tk4
I have a new 1911 frame, but new STI slides fit the frame fairly loose. Do the different brands of slides come with different sized rails? Are there other brands with thicker rails than the STI?
GentlemanJim
I have an SVI and it has about as much extra meat on the bottom rail as I heve seen. Im not a big builder of 1911s...but this type may work for you Hope some gurus chime in Jim
Aircooled6racer
Hello: Is your 1911 frame within specs? The new STI slides usually have lots of meat on the bottom. If your frame has been made using specs from a worn out 1911 that may be your problem. A Caspian slide may work. Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric
Action Pistolero
Send it to Doug Jones and have it railed. STI slides have the most meat on them so railing would be the way to go.
tk4
I was hoping that others had more meat than STI. How much is the railing?
speculatorking
Doug charges $215 I believe, plus shipping.
dohboy
What type of 1911 frame do you have? Most custom frames come with over sized rails.
tk4
What type of 1911 frame do you have? Most custom frames come with over sized rails. The frame was given to me. I think it was designed to be a drop in fit. It will probably work as is, just a little loose, but I was hoping I could have it custom fit. wide45
Unless there is something special about your frame, you can replace it for less than a rail job. http://www.fosterind.com/index.php?option=...7&Itemid=53 I fit up a couple of Para frames, by swaging down the rails. It is not that difficult. Just don't let anyone squeeze the slide. That's the very old way that does not hold up.
