Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hi Doug, Where can I buy a cat tail ike yours? What is a cat tail by the way, hehehehhehee.
  2. Thanks for the emails guys. I agree, practice should the priority. But there is also a saying, " If you cannot play, display!" hehehehehe. Thanks again guys
  3. Dear guys, I have a Swarovski Z6i on my open rifle. I am thinking of getting a secondary optic for variable distances stages. I am thinking of either going Micro Ti or a Docter red dot. I have seen setups with secondary optics mounted on the scope and on the upper reciever. Which do you think is better, Ti or Docter? Scope mounted or reciever mounted? What optics mount should I consider. Thank you
  4. Where can we get the new Benny comp? Is it available yet?
  5. Is there anything we can buy off the shelf? I'm not much of a handyman.
  6. Thanks for the response guys. What buffer should I get for this system?Heavy, standard, light? Will the standard spring be ok? I will be using a Magpul UBR for this. Thank you again.
  7. Dear guys, How does adjustable gas systems work? Ex. JP adjustable gas block with a lightened BCG. Do you use a heavier than milspec buffer or a lighter than milspec buffer? Do you use heavier springs or lighter buffer springs? Do you need to play around with the loads inorder to maximize this system? Do you want more powder/velocity or not. I plan to use a middy 16 inch barrel with a PRI Gen II adjustable gas block and a Young MFg. Lightning BCG. A highly regarded source told me to use a Red JP buffer, unfortunately, I plan on using a Magpul UBR stock for this build. I know that full length buttstocks are more popular in game guns but for some reason I just prefer the UBR. So, I cannot use the red JP buffer as they are designed for fixed A1 or A2 buttstocks only. Rifle will be used for 3 gun matches and rifle comps. Please give me your comments on how to tweak this system to get the best performance overall. Also, suggestions on which buffer I should use, what spring, loads will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  8. Here it is.AR15_Compensators.pdf I have a 2nd article in the works that will include the F2 the Nordic and the MacArther brakes. Patrick Hi Patrick, When is the article coming out?
  9. I heard somewhere that the MSTN Quiet comp is better than the SJC or the RT. Can anybody confirm this?
  10. Thank you very much for all your help sirs.
  11. Hey guys, I found this in another forum. Please comment. "The Swarovski illuminated dot is not as bright as an Aimpoint. Aimpoint sights are primarily day optics or combat optics. Swarovski could make their dot that bright but it would be counter productive in a low light hunting scope because the reticle would cause your pupil to constrict, allowing less light from the scope itself to enter your eye. So you would be able to see the dot bright and clear but not the target. Illuminated reticles for low light hunting need to be just bright enough to see the point"
  12. Hello again 00Bullitt, What can you say about the F2 compensator? How does it compare/rank to the SJC and the Rolling Thunder? Rolling Thunder and SJC why do you say that the SJC is better? Thanks
  13. Dear 00Bullitt, Thank you very much for all your comments. I am now leaning towards the Z6 because of you. If I get this Z6 ( http://www.swfa.com/pc-12650-1412-swarovsk...iflescope.aspx) with the Illuminated 4 reticle, is the red dot in the middle visible in bright sunshine? Should I get the standard one or the one with extended eye relief? How do you manipulate the elevation knobs? Can this be done with your fingers? Or do you need a coin or screw driver to turn this? Again, thank you very much.
  14. Thank you all for answers and information. I have now narrowed down my choices to the 9767 SB Zenith Short Dot with the #7 reticle ( if it comes with clickable turrets), Swarovski Z6 with an illuminated 4 reticle and the Zeiss 1.1 - 4 Diavari with the illuminated 0 reticle. I think I will go with a second focal plane reticle this time. I just have a few questions more. 1. Are all the red dots in these scopes visible in bright daylight like the Aimpoint? 2. Zeiss and Swarovski except the Short Dot have target knobs. So holdovers are needed? No clicakable turrets for elevation? 3. Is the Zenith Short Dot elevation knob clickable for different ranges or is it also target knobs? Does it come with locking turrets? 4. At lowest power, can they all be used like the aimpoint? How is the up/down, left/right forgiveness 5. I was looking at the FOV of the 3 scopes at SWFA, the info I got was that the Zeiss had a FOV of 108 - 30.75 inches, the swarovski had 127.5 - 20.4 inches while the Schmidt and Bender Short dot had only 36 - 9.2 inches . This is the Short Dot I was looking at http://www.swfa.com/pc-9240-284-schmidt-be...riflescope.aspx. Did they get it wrong? If so, the Short Dot that I want has a smaller FOV than the Millet 90 - 23 inches ? Seems wrong. Any chance of having a Zenith Short Dot with a CQB reticle anytime soon? Again, thank you very much for your help.
