travail
Anyone experienced this? Loaded quite a few 9mm rounds, case gauged them all, then put in an ammo case that goes with me to matches. Had a couple ammo related jams and those cases would not even come close to passing the case gauge. Would humidity over time cause this? First time I had that issue. I rechecked all rounds in that box and maybe had 1 or 2 per 100 checking what was left in the travel ammo case. Also checked several hundred that never left the house and those all gauged great. Only thing I can come up with is weather or perhaps a reload session I forgot to case gauge which I find unlikely. Thoughts?
Postal Bob
More likely them being in hot weather within an ammo case, caused them to expand enough to cause failures.
Farmer
Did you measure OAL to see if they grew or if it was something else, like maybe a poor crimp you may have missed?

shred
Humidity is not it, but answering the other questions can help narrow it down.
travail
These are 9mm minor loads at 1.120” using 5.4gr CFE. I did not measure to see if they grew but the chamber on this gun is very long so would have to grow quite a bit for that to be an issue. Crimp seems good and these don’t get anywhere near compressed. My best way to explain is it looks like Glock brass or prior major brass that wasn’t resized BUT they all case gauged this winter. Sig
Jacketed or lead? Alloys with high antimony content have been said to grow in diameter over time.

9x45
I've had an occasional 9mm pass case gage, but not plunk test, and vice versa. Always plunk test.
AlbertCampion
When I go to a tournament I keep my ammo in a small cooler, to maintain ambient temperature.
