  1. use the rainier but they may have problem. Try a little more crimp the specs Josh said. when you chamber check with the barrel you just make sure it drops and doesn't rub. if you had half that worked and half didnt. see what the difference is. leo and get the 10lb springs.
  2. load some rounds. Pull the barrel case check them with the barrel and see how it feels. I talked with Henning and the gun should be fine. It sounds like your loads are the problem.
  3. Tanfoglios run a tight chamber typically on their "Elite" models (not sure about others). Insufficient crimp could leave a flare that drags the chamber wall not leading to a full chambered round. When the hammer drops that miniscule amount could mean the hammer doesn't hit the firing pin with sufficient force as it will hit the FP retainer early. This my take on it though and I could be wrong I run 1.245 and sometimes shorter with round nose Zeros and have yet to have a problem. Josh is right on with what he figures crimp at. I am not sure how much Longer you can get without running into problems. Henning is working on aluminum grips today so he wont be around till late tonite and he will be able to help a little more. this is off rainier site about velocity's. Q3. Do your bullets have ANY velocity restrictions? A. In general, our bullets typically perform their best when shot at velocities no greater than 1,200 to 1,250 Feet per second (FPS). I have yet to try the Montana gold 121's yet you might try those or for sure zero's Leo BTW: my 40 limited is forgiving on chamber, but my gold team can have problems with not enough crimp, and i know this from personal experience.
  4. So this means we can blame Henning. Thats always been my backup plan. leo
  5. The slide racker come on the right side for the factory and if you noticed there is a little hole drilled into the slide for the set screw to lock into. Switching to the left side does leave it a little close to the hand, I have gotten into the habit of just not using the racker, on my gold team or my SVI. If its not locking back to slide lock on a empty magazine I have to assume someone modified the lock, I am surprised it just doesn't have the pin it only that Henning sells I prefer that anyways and never go to slide lock. It sounds like you are getting light strikes because you do not have enough crimp and not hitting battery fully, you might want to check that, it might have tight tolerances. You can also check if you have Hennings long pin or the EGW. I have used both without a problem at the moment I use Hennings with Federal Small Rifle. Trust me when you knock it up to around 7.4 of 7625 you will love it, its a nice flat shooter with more then enough comp action. I have tried some N350 and 3N37 and I prefer the 7625. Remember you cant compare this guns to a lot of other open guns with bigger barrel ports because I have found it to be a little less brutal for sure inside compared to some of the guys I shoot with who use Tribrids and Have comps with side porting on them. Henning Likes to open his comp up a little more and maybe we can talk him into showing some pictures and measurements if we can get him out of the machine shop. I would also dump the rainier and get some Montana's or some Zero's, never had much luck with the rainier at these velocity's. If you aren't picking rounds off off the magazine sounds like its not seated right, because a 16lb recoil spring in that gun is a beast, I run a 10lb with no problem. It could be a follower problem? does it have the grams kit in it? Leo
  6. That price is pretty low. but I don't think there are any to order is the problem. They have always been a spotty thing, EAA gets a shipment once a month. Leo
  7. Usually I just throw out all the springs that come with it and replace them with Wolf. You will love it, its a great gun... get some parts from Henning and you will be good to go.. leo
  8. Good point about junk in the barrel. I hadn't thought about the safey issue.... Well, hopefully, it won't be a problem I'll even need to worry about. Honestly I think the least of your problems with the V-12 Gold Team is making major with 9mm. I think the real trick is going to be capacity in 9mm. I have a Elite Limited in 9MM and was never able to get over 18rounds in the mags to work reliable. But I have the V-8 in 38SC and easily make major with 7625 and 124/125gr loads with new Armscor SC brass my big sticks hold 29 no problem. Leo
  9. Screw the Rockcrawler get a KTM or a 650X Challenge leo
  10. The EGW one is much tougher. After a while the stock one starts to bend, haven't broken one but why risk it. Also the EGW is just a pin so you wont get slide lock. Leo
  11. They made the first one he sold this one is even lighter and longer then the EGW one. http://www.henningshootsguns.com/shop/eaa.elite.tuning.html Leo
