  1. All, Thanks for the replies! I still think I would measure standard deviation as a population instead of a sample, but I like dialog... thanks again! Scott
  2. Why does my chronograph calculate standard deviation as a sample and not as a population? I get that the recorded shots are a sample of all the rounds of that lot that could be fired, but I'm really only interested in the shots that were fired. Looking forward to some knowledge
  3. I'm going with grip-tape for the time being... but I have contacted the builder to determine cost/time to convert to a Serendipity.
  4. I'm looking for a broader, higher grip surface my weak-hand thumb. I've shot a couple of open guns that had a c-more Serendipity which has legs on both sides of the frame. The right leg gives a broader, higher grip surface for the weak-hand thumb than just the frame below the slide. And, while i'm going to consider a thumb-rest, I'm more likely to have the single-sided mount changed out for a Serendipity.
  5. There you go, that's what I'm talking about Thanks!
  6. I'm new to open and shooting a shorty with a single-sided C-More mount. After much fiddling around I've decided that I would prefer a Serendipity with mounting brackets on both sides because the only place for my weak-hand (right) thumb is the frame and that's just not large enough. The frame is not drilled on the right-side so anything will require a gunsmith to drill and tap the frame. I'm thinking my options are having a Serendipity installed or some sort of thumb-rest. Looking forward to any thoughts/feedback/comments before I ship it off
  7. Liked it. Don't think it's all that profound. The twist was interesting, but I don't know that it added much meaning.
  8. It was a fun stage... the poppers really made people look at it twice.
  9. Thanks for the additional info.. I am going to look into the lapping... some of the High Power / Service Rifle guys I know swear by using Tubb's Final Finish http://www.davidtubb.com/finalfinish.html which is a lapping system. Thanks!
  10. Thanks to both for the replies. Yep, it shoots fine; more accurate than I am. I'll just enjoy shooting it. Thanks, Scott
  11. Evening everyone. It's been a while since I posted here, hope everyone is doing well. On to my question... while cleaning my 625-3, I noticed a faint ring inside the barrel, about where the frame ends. Unscientific testing seems to indicate the ring is right at the barrel/frame joint. It's faint, but definitely noticeable. I've attempted to take some photos of the ring. Pics here I would appreciate any insight... I've never had a squib in this gun and don't recall the ring always being there. Thanks ahead of time, Scott
  12. My antique SVI runs the tj brass fine but my shellplate on my 550 won't hold the brass correctly. It slips out on the sizing downstroke.
  13. There is definitely a lot of gun handling.
  14. Anyone watching 'Justified'? Evidently it's based on a short story by Elmore Leonard. The guy who was the lead in the 'Hitman' movie is a US Marshal. I've seen two episodes, but don't think it has the stuff to last... it's no Shield.
  15. So, if you win a slot at an Area match, is it for the current year or the following year? For example, if someone wins a slot at the upcoming Area 6, is the slot for the 2010 or 2011 nats?
  16. Cute, congrats! Our first is 10 months old... it's the best!
  17. Javier, I have a couple of the Hougue smooth wood with finger grooves if you would like to try them while here in GA. Why don't you come to our Sunday night shoot in Cumming this Sunday night? That way you can get all set up for Cherokee on the 13th. Scott
  18. Thanks for the responses. It was before a match and I was above the shooting area getting equipment down.
  19. Tonight I fell through a ceiling (like a dumb*ss) because I stepped where I shouldn't have. Eight feet or so to a concrete floor and busted up my ribs. And at a match no less!
  20. Thanks for the responses. I ended up with an SVI. It may have been the same one you were looking at JRBean
  21. You know, someone should come up with an index or concordance for Brian's book. I'm just saying...
