Bakerjd
Tossing around the idea of a commander length open gun using an extra Cheely commander frame I have sitting around. Will be minor PF only. I have heard of using a full size 5" slide and cutting it down to commander length. Wondering if anyone has insight on this setup? Or just use a commander slide. Also what guide rod set up is better. Aircooled6racer
Hello, I have a 2011 standard frame that I am using a cut down 5" slide that is close to commander length. It is not an open pistol but a 9mm limited pistol I built for IDPA that uses a bull barrel. Fun to shoot and very accurate. Thanks, Eric
Dan Sierpina
If the frame is a Commander frame, get a Commander slide. The frame is different than a Government model. The vertical surface where the slide impacts is farther back than a Government frame. Talk to your chosen gunsmith prior to purchasing any more parts.
