While I am not a big country fan in general I do like some of the old stuff. Just about anything by Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash or Hank Sr. is really good. For years Eddie Arnold was my uncle's business partner and he has always meant a lot to my family. It was a shame to see him go. When my daughters met him they both asked why everyone seemed to act as if Eddie was a "big deal." There was no disrespect in the question they just had no idea who he was. Remembering the greats who built the foundation for what we enjoy today is definitely a worthwhile cause.

Good topic.

Recently I've been addicted to YouTube where you can not only hear some of those great oldies, but you can also see some taped "live performances" by those folks. I don't know where the videos came from but somebody has them. You can also listen to some of these oldies in digital quality which is a little nicer than most used vinyl. I was listening to Eddy Arnold just a few hours ago, actually. :)

Grew up in the era of New Wave and Punk Rock, but my Pop liked the old Country music. it is now the ONLY country music I really enjoy. (although I do like Bluegrass, the speedmetal of country) There is no denying the quality of that old stuff, it just gets into your head. I will find myself singing those songs for days.
