TacticalReload
I want to change the spring weight on my G34 for IDPA SSP, but the rules state that I can't swap the rod with one that is made of a material different than factory. I know I could just shoot ESP with a steel rod instead, but I'd rather not since I'm not classified in ESP. Where can I get a plastic rod? Or can I modify the factory rod to work with an aftermarket spring? Anyone make one of their own? Thanks in advance.
dfwmiket
Check LoneWolf Distributors, Custom Glock Racing, or Glockmeister.....I'm pretty sure one of them will have what you need. I've bought from all of them, and all give good service..... Mike
Nik Habicht
I've had good luck running a Glock with the stock rod, with the retainer removed with a pair of pliers. It takes a moment or two of fiddling, but you can pull it off. WARNING: WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN PERFORMING THIS MANEUVER.
cpty1
What Nik said. The stock guide rod has both a captured and non-captured option....just probably not both as originally designed Edited October 19, 2005 by cpty1
txaggie
A pair of pliers on the "cap" of the stock guide rod will pull off the end. In order to get cap off my original guide rod, I locked the slide back and took a pair of wire cutters and cut the tip off. Worked great for me, YMMV. I left a small dent in my wall doing it the "other" way! -Larry
Kevin Kline
Definitely wear glasses and watch where it flies! But you can swap out the spring and keep the stock rod.
