A buggy of mine just sent me pics of his SA converted to SAO, He's using it for steel challenges only.

uses an Accushadow for Production USPSA matches.

It got me thinking about maybe trying it with mine as well

who's done this here and how did it go?

better /not worth it/ problem free?

Converting over to Single Action Only can be accomplished with the removal of the disconnector.

If you don’t have a starter punch (or a very good set of punches), you will break a lot of punches getting the pins out to remove the disconnector.

That being said, I have also heard from friends that to improve take up in SAO is to install the oversized Cajun T3 disconnector and hand fit it to remove some slack at Single Action.

That being said, I tried SAO when I was putting back together my SP-01 and removed the disconnector, and there was a lot of Single Action slack to take up before the trigger breaks the shot.

I did, and I prefer mine that way.  Even after trying the CGW reach reduction kit and also getting the SA take-up really short, I just wasn't liking the DA as much as on my regular SP01 Shadow, and the S2's single-acttoin just feels too far back on the rear 'wall' for me.  So even though it's still minor caliber, I shoot it in USPSA Limited Minor from time to time but shoot my Shadow 1 in DA/SA for production.  Maybe it's the rake of the upper grip as opposed to the smoother more even rear humor of the SP01.  Anyway, I still like the Shadow 2 as a SAO.

You can just fit the trigger too. $30 or so ans pretty easy.

I left my disco in because i swap between prod and std minor. The travel is really short with a .2mm disco and race hammer.

Removing the disco with the factory curved trigger sucks. The disco stops it travelling forward when the hammer is cocked. Without the disco the trigger can move all the way forward like in DA.

The SAO triggers have a second set screw so it can be adjusted to dial that movement out.

Yes I chose the Armory Craft 'Tactical Sports' aluminum triggers and they have a pre travel screw, so I just take the disco out.  Also, the stock Shadow 2 disco works rather nicely in a regular SP01 Shadow.

I actually owned a TS Blue.  Very nice pistol, but I just jived better with the Shadow 2 and an SP01 Shadow longslide.  SP01 frames in particular just point more naturally for me.

For those who have converted the Shadow 2, what was the reason for not going with the TS or TSO?

Probably a lot cheaper to convert a S2 to SAO than buy a TSO. I like the checking on the S2 frame better than the TS but I like the cleaner look of the TS dustcover over the S2 railed one. Don't know anyone who has a light or some accessory mounted on their S2.
