  1. Thanks Sarge! I kept getting a #383 not a #83. And that matched the Glock 20,21, etc. Holsters.com has a slurry of S&W models, but no M&P that I saw. This helps me a lot. Thanks again.
  2. Hey Duane!!! I took two CMC single stack mags in stainless. One was just like it came from the vendor, the other lightly polished. I used the same white sand, the same air pressure, and got these results. The slight side angle showed the numbers best. From directly behind them the numbers are visible, but subdued. My mags are already numbered on the mag pad, but in the future I'm gonna do it this way. As I get motivated I'll experiment with pressure and the media used. What I want to stay with is the inexpensive Badger blaster. Hope that answers your question. And thanks again for the idea. This will be my new method as it does work.
  3. I'm hoping someone can provide the actual product number for the Safariland mag pouches; either the 773 or the 771 pouches to fit a 9L. I went to Safariland's site and saw that some Glocks take the same numbers as some S&Ws do, but I did not find the actual number as pertains to the 9L. Infact, I did not see the 9L listed. I am looking for tactical black, right handed for a 1.5" belt. I did a search here and the various venders but only found the comment of "M&Ps use Glock pouches". I'd feel more comfortable knowing the actual product # to order. Thank you for your help.
  4. STI Sentinel (old model Sentry?). 22,000 rds through it and never a malfunction. It's 2 yrs old now and I recently freshened it up with hammer, sear, Briley bushing, etc. I refuse to get it re-finished. Still very, very accurate. It eats any .40 I've loaded it with to include lead, long, short, hollow points, etc. This was right out of the box from S.C. The extra money spent on the initial purchase (over a Trojan)has been well worth it. I recently had a custom SS built and thought about selling this one. Then I snap myself out of it. My way of saying, get the Sentry.
  5. I'm thinking that the grit or media used would play a part in the end result. And probably the air pressure. Also, if the stainless had been polished the subsequent blasting would leave a "frosted" appearance I think. I just finished a flower vase for the wife on a smooth clear glass vase. The end result was the frosted look to the design that contrasted nicely to the smooth finish. I'll see if this little blaster and the fine media can work with stainless, both polished and not. Thanks for the idea!
  6. Time will tell Duane. I was not concerned about it as I oil and clean a lot. The lower back of the mag seemed out of harm's way, so to speak. If it proves to be a problem I'll use the airbrush gun and color them with some color of bake on finish.
  7. I think if the stainless was polished the contrast with the sand blasted numbers would be nice. I have applied Brownell's GunKote to stainless mags then baked them in the oven. That worked real well.
  8. I have a small Badger brand sand blaster used for etching glass. I went to a craft store and bought some etching sand and some small plastic stencils. I taped the stencil numbers to the back of the magazines and gave them a blast of the sand. This is the result.
  9. http://www.jimjoycecustom.com/default.html He's got some photos on his web site. Best mag wells I've ever seen and used. Best of luck to you! Paul
  10. The three I ordered came in 3 days. Couldn't be more pleased with Botach.
  11. Oh heck, here I go again. Thanks!!!
  12. Previous thread: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=94385&st=0&p=1085512&hl=botac&fromsearch=1entry1085512 But thanks for the reminder anyway. A bunch of us have gotten them without worries, despite Botac's... unsavory... reputation. You should be fine. Yep, I read that thread. Helped me decide to give them a try. Maybe the horror stories are in the past. Can't beat the price.
  13. Just ordered three at $19.95 each. Couple hours later they send e-mail saying they have been shipped.
  14. You might yell at Jim Joyce. He definately has experience with Para, both as Open and Limited guns and still makes some parts for them. I know he still has a Para Limited he keeps in his bag as a back up when he shoots Limited Division. His son-in-law shoots a Para Limited and a Para Open gun as well. I could be wrong but I think he just built a Caspian for someone. Paul B.
