Dirty guns can talk

Probably old hat for a lot of people here but I thought it might help someone....

In this picture there are two feed ramps, the one on the left looks pretty good and the one on the right is telling us that problems are coming/here. Notice that the bullets are wiping the gunk off the feed ramp where they contact it, the one on the left has all of the gunk knocked off from about center in elevation and up as well as having all the bullet strikes pretty well centered on the ramp. This is good, things are working like they should. The one on the right has the marks all over the place. In this particular case the gun has magazine issues that need to be addressed but that isn't the point. The point here is don't be so quick to start cleaning your guns, take them apart and LOOK at them while they are dirty. You cannot see things anywhere close to as easy in a clean gun so just take a minute to look it over before you rabidly sterilize it. If you aren't sure what you are looking at that is fine too, just take note of what you see and look for changes in the future. If you see something that is different you will probably want to consult someone that knows more about it and see if it is a problem. Little things can go a long way toward making sure you can count on your gear.

Glad you guys found some use in this post.

That is a CZ barrel on the right. The barrel on the left is an Open gun, and it only has about 1300 rounds through it since it was cleaned. It is usually a LOT dirtier.....