  12. I suspect that your light strikes are due to the Magnum Primers. I use regular CCI pistol primers in my Open gun with no issues of primer flow etc. so regular pistol primers will solve your problem. I think you're right. The CCI magnum primers I was using were old(+15yrs) and I think some were not seated fully(sorry brass with tight primer pockets). I don't seem to have the problem with winchester small rifle primers. EG I was wrong. Just got back from practice and had 6 light strikes out of 200 rounds(WSR primers). I think I need to buy some small pistol primers. BTW, my EGW firing pin isn't flush with my breechface, it is a little short. I may try trimming the firing pin spring to see if that helps. EG I thought on a production gun you couldn't change out the firing pin? But if you are having light strikes why not just use small pistol primers and worst case get one of Henning's X-long firing pins. I didn't think the EGW were any longer then stock just lighter? Leo
  13. Well if I remember right the CZ TS has a semi-round trigger guard and the Gold Team has a squared off. They sell a model for each, probably close but I would think the retention would be off. You can just get a block from Henning instead of the whole holster I am sure. leo
  14. I don't think there are many of the short Eric Gold Teams, or even the 07 standard Gold Teams in the country at the moment. You might be able to talk Henning out of his Leo
  15. Isnt it a wilson? modified to fit? http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/pro...101&s=36993 after i saw that on his gun, its been making me think about doing it. leo
  16. My trigger is currently at 3lbs, 5oz with only some light polishing of contact surfaces - any idea how light a 13lb hammer spring would make my trigger? X-Long firing pin - will that pin work with the firing pin block safety? Or should I just remove it? Recoil spring - I usually shoot 115gr factory Magtech ammo (sometimes WWB). Not sure what kind of PF it's making though. I have 13lb hammer springs in all my Witnesses and it was the biggest improvement to the trigger besides a whole new hard sear and hammer that can be done. The firing pin block safety does not work with Hennings firing pins, most people just remove them anyways. I run a 8lb recoil spring in my 9mm limited with 133PF ammo and its very smooth and a nice feel, probably if I get time ill try a 6lb. I have never run Magtech ammo but out of my CZ Tactical sport with 9mm factory win white box ammo runs about 130pf. The same white box ammo makes close to the same power factor in a Browning High Power. Leo
  17. I find it hard to beat the 4.6 clays load Henning has posted, I just use small rifle primers. I also like a 180gr MasterBlaster load with the same OAL but with 4.2 of clays. Smokes a little when you really get on it but not horrible. I also like the same load in my Edge, not just my Limited 40. Leo
  18. Well I have 9mm mags with and without the spacers. The chrome that came with the gun have spacers. The ones I got from Henning did not have a spacer, both are stamped 9mm. Ill have to check the feed lips but I am pretty sure they are the same for super and 9mm, I don't know why they wouldn't be. I am only talking about full size frame Elite Limited in 9mm and 38 super and Gold Teams. Leo
  19. They made both with and without the spacers for the 9mm full size frame mags. The spacers come out easy though just punch them out with a good punch, I did it to some 40cal mags so i could load longer. I havent done it to my 9mm mags because I havent needed to load them any longer. Leo
  20. If its like the Tanfoglio 1911 we wont be seeing it here. But I am sure after Henning talks with Massimo he will have the scoop on a lot of things.. leo
  21. Are you talking about the frame cuts, taking off the end off the dust cover? of where the recoil spring can be seen? The recoil spring cut is from the factory on the gold team. leo
  22. I have loaded to 1.12 with Zero 125gr JHP without a problem in a limited. I was assuming he was trying to load over 18 in a mag and was having feed problems, not throating problems. leo
  23. What type of putty do you use for that? What do you suggest for a STI grip? I did the putty thing and it worked out great. I used A+B Epoxy Putty http://www.aplusbputty.com . There are a lot of different people who make it, it works for sculpting and will cure underwater. Its easy to sculpt and doesn't stick to your fingers too bad and comes in tan, grey, black. leo
  24. I have been playing around with mine a lot, polishing up the internals. lighter hammer spring, slide lightening, 10lb recoil spring.. next comes the sear and hammer work. I just picked up a power custom jig to give it a try. Also Henning should have hard sears and matching hammers soon that will go a long way to getting a awsome trigger. leo
