Discolored brass

I have a friend dry tumble my bass as I live in a apartment so I can't speak on what he did or didn't do but has anyone every had the brass come out like this? It's not all of it just some and I plan to still use it for practice ammo unless someone has a good reason not to.

Dumb question is did he leave it in long enough to clean all of it? Could be that the ones that are clean didnt need as much time in the tumbler to clean it.

If you are like me and pick up outside range brass that's about 100 years old then I need to tumble it much longer than once fired freshly picked up brass the same day.

I had a load of brass look like that because I tumbled it Too Long.      

 

I'd try tumbling for a half hour with some liquid cleaner/brass polish in with it.

Hard to see in your picture but looks to me that you have aluminum and steel cases mixed in with brass .

That’s fine. Run it. Won’t hurt anything.

 

I run a load with worn out walnut media from time to time and come out with those. It doesn’t matter what it looks like as long as it’s been smoothed and won’t chew up your dies.

Looks like the few times I tumbled with walnut with no polish added.

 

Should work fine.
