the "trigger a little too much and had an AD! TG
  24. The thing that upset me about the piece was that they referred to them as "assault rifles". That wasn't the only thing but it is the one that I remember the most. TG