  15. 2 yrs ago bought the STI Sentinel in .40 S&W. Last year added a new hammer, sear, briley bushing, etc and just now added a custom mag well. 25,000 rds later it has been the best bargain I've ever had. Feeds anything, is extremely accurate, and never breaks down. I've also run with CMC mags exclusively but have tried Trip, Wilson, and Maidenform (joking). It runs with anything.
  16. Can't go wrong with the S&A, the Tech Well, SVI, Dawson, etc, etc. Find one that fits you. I like the CMC 10mm mags for my .40 and they run 100% in my two single stacks. I have had all the mag wells I listed but settled on this one. It fits the box, works with my mags, and feels best with my hands. What magwell is that in the photo? Chris JimJoyceCustom.com W.Va gunsmith/machinest. He has photos on his web site.

  18. Rodbender is talking about me. I started with a new bald STI slide and STI forged frame, both oversized. There is a systematic progression to the build that we followed. If you PM me I can go into details. I only used quailty parts and ended up with a tack driving machine, to say the least. I will be making my decision on the final finish to apply in the next month or so. I did spray and bake a couple of small parts with GunKote just to see how it holds up, but they will be done over when the gun is finished. For now it's in the "white" and I'm playing with loads... Go slow and enjoy it. It was my first custom build made better by my personal "hands on" participation. I made mistakes, but learned so very much too.
  19. I've seen people do this in picture, and am tempted to do it myself, except I noticed that there are little tabs behind the grip panels that cover the trigger bow, etc. does leaving them exposed have any adverse affects? It would seem an open door for grit to get into the trigger channel. Is this just a non issue? I'd love to shed the grip panels and just have grip tape. <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Guncraft manufactures a narrow "filler" strip that covers the tab/void left without the grip panels and just fits in the little angle at the back of the butt or at least they used to. I had the Guncraft parts installed to be on the safe side, but that was years ago and I don't know it they still make the part. I've had no issues with the trigger or internals over the years. I've since changed to AGrip to cover the grip area rather than step or skateboard tape. I've found it is more flexible and gives me a better feel. <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Interesting, have any pictures to share with the AGrip? I like the idea of slimming the grip. Like this one? JimJoycecustom.com has them.
  20. Saw the 2D version on the big screen as the wife and I figured we'd get dizzy watching in 3D. Simply the most awesome movie we've ever seen. Not because of the plot, but because of the attention to detail and the weirdness of the planet itself. From the floating mountains to the plants and animals, it was spectacular. Gonna go back and try the 3D next time.
  21. Yep. They used to sell a flat botton one made at BoMar. I'll have to see when it gets here if it's feasable to make the entire sight cut on the 9L the same depth as the bottom of the dovetail and run it all the way back. Maybe not, but that is o.k. The Dawson one is pretty nice and I do want adjustable. I was just thinking out loud, so to speak.
  22. After seeing a few pins and elevation screws break (one was mine) and completely kill a shooter's stage/match I'm looking at an alternative for all my guns with BoMars. I think the new Trip may be the way of the future. I agree with you on this. I replaced both my STI rears with Ken sights (Champion). So far so good. The new Trip does look good though.
  23. The spring for the striker block is held in place by the rear sight. I'm not sure you could make the cuts necessary for the bomar and still keep that functioning properly. (IMHO, it's a crappy design. At least I think so every time I try and install a new rear sight.) I think that will be your biggest obstacle. You could probably find a way to work around it, but it might not be production legal at that point. I'm not talking about removing the safety, but modifying the way the spring is installed, because the rear sight will be lower. Welcome to the world of M&P. Now you can beat me in production as well as SS. That was my concern, the striker block thingy, but was hoping someone had gotten around it. I do want to be compliant with USPSA rules though. Was just wondering if it could be an option for a rear sight. Nah, not Production. I'm gonna stick to SS for now. Got a super good deal through Bud's Police Supply and had to get a 9L. And, the way you have been shooting, you are safe from this old fart. Plus, I've got this friend in W.Va who is already itching to get his hands on it so it'll most likely go there for a while and get a massage.
