I have been very interested in the iPhone for some time now.I'm on it now checking out the Internet, the keypad and ease of use. Never into sophisticated phones as I'm no tech geek, but this thing rocks! If you use a cell phone, play mp3's, or enjoy the internet, its all right here and exceptionally easy. Just amazing how the keypad learns how I type and just picks the correct letters to spell the words I'm typing! This is the patek philepe or maybach of phones in my opinion! I strongly recommend you guys/gals give this thing a good 20-30 minutes and see for yourself. I haven't been this excited about an electronic gizmo since the atari 30 years ago. Ok, off to see what porn looks like.... Just kiding... Maybe ;)

I've been on mine for a week and I'm really happy (hell, this post is being made from one.) I isn't flawless, but it does so many things so well I really can't think of being without it. It is going to make meeting travel that much easier now that I don't have to take two laptops.

If you are on the fence about it, don't hesitate. You'll like it.

When they are easily unlocked and commonly available I am there... I don't mind the price as much as they are forcing the "new" 2 yr. contract on buyers. <_<

i don't have an issue with that considering i've been with cingular/at&t for over 6 years. coverage may suck in some places but that can be said about every other carrier.

I checked out my friends Iphone last Friday night and it is really cool, but BlackBerry does everything I need right now.

A professional journal I subscribe to said to wait for the next generation of Iphones as the bugs will be worked out.

I don't remember what they thought the problems were.

My buddy really likes his but agreed they were more for entertainment than business.

What's interesting is that you buy the phone on a non-subsidized price; must accept a 2 year contract; and get hardware that is locked to prevent usage with another vendor (except in nations where such a practice is illegal).

What I like about T-Mobile is that they will give you the unlock code for any equipment you get from them after your bill remains current for 90 days. If I could have bought an I-phone with provider flexibility, 1 year contract I got from T-Mobile, and generous "unlock" policy I would have seriously considered getting one.

after talking with some tech geeks, they told me there are so many hacks for this phone, and that as lot of people are opening up the case and switching SIMs, Unlocking the phone, adding applications, and if you do the right research, you actually can use your t-mobile or cingular account. there is also a pre-pay plan available simply by failing the credit check. A lot of people are using a social security number of 999-99-9999 and accepting a prepay option to stay off the 2 year contract. Also, the friends Iphone I was using was a previous cingular user and he had his rollover minutes added to his new plan. He does work for one of the largest video games Co's. in the world and is on a corporate account, but I don't think that was why he got to keep his rollovers. I will wait for the next gen though. Prices are already dropping a little bit. enjoy your iphones!

I have an acquaintance who unlocked his iPhone and changed it to another carrier. It is easy to do, and I have the website if anyone is interested, PM me.

That said, you CAN NOT allow iTunes to automatically update your iPhone with new software, otherwise the phone supposedly gets messed up.

Simple cure, unlock it, switch it over to your carrier via a process you do on your phone YOURSELF, and decline updates when asked.

EZPZ!!

Me, I was and am a Cingular/AT&T customer.

iPhone has it OWN internet access.

Can you use the iPhone like an aircard for your PC to get online, I would say NO!

I can with my Blackberry 8800 :). It's not in the same speed as an aircard (115k vs about 700k), but I get unlimited data on my Blackberry as a $20/month adder to my cell plan, whereas an aircard would run about $70/month, and not give me phone or handheld email.

It's probably more necessary with a Blackberry since web browsing is not in the same league as the Iphone (the Blackberry is primarily an email appliance), but it's nice to be able to park myself in an airport waiting area and use a full sized PC to catch up on email and the forums.

Also, I can upload EzWinScore results to the web using my laptop and a Blackberry.

There IS a new hack that was posted this month where you CAN tether your iphone to your laptop. ( Can't find the link now.. tired from roof raking  for you southern folks, roof raking consists of pushing 22"of snow off the roof before the rain tomorrow turns it all to ice.

You still have the deal with the slower network for data, but it is possible now, if you are willing to run the risk of having your service terminated if AT&T finds out. :angry2:

Rob, I'm a blackberry user too..
