  1. NO, not legal for anything but OPEN! Now some matches you could (High Plains Shotgun but in Tactical class only) but I would guess 95% at least will not allow it. Busyhawk
  2. BC is on the money here...No penalty is need since the shooter did shoot it with the correct weapon. The self given waste of time should be penalty enough. Let the match rules dictate what appropriate penalty as all shooters should know them anyhow. Amend the rules if this is not clear. Good question... Busyhawk
  3. I have been asked about this from shooters...I don't come up with this stuff on my own...I am not a smart man! Yes, many can attest to this! Busyhawk
  4. Wow, Thank you all for some great input! I thought of most of the comments already but there is some other information that I didn't consider. Please keep it coming if you have some constructive criticism/ideas. BBD and Benelli Chick, love the idea of making the decision right after the end of the course of fire but before time is given...saves time and it is the shooters decision and not possibly a group decision. Morgan P, Every shooter has the option to get a mulligan...the cost of $15 is "NOT" cost prohibitive but decision unfriendly . The match is Time Plus and yes we could do Stage Wins but chose not to...that is just a shooters bragging rights thing for this match. Kneelingatlas, Everyone in the squad will be able to use their mulligan as only 2 can be used on a stage of any one squad...Yes, there is a possibility that everyone wants/waits till the last stage to try to use them...that will not work. Outerlimits...If you want more fun you can use my gear...I will even load it for you! Trust me Springy...Let me just name a few Championships that have more than one chance to win...The NBA, Major League Baseball World Series, The Tour de France, World Cup Soccer....just a few. Of course we are having each shooter do the same and he has 9 stages to get to the end so I understand your statement and I believe what you are saying...good points. Dan S...Yes, the first run is never recorded...like it never happened so the mulligan run is the only one that would count. Thank you to all that commented... Sincerely, Busyhawk
  5. A mulligan, in a game, happens when a player gets a second chance to perform a certain move or action. The practice is also sometimes referred to as a "do-over." We are wondering if during the 2013 Colt and Colt Competition Northwest Multigun Challenge is this would be a good idea. Our thought process is during signing into the match any shooter can pay ~$15.00 and be issued a mulligan ticket to be used anytime during the match, one only can be purchased! Only two mulligans can be used per squad per stage or the time line will crumble. That in itself might get shooters to volunteer to shoot toward the front of the squad:) So, after the shooter is finished with the stage but before he signs the score sheet (Ipad in our case with Practiscore) he must tell the scorekeeper that he wishes to use his mulligan and present his ticket! He will be shuffled to the bottom of the squad pile and have his mulligan. In saying all of this, is this a good thing or not and why? What say you? Sincerely, Busyhawk Prize Table Coordinator 2013 Colt and Colt Competition Northwest Multigun Challenge Co-Match Director and Range Master PS; Extra monies will go to a Junior Program to be announced
  6. Doug is busy trying to put these stages on the Etrons...I am too old school for that, I can make the stages with crayon or coal/lead pencil but it's hard to put on the web site (isn't a web for spiders?). Know where you are hitting at say 350 yards...we have a paper target out there and you really need to call your own shots, Bullseye Camera Systems http://www.bullseyecamera.com/ is providing a system so we can score from the start line...should prove interesting. This target must have 2 hits on it instead of one A or B hit. No steel report so the shooter must be either confidant or lucky? I believe it is just evil... Busyhawk
  7. Hello All, I'm starting to work on Squading so if you have not given me your preferred squad buddies prior to this, feel free to email me with your preferences to NWMultigun@aol.com. Squads will shoot AM-PM-AM or PM-AM-PM, 3 stages each day, if you have a preference on this let me know and I will try to accommodate you if possible. We already have some other special request and we will do our best to accommodate those request too. This will leave you with plenty of time to party with your friends in beautiful Bend. Since shooters are only on the range half a day we will not be providing any food at the range. Only the ROs will be out on the range all day and will have lunches provided. After the shooting stops on Saturday afternoon we have a catered Bar-B-Q chicken dinner set up by a local company so that you can have a nice meal before the Awards. Food should be ready to eat