  1. Tri topping the slide would give you a lower sight position, but you can also put an SV rear sight which sits lower than "Bomar" style rear sights. Magwell width is not the problem, the problem is that if you go for a 5.4 barrel/slide, you will have to trim the back as well as the beavertail and the mainspring housing. Check out Infinity's website , you will have some pictures of 5.4 pistols.
  2. Eric switched to Production for the big matches also. He shot all the big matches in Europe this year in production. From what I know, it's both a personal and commercial decision for him to shot PD. Tanfoglio want to regain market share, and Eric having won 5 world titles in open, was seeking a new challenge. I know that he a very dedicated guy to the sport, and very serious about his preparation, so if he decided to give it a try to PD, he will seriously kick some butts ! I'm glad he didn't choose Standard :-)
  3. Mine : The picture comes directly from the Infinity Website. The gun is a carbon steel 1911 in 40sw. It features the new Infinity magwell, VZ grips, bushing barrel.
  4. Just go for the Infinity mags, you can't go wrong with them.
  5. As for lefties, check out the official facebook page of Infinity firearms. One of the members, a lefty got one modified by Brandon Strayer to fit his gun. It was an open gun, but i'm sure a skilled gunsmith can make it work for a limited gun. My link
  6. Well, Trace, How can I say this ..... We made a poll, and It was decided that you had enough Infinity pistols. It was voted that you should not have any pistols built in , hummmmm let's say, less than 10 years, so that other shooters will have their guns faster
  7. Starting my new collection.... .40sw Single Stack (Called Classic Division in IPSC). Two 5.4 Standard Division .40sw guns with bushing barrels.
  8. I had the WARNE mount in mind because of the ability to put a small red dot on the side of it. I must figure if it would conflict with a switchview lever.
  9. I'm shooting under IPSC rules, so an optic will put me in open anyway. My plan was to put the fast fire on a mount on the handguard for close range stuff.
  10. I have STI mags running without any problem in 5 different Signature grips. It seems that the oldest mags were closer to the specs than the news.
  11. Thanks for all the feedback guys. I might give it a try. There is a combo featuring the scope, the small red dot fast fire and the mount for a fair price. I'm still wondering if I go to the scope only option on the rifle, or if I get the scope and an additional sight.
  12. Hi all, I'm thinking more and more about starting shooting Rifles in competition. In the chase for an optic, I found the Burris MTAC line of scopes. it's a 1-4 x 24 with illuminated reticle. Anyone knows this scope and have first hand experience ? Thanks in advance.
  13. I heard from a STI Team shooter that they would discontinue the aluminium grips. They are tired of replacing free of charge all the grips that cracks. FWIW....
  14. The pistols can be ordered with any kind of barrels. Bushing, bull or sight tracker. If I remember correctly, the slides are internally lightened.
  15. Like SV-Cop said. STI or SV mags works without problem.
  16. I've shot some of the 5.4 Brandon Strayer brought to Germany last year. Both ran like a sewing machine (hey, what did you expect ? ;-) )and feel very soft. We shot them with two different loads, both making major for IPSC and both pistols proved to be very controlable at high speed. Current Standard world Champion was there also and shot a couple of mags out of it, and now I see on the forum that he's getting a 5.4 built ! Infinity 5.4 Picture gallery In the gallery, you'll see the two pistols we tried. But keep one thing in mind : Infinity pistols are built to YOUR specs, so the options available for these pistols are too long to be listed here. They are just two examples of the magic that happens in the factory.
  17. Thanks for the kind words Trace. I can't wait to watch my sights on my 5.4s to compare
  18. Dielhi : These are MY observations based on shooting side by side two different set up. One was a Sight Tracker with a 12.5lbs recoil spring, and the other was a slide mounted SV with also a 12.5lbs recoil springs.
  19. Not necesarily. Grip, stance, load, springs can change your perception of recoil and muzzle rise. We would need to evaluate two similar set up to have the answer with one specific load.
  20. Well, technically, a Sight Tracker front sights recoils higher than a slide mounted sight. If you guys think about how a slide cycles, you'll notice that the slide is moving to the rear. The sight being mounted on it, it also moves to the rear and then it reduces the angle of flip as it moves toward your hand. The front sight being stationary on the Sight tracker, it moves up with the muzzle of your gun. I've rarely seen shooters being able to have a perfectly flat recoiling pistol in limited/standard. Almost all of them have some kind of muzzle rise. What I have experienced and can certify is that IF you pay attention to your FS during recoil, you will see it better in a Sight Tracker configuration because it moves in only one direction, up. On a regular configuration, it moves up and rearward. But you need to be really aware of your shooting if you want to notice that. I had to shoot more than 10 000 rounds before I actually realized that i was tracking my front sight better with the ST. But the concept of the ST works, and it works great.
