RH45
I'm looking for an accurate, light load I can run in my "shorty" open gun. It has a light recoilmaster in it, so I would think almost anything would function. I'm currently running Zero 125 grain hollowpoints with 8 grains of VVN-350 for my "major" IPSC load. I would like to continue running the Zero bullets, just because that's what I have on hand. I have WW231, IMR4756, and Clays, by my loading bench available. Maybe some of the action pistol crowd can help me out? Thanks, in advance for any help!
shred
Lots of loads posted here.. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?act=Search&f=72 Searching on 'steel and supercomp' will turn up some, a lot more if you just search on 'steel'
Harmon
win 231 would be the stuff for minor power steel loads in the super comp.
gm iprod
Try 4.6gr 231 under the Zero 125gr JHP. Load to around 1.250". This should run about 1025 fps??? Work up a little if the gun won't cycle.
RH45
Last week, a fellow shooter suggested 4.4 grains of Clays behind the 125 JHP. I loaded a few and shot them for function and accuracy. They seem fine, but, I haven't had a chance to chrono them to see how slow they are going.
outerlimits
4.3 of VV320 gets me 962 fps...with a 115gn montana gold...
blackdragon
I loaded 4.9gr WW 231 with a 124gr FMJ, for the handgunner, Last time I shot it. Depends on if you have to knock the steel down. Ivan
DJPoLo
I'm using 6.6 grains of 4756 under a 121 grain HAP. It should make a sweet steel load with your 125 Zeros as well. -Chet

The fired cases came out with smoke on the sides of them.
Harmon
try a faster powder for the steel loads. 5.2 grains universal clays and a 115 seem to work pretty good, 231 is also a good powder too
shred
Yeah, low-charge-weights of 4756 (6-7 gr) are sooty.. they shoot soft and accurate for me. I still occasionally look for really good clean steel loads, but nothing I like yet. Titegroup is a little better soot-wise, but fired cases are way hot. ong45
I have all but given up finding a clean load for super minor. Ever notice how much crud builds up in your comp compared to major? I'm thinkng 9mm might be the way to go here. James
RH45
I went to the range with a chrono and also had my wife video tape while I was shooting. 4 grains of Clays behind a Zero 125 jhp was running at 987fps. 4.4 grains of Clays behind a Zero 125 jhp was running at 1105fps With the 4 grain load, the camera showed no muzzle movement off the sandbags at all. The gun used was a Bedell "shorty", with a titanium comp.

Harmon
i just shot steel challenge match with universal clays at 4.8 grains and a 124 grain berrys bullet IN A 9MM. i bet in a super you would need 5.5 grains or so to get the same velocity. the load shot great, is clean and isnt loud compared to other loads.