by 6 PM so come hungry. We will provide water, other beverages are up to you. The prize table is starting to look pretty good and Scott tells me there are already about 26 guns being provided by the Main Match Sponsors, Colt and Colt Competition. That means over 10% of the shooters will be taking home a gun! Lots of other companies have stepped up this year and we will have them all on the website by the end of this week. Please make sure to tell them that you saw them at the Northwest Multigun Challenge and always give companies that support 3 gun your first shot at a purchase. Since we went to a 3 half day schedule and opened up 75 more slots than last year, we still have some space available in the match so tell your friends that we are accepting late entries. Feel free to call Scott or myself if you have questions. If it is a question that all could benefit from, please write it here on the Forum and we will answer for all to see! Doug 206-235-1168 Scott 360-229-0574 RLTW, Busyhawk

I am not counting shooters shooting my no shoot targets and missing!!! As you see I have included all 3 guns on each stage so you better be happy!!!! Shooting clays with the rifle because Doug wants to...no, not flying either... R and R Targets http://randrtargets.com/site/ is supplying the Death Star to two stages this year as a way to just frustrate the hell out of us. One is with the Shotgun and one with the Pistol, and combined with 1 no shoot target. That is it for now... Busyhawk
  9. Just some more information to add to the pile, You really only need one sling, you will only be required to use one sling on any COF. Sponsors: The list just keeps growing and here are some more; Seekins Precision http://www.seekinsprecision.com/ is a Silver Sponsor! Someone out there is going to be very happy! Repcon NW http://www.repconnw.com/ is back again this year in a big way as a Bronze Sponsor. Some of the best 3 gun clothes out there! Sierra Bullets http://www.sierrabullets.com/ is again in as a Bronze Sponsor...Who couldn't use a $250 cert from those guys? PWS http://primaryweapons.com/store/pc/viewContent.asp?idpage=17 is also in as a Bronze Sponsor! Thank you for your support! Nordic Components http://nordiccomp.com/retail/ is also at the Bronze Sponsorship level has almost anything Shotgun related and then some...Please check them out. JP Enterprises http://www.jprifles.com/ is again helping our sport grow and is dedicated to helping the prize table grow, thank you John! That is all for today....Stages should be posted within the next week! We have the stages roughed in but want to do some tweaking like adding a NS to the death star:) Why would someone suggest that? See you on the range, Busyhawk
  10. Bigger news! We are excited to announce Colt Manufacturing (http://www.coltsmfg.com/ ) and Colt Competition ( http://www.coltcompetitionrifle.com/Home.aspx ) are Co-Match Sponsors this year. Thank you to Leupold Tactical and Warne Scope Mounts as they Co-Match Sponsored last year. Both Colt Manufacturing and Colt Competition have stepped up in a big way...We are very proud to have these companies trust us with representing their great companies and we will not let them down. Shooters, please remember their support of our sport when you are looking for your next firearm purchase. Not to step aside, Leupold Scopes ( http://www.leupold.com/ ) is a Platinum Sponsor this year. You will not find a more dedicated company that stands behind their products like Leupold! All I am asking is try them out and test them, they deliver and stand behind their products 100%. I will list more in the next couple of days...stayed tuned. Sincerely, Busyhawk
  11. OK, I know this is slow in coming but what a PITA it has been this year. The stages are coming along great, as requested, all stages will consist of all 3 guns! Hey, the customers are always right...right? Anyhow, to save some time and help things along, please bring slings for both the shotgun and rifle! Open shooters, our match will have places to use BIPODS!!!! We will not be using the incline walls like almost all other matches use. Yes, we are bringing back a car stage, shooting a pistol out of! Because of the dust we decided not to shoot under the car:) No DQ if you shoot slugs on close steel, we have made the decision that it is not a safety issue but you will be assessed a procedural penalty and a $25 fine to help with replacement of targets. We have a new target this year...I call it the Double Death Star and Robert of R and R Targets calls it the "Double Star" and you can see it here... and this video we asked him to shoot it slow! We have 2 of these...one with the shotgun and one with a pistol on seperate stages. That is all for now...within the next 2 weeks we will be posting the real ammo requirement and stages. Keep in touch and stay thirsty my friends... Shoot fast, shoot accurate but most of all....shoot!
