  1. I went with the LineX spray-in liner and the Agi-cover Access roll-up cover. Couldn't be happier. Thanks!
  2. We shot one that looked much like this on Saturday. I can't say that people liked it, but they definitely found it interesting. For my own part, I couldn't figure out how to shoot it. The pasters were definitely blown off the target behind the barrel; live and learn On my squad, two shooters shot through the barrels and did well. not_baseball.ppt
  3. Thank you both for the feedback, it is much appreciated. You both touched on issues for which I have not been able to find an definitive answer. I've scoured the rulebook and club program guide to no avail. The questions are: 1) What is the rule/guidance on props within the shooting area? For example, can wall supports or a barrel be within a shooting area? 2) Regarding start position, I asked a local match director this question last week. He agreed that people should be able to start anywhere they like, but in three+ years of shooting I've never seen a "start where you like" stage. Even at this year's Nationals the starting position was defined. Good point regarding freestyle; My way of thinking was/is to get away from stage descriptions that dictate shooting positions and let the props do that. Also I like your point about barricades vs. no-shoots. Scott P.S. Regarding 6-round neutral, I've been shooting revo this year and am tired of standing reloads
  4. All, These two stages are my initial successful attempts that at stage design. I've tried several ideas and these are two (very similar) stages that shooters seemed to enjoy. We have run each of these stages a couple of times. They usually end up being slightly different based upon available props and and the width of the bay. The idea behind each is freestyle, movement, choices, 6-round neutral and asymmetrical. Freestyle - shooters can shoot it anyway they want; use props to restrict unsafe or unwanted actions Movement and choices - Give shooters the option of taking difficult shots from one or two positions or force movement for easier shots. 6-round neutral - Make it 6-round neutral without being obvious, Asymmetrical - I am personally tired of everything being symmetrical. I also like stages that are 21 rounds or more as this encourages Limited shooters to reload, and Production shooters to reload more than once if they make up a shot. The first stage, Side Start, has shooters starting of to the side in the middle of the stage. The shooter will have to back up to get at some point, but has the option of shooting from the barricade and then backing up, or backing up and then shooting front-to-back. The second stage, Choices, let's Open shooters draw on the steel, take a step to the left and shoot the rest of the stage from one position while most other shooters are encouraged to move. It's difficult (for me) to show on a 2D ppt slide, but the single target on the right behind the barrel has a no shoot in front of it to discourage a 180 violation. Also, the start position can be moved around. The last time we shot it the start position was outside box A, facing downrange, toes on marks on the outside right corner. This worked well as shooters stepped in A and drew on the steel plate. Thanks, Scott choices.ppt
  5. Yeah, I am fortunate enough to have a 4 and 5 inch 625 (and a spare 5" 625 barrel)... but looking at all you guys shooting 25's at the Nats this year has motivated me to find a 25-2/Model of 1955.
  6. It's got a longer barrel, I didn't measure it but thinking it's the 6 1/2 inch. Thanks again for the feedback, much appreciated. Scott
  7. All, I came across a "Model of 1955" at a local gun shop. It does not appear to be a later 25-2 as there is no model number inside the crane. It has allen/Torx head screws on the side plate, a Hogue mono-grip and the blue worn off in front of the cylinder on both sides of the barrel. It appears to have case hardened hammer and trigger (wide and smooth). I'm thinking that given the wear on the finish (and obvious replacement screws?) it may not be a great deal at 700 bucks. Just looking for some opinions from the more knowledgeable people here. Thanks, Scott
  8. Yeah, that was definitely a poor choice by the game designers... I don't really play the campaign mode much and that didn't help my opinion.
  9. If you like "first-person-shooters" it's pretty darn good. I enjoy playing online (XBox Live) with real people much more than single-player mode. I recently met up with a group of online gamers who call themselves "Geezer Gamers"... you know guys with jobs, kids and mortgages. That has really enhanced my enjoyment. If you get on XBox Live look me up; I use the same handle, "atlscrog". Thanks, Scott
  10. All, Thanks again for all the feedback. I'm going to let this one pass. Scott
  11. This 25-3 is the 125th Commemorative Edition if that makes any difference in the cylinder length. Also, I could go measure the cylinder if someone would provide the specs. And thanks for the replies and advice... I'll most likely pass this deal up. While they didn't give me a firm price, $700 was mentioned. Thanks again, Scott
  12. All, I came across a 25-3 this morning. Curiously, the gun shop tag indicated it was a 45 ACP. Upon inspection, the cylinder does not appear to be cut for moon-clips and web-research leads me to think that the 25-3 is a 45 Colt rather than 45 ACP. Is this correct? Also, I've been looking for a 25-2 for a while I'm curious what the thought is on having this 25-3 fitted with a 45 ACP cylinder? Thanks, Scott
  13. I've Duracoated three weapons and achieved varied results. When applied over a fresh Parkeriize'd finish it seems to hold up well. When applied to bare metal it holds up OK, but not as well as over a new Parkerized finish. Now here's the tricky part for me; the amount of material applied as well as the amount of hardener added all seem to affect the overall finish and the durability. And I've not done it enough to figure out all the variables. Oh yeah, I also heated up the parts prior to spraying to "open the pores" of the metal. I had a local 'smith apply a finish to a hunting rifle (Cera Kote or Gun Kote) and my better Duracoat definitely compares. All that said, I think I'm out of the business of coating firearms as there is just too much to learn to get it 'just right'. I would go for hard-chromed if you can get it for $200. I've got an old nickel S&W hand-ejector that I want to send to APW but every time I get the $$$ together I spend it on something else My 2 cents.
  14. Is this match held at a club north of Atlanta and the match is shot on three bays, with steel on the left-most bay?
  15. After three years of USPSA and being a solid 50% shooter for most of that time I finally read Brian's book. It's important to note that I also switched to Revo in April of this year. Saturday, I shot Production as my moon-clip holder is out for repair. My focus the entire match was to apply the message I got reading Biran's book; shoot each shot. There was no shot before and no shot after, just that shot. I ended up placing 5 out of 13 Production shooters behind a GM, two A's and a B shooter. In the combined scores the only only shooters who beat me that were lower classification (C or D) were shooting Open. It's really hard to describe the feeling that I got shooting... it was almost like being free of worry - just shooting each shot. Anyway, read the book and shoot each shot. It worked for me.
  16. Horrible show... recorded the first few episodes and deleted them after watching two.
  17. All, Looking at add a waterproof bed cover and also considering a spray-in liner... LineX liners are popular around here, seems to be a good product. What do you recommend for cover? I don't need it to lock, just water proof. Thanks!
  18. I'm loading Precision 200 grain RNFP around 1.238... but I am having trouble making major with slow powder (WSF). I am prepping to do a round of testing to include shorter OAL, probably around 1.2
  19. It has been a while since I had the time to work on my basepad issue. Net result, I got more aggressive with radius-ing the follower and de-burred the inside of the mag and sure enough, I got +5 out of a new style Glock G22 mag with a #8 follower and the extended spring that comes in the pack. Thanks again for all the advice, Scott
  20. Looks like the "R" stuff may hold off until later this afternoon. If I were shooting today, I'd keep a push on my squad to be done by 4 or so. Most squads were done before 3:00... we finished on stage one around 2:00pm... a little rain but he rest of the weekend look great! I'm working the match and look forward to seeing everyone there!
