Great match guys. Thanks to everyone who set it up and worked it, Y'all made it a very enjoyable experience. Thanks to Squad 1, it was a pleasure to shoot with y'all.

Sorry it took so long to respond back. My loads OAL are 1.175 with a Montana Gold 124 jhp. New mag springs could very well help.
-
I'll try to remember to get you a dimension tonight. I use the old style mags.
-
Hmmm... I thought you guys got all that rain out of your system earlier this year... sounds like I need to attach buoys to my mags so when I drop them I don't lose them.

Welcome back.

At 14.5" I think you'd have a hard time making anything longer than midlength work. (even that would likely be under gased).
-
I gotta ask why?
having said that if I had to do it, I think I'd tap the existing gas port for a short grub screw. Then I'd install it with permanent locktite. following that I'd probably turn a small collar on my lathe to slide over the barrel to cover the plug and lock it down ( maybe use a set screw on the bottom of the collar to secure it). You could probably use a small low profile gas block as a collar if you wanted.
I think adco does something like this and maybe puts a tack weld on the plug to keep it from backing out? You could email them and ask...
My other question would be is the diameter where you were planning on putting the new gas port large enough for a standard gasblock? (I suppose if it wasn't you could turn it down to the next smallest size, or make a custom gas block)?

detail strip once a year before the season starts. Before any match I swab the feed ramp, the breach face, and the chamber and add more oil if it needs it. Every 4 to 5 k rounds or before the club match prior to the next large match I field strip, clean and then re-oil.
lots of opinions on this but if your routine yields a working reliable gun... it's all good.

I enjoyed it. The plot was nothing spectacular but I thought the main twist was clever. As was said above it was visually stunning. Worthwhile to see In IMAX.
They had 2 big twists. They stupidly gave one away in the trailer. The other one they saved for the actual movie.
Agreed... I'd have enjoyed it more if they hadn't given Morgan Freeman away in the trailer...

wow...I saw that in a James Bond movie once and thought it was just a prop... who knew it was real.

yep I think many of us would like sp2 if we could still get it.

take the slide off the gun, remove the barrel. Try to slide a case up the breach face under the extractor, if you don't feel some tension and the case won't stay in place you likely need more tension. As said above make sure the hook of the extractor is in good shape and not damaged. If you check the Brazos Custom website Bob has copies of some good articles he did for Front Sight on extractor and ejector tuning.

Maybe do a couple of those on each side instead of front cocking serrations?

If you are willing to use ball powder I don't think you'll have issues with it (unless you are loading benchrest ammo in which case i'd look somewhere else). I have never had good luck with stick powder in my 650. However, there are several threads on here about how to tune the Dillon powder measure to perform better with stick powder that a search ought to turn up. Give that a try... if it doesn't get you sufficient precision for your needs you can always do as rrflyer suggested above and use a chargemaster for the powder. Look at Tom's entry in the thread below.

What I hate... Realizing that my CRO certification expired more than 6 months ago. I don't log into the USPSA webpage very often and just didn't notice. Apparently that means I now have to take the 50 question test and submit a stage to recertify (if I read the requirements correctly). No hate on USPSA those are apppatently the rules.
What I hate more... not being sure at this point if I'll bother.
-
Just leaving the range after checking out the stages.
Good stages and good weather... looking forward to tomorrow.
-
hmm that sounds kinda like an adjustable parallel?
-
Welcome to the forums... You are fortunate to be so close to a good club.

Maybe should consider using .40 brass instead to avoid leaving so much room in the case. I have shot several k rounds out of mine using .40 brass.
-
I'll take it.

Bullets hit the doorstep this evening.

I always wondered if you could dovetail the top of a bull barrel for a sight, then make a u shaped slot in the front of the slide for clearance. You would have to use a really tall sight to make it work but seems like it ought to be simple. Only concern would be if there wasn't enough meat in the top of the barrel to make a strong enough joint.
