Looking to get a sro direct milled on a s2. Does anyone here have any feedback on long term durability for work done by Cajun gun works or fire4effect?

What do you mean by long term durability?

It's machining work.  There's nothing to wear out.

I read somewhere on slides cracking, maybe they were outliers. I'm assuming that might be due to slides being lightened to meet the old CO weight limit but was curious

Also wondering how secure the cuts are for the sro. I had some issues on another gun going the plate route with the optic coming loose so I was hoping to see feedback from long term users going the milled route.

Might be personal preference, but any preference over Cajun VS fire4effect rdoms if anyone's tried both?

I've had tens of thousands of rounds through Trijicon optics on CZs that have both been direct milled (P-09) and with CZ's plate system (P-10F).  I've never had a screw come loose.  Nor has anything cracked.

My slides have been milled by DP Custom and by Slideworks Engineering.

99.9% of those loose screws are user error.

Thanks for your input. Yea I've tried different screws, torque wrench, loctite, etc. It'll be good for about 1000 rounds then have issues. Some of the aluminum plates have stripped as well previously. Haven't had issues with glocks or milled guns so I'm looking at options for direct milled on this s2

What pistol, optic, is it milled or did it come with a plate system.

Something is severely wrong or you're doing something severely wrong if you can't get screws to stay tight.

Yeah, I had issues with alum plates also. I will only use steel ones now. CZC does offer a steel plate for their cut now.

I have an S2 slide cut by CGW for my SRO. Not quite a year on it, but have shot many 1000's of rounds through it. No issues at all. I did not have any other lightening mods done.

Really? I am surprised CZC RDS system would have issues after 1,000 rd. Mine has gone through way more than that. I like the czc system. You probably can give them a call to find out the issue.

Yea this is not a knock on cz custom as lots of people have had great success with the rds plates and its an awesome concept. I'm running the steel plates now. Hopefully better luck with these but am still looking to go direct mill for another gun

I just sent one of my Shadow 2s off to Primary Machining. Their delivery times are not the best but I have heard from reliable shooters that their work is great. I rather wait then have to play the gunsmith game sending poorly done milling back. I think Primary Machining focuses a lot on S2s and has it down as well. Also, they sell slides direct but you may have to fit it to your lower. I will post pics later.

I went with Fire4Effect in the summer of 2019 when they first came out with their mounting system for the RMR/SRO.  I’ve since shot that gun over the last 2 seasons with no issues whatsoever, loss of zero or any concerns with the slide cuts.  F4E did the lightening cuts bc back then the 45 oz rule was still in effect.

In 2020 had my second Shadow 2 done up the same by F4E.  I had them do the slide cuts even tho by then the weight limit was raised just so the two guns would be exactly the same.  Again, no issues or concerns.  While I recognize other custom shops have figured out their own ways to mill the narrow Shadow 2 slide to accommodate the wider screw hole pattern of the RMR/SRO/HS footprint, there’s a lot of meat holding the mounting screws the way F4E does it which gives me peace of mind.
