John Thompson
I looking to plate the stainless frame on a para. I don't want to pay a lot and don't need hard chroming or anything, something as durable as regular black oxide would be sufficient.

TDean
Like said above, try Ion-Bond. Go thru Taran. Let us know how it turns out. They coat the nozzles of sand-blasters with Ion-Bond, so it's apparently tough stuff.

Kory
Brownell's sells a cold-black for stainless I believe. I haven't tried it, but I bet that's about as cheap as it gets.
Mick
You can blue stainless these days if you have the right chemicals. I blued some STI mags a while back. It holds OK but wear shows faster than carbon/blued steel....
Resjudicata
I've coated two of my single stacks with Norrell's. (My STI Edge is going to get it soon). http://www.molyresin.com/molyresin_about.asp It's fairly tough for an oven cured coating. The great thing is that if I do get a scratch I can clean it, spray it and rebake it. Looks as good as new. And I haven't had to do that yet. My SA Operator I shoot in L10 has had about 5k rounds through it along with a ton of dry fire draws and mag changes since I coated it the middle of last summer. The only thing that could use a recoat is the inside of the magwell. Chris
Nemo
Canyon Creek will coat it with KG for you. Check out the black finish on my two single stacks at The Gallery. That's Rich's work.
John Thompson
Brownell's sells a cold-black for stainless I believe. I haven't tried it, but I bet that's about as cheap as it gets. I checked in with a Brownell's tech and he said the original SS frame would have to be sandblasted firts, At that point I want someone who has a less chance then me of screwing it up. I'm gonna try KGcoatings.

Spaceghost
You can use Duracoat. Brownell's sells kits or get them right from http://www.lauerweaponry.com/ I have had good luck with using this on various guns.