  12. My suggestion is to contact/call Beven Gram at http://www.gramsengineering.com and get his opinion on the problem. He is a wealth of information and I bet he will have an answer for you...and afterwards please post what you find out! Sincerely, Busyhawk
  13. When ordering from Blade-Tech just order the less expensive injected molded AR-15 mag pouch; AR 15/ M16 Pouches These pouches are injection molded . Made with adjustable tension screws for security so those cumbersom flaps are not needed. These pouches are ambidextrous, will work with bullets forward or bullets to the rear. The tension screws will be forward for Left handed users. Available in 3 different colors. Will work with most of our belt attachments Just try these...no guess work and you can change your mind anytime you want:) Hope this helps, Sincerely, Busyhawk
  14. While it is true that stage/prop guns can cause problems you need to see why MDs use stage/prop guns in the first place. There are a list of reasons but the most popular are: 1. Sponsors want all attendees to shoot and get a wanting for their product. 2. MD thinks it is cool that shooters that are not rolling in $ and are not in the Military or LE world get to fire a weapons system that most civilians don't get to. 3. Just to add a complexity to the stage...get the shooter thinking of yet something else. Now that we know why there are stage guns, now the MD/RM needs to set the guns up for success! As mentioned above, as a minimum start the stage with the stage gun so if there is a problem you can reset the stage quickly and get on with the re-shoot, as mentioned above. Just like uncommon props you should have redundant systems/guns and ammo just in case there are problems. If possible let each shooter enjoy the stage gun by not having it on the clock. Side shoots like what happened at the FNH match this year is yet another great way for shooters to enjoy shooting a sponsors guns and get almost everything a sponsor wishes to get accomplished. I like side matches like this better just because if my gun goes down during the stage I have no one but me to blame and cuss. If a sponsors gun goes down I get very frustrated and even though I might get a re-shoot, I am still a little pissed off and don't believe I am in control of what happens. We (Northwest Muli-Gun Challenge) had one stage/Prop gun sponsored by RBros Rifles http://www.rbrosrifles.com and for the whole match one of the sponsors were there on stage 1 to call winds and make sure all shooters had every chance to hit the 1 target with 2 possible shoots, and not on the clock. Leupold Tactical http://www.leupold.com/tactical/ supplied the scope and we made the target very (99%) doable. We really wanted success for all our shooters and to help promote our sponsors! One of the main reasons sponsors come aboard is for advertising and that is what we strive to do. Stage guns can be fun like at Fallen Brotheren this year with all the Remington rifles and shotguns and ammo but the lesson here is: 1. Start the stage with the stage gun 2. Rehearse with the stage gun and try to make it idiot proof (I know, they just make better idiots) 3. Don't have it on the clock 4. Have redundant systems to remedy problems 5. If possible have the sponsor there for both the sales pitch and to brief all shooters on the stage guns Great topic...Thanks, Sincerely, Busyhawk
  15. OK, I see 3GN Nation targets as a supplemental target just as we use different size targets made of steel. We (NW Multigun Challenge) use full size USPSA paper targets as Pistol, the small CM IPSC paper targets for rifle and the 3GN targets for slugs only...makes it less confusing for shooters to ID what weapon for what target. Just a thought... I too like the human targets but not really wrapped up into making a statement of either PC or not. Just like I don't like singers that sing just to make a statement...I might like some of their songs but I will not buy their CDs. If you don't like 3GN targets you can boycott matches that use them or just suck it up butter cup! Respectively, Busyhawk
  16. OK, just my .02...I have never seen or heard of any firearm at any 3 gun or pistol match after it has been abandoned where it shot by itself! Now for liability reasons, I want the shooter to apply all the safeties or empty it...yes, I am old and that is just how I like it. No, it is not my responsibility to ensure the firearms the shooters are using are in operative condition/s. As stated in other postings above, if you don't want to apply a browning type safety then either empty the pistol, get a safe action pistol or don't go to a match...shooters choice right? Now on the flip side of this is just this...I expect the RM or whomever is the one responsible for the stages to inspect the abandon barrel/bucket/table so when firearms are abandoned that no one is walking in front of a loaded gun. With the proper abandon barrel/bucket/table I really don't care if the firearms is on safe or not to tell the truth...again, read the first paragraph above. If the abandon barrel/bucket/table is good (no one is put in danger) and if the safety is required but not applied then give a shooter a 30 second penalty and get on with it...silly to DQ for a