My new one has a stainless guide rod, aluminum trigger and magwell. Pleasant surprise, I was expecting a poorly fit magwell like my original but it is nicely done.

So the magwell no longer needs to be blended? Could you take a picture of that? I'm curious to see what they changed.

Has the frame been modified and blended, or is this a newer better fitting magwell?

Looks like they changed the frame, it doesn't have the two rear corner protrusions like the older ones. It still looks like there is still enough of a ledge that I would still blend it in further.

So the question of the day, if you had an opportunity to buy a used, older generation one, with 4 magazines with extended baseplates, LIKE NEW condition with less than 250 rounds through it, from a close friend/reputable seller, for $1,500...would you do it or buy a new one?

I’ll do it in a heartbeat!

  • 2 months later...

new ones = metal trigger not plastic, shadow 2 safety not this old blocky style, shadow 2 style adjustable mag release, and trigger guard design differences which probably don't matter UNLESS you want to run an Alpha X race style holster which retains on the trigger guard.  then its a critical detail and you need to pay attention to what holster / gun model you are buying or it won't work.

Other than that, the rest of the gun and internals should be pretty much identical.
