vgdvc
Hello. Has anyone experimented with 135 grain for 9 major and have experiences to share with this? Thanks
Sarge
A scant few have tried 147’s so I would look for those recipes and see what you can learn.
zzt
Not worth the effort. 135 and 147 require less powder, so less gas and more muzzle flip. 124 is as heavy as I'll go, and then only if I have no choice.
MaX_1
135g works good for PCC, in Open 124, you are looking for more gas that "help" the comp to work
gng4life
At one time, I could only find 135 and 147s for my 9Major. I tried both and didn't like either. Of course, the 135 was a little better than that 147 but still, both had a strange recoil feel and the dot was really jumpy. If it's the only thing you have, it will work. However, lately, most weights are available so not really worth the time.
CalTeacher
You won’t find very many people who shoot anything heavier than 124s in open. Try some 135s and see what happens…who knows, maybe you’ll stumble onto a great recipe.
vgdvc
Thanks all for the feedback. I use that weight for my 38 super loads but I'm going to be venturing into 9 major for open now. Looks like I will stick with 125 or lighter. I certainly don't mind experimenting when primers are more plentiful so I figured I'd post the question before chasing down a wrong rabbit hole.