perceived safety issue. I am very comfortable with walking in front of a loaded firearm...I have problems when humans are around and we all know things happen! Case in point: While ROing the Fallen Brotheren match this year...the shooter abandoned her 2011 style of pistol in/on a platform, when we as ROs walked by it we checked to insure it was in a safe condition before we walked in front of the muzzle. Well, we checked and proceeded down range and upon returning up-range I discovered someone handled the still loaded pistol and placed the shooters discarded magazine under the pistol and now the thumb safety was no longer engaged!!!! Needless to say I had a come to GOD discussion with the whole squad and then tried to relax:( Oh, and I carry a 3 million dollar insurance policy just in case of Murphy is around. I really don't think asking the shooters to apply all safety's is asking to much...I don't see any top shooters weighing in here trying to save time either. Respectfully, Busyhawk
  17. Ok, then the real answer is don't shoot HM if you want the points! 3GN required at least 10 shooters for our match (Northwest Multi-Gun Challenge) to receive points this year...just the facts! Again, if you want the points for the money, then pull up your panties and shoot Scoped Tactical or just shoot for fun and awards or prizes. I shoot the Nats to get the plaque or trophy for National Champion, or in my case class/Division award. Shooting for points which relates to $ is not my drive. Of course this is just my opinion and not those expressed for or by BE:) Busyhawk
  18. I really don't care if USPSA Multi-gun Nats is a 3GN points match or not! I just love to shoot a good match as I shoot 3 gun for the fun of it...and the 2012 USPSA Multi-gun was one of the best matches this year!!!! Thank you Pete for some great stages this year and i cant wait for next year! For those of you that just shoot for $...please find either another sport to make money at or go to Vegas and make some bet on the horses. As for divisions and the 3GN Series, run Pro as Pro (you pay to play) in Tactical Scope only. Semi Pro for a separate pot of awards and not connected for Pro monies and any division must have at least 25 in that division to count for 3GN points. I really don't see the death of a division this way...us lower shooters will still have fun in the process!!! I will always support 3GN just like I support USPSA, National Rifle Assn and any other venue the helps support safe and responsible shooting. Let's go shooting. Busyhawk
  19. Great match...still relaxing and trying to stay awake until about 1800 tonight...I really am trying to get back to the regular schedule. Very technical match, small targets and low light conditions made for a lot of mistakes. My Glock puked about 0330 this morning... Not sure if it was the cold on the plastic or if I should have used lighter lube. Our squad started with 14, 2 DQed with unsafe gun handling on the first stage, 3 more quit outright. You really wanted to do this! Had lots of fun, the prize table was a great plus. Jeff did an outstanding job and should take a bow. Of course the ROs did amgreat job! All Zombies were killed but it is sad so many inocents had to be sacrificed. Zzzzzzzzzzz
  20. Crickets...I haven't heard a peep from Ken in months.
  21. Since I am a new shooter to this zombie stuff, is there a way to look at the stages the day or night before or are these blind stages? Right now I am just a scared human but want to kill and get in on the action:). After watching last nights debate i am really scared...there might be a zombie in the White House now! Is there any limit on the length of blade for my sword...I mean knife that I carry?...I might be looking for a Sherpa to carry all the ammo. Zombie Killer wannabe, Busyhawk
  22. Well, all stages torn down and trucks and trailers loaded. Just in time to lick wounds and pay bills here before I head out tomorrow. Need to head to Texas for the Walking Dead Match. I can't thank Andy and Tammy enough for their hard work. Rock Castle is a good chunk of ground and the staff is very accommodating to help. See you guys next year, Busyhawk
  23. Well it is over and wow what a match. Of course tough stages, fall colors, awesome weather for the most part (being from Washington state this time of year knows only rain), great shooters and good friends. Today is dedicated to clean up and tear down, for once in the last week and a half we can take our time and relax. Thank God tear down is not mind taxing and at an easy pace and more help it can almost be fun (key word here is "Almost"). The sponsors really contributed and the prize table showed it! As soon as I return from this road trip on the 5th of November I need to thank them for their generous support for sure! Congratulations to Andy for a well ran match! Thank you to TK and Chris on Stage 2 for all the support and help running all the shooters through. A big thank you to the shooters for doing what needed to get done and resetting and being ready without to much coaching:). ROing is not that much fun but is rewarding and since 98% is slave labor (isn't that illegal now?) it really helps the match run on time and work shared is just easier. Busyhawk
