Rising Sight
http://www.promagindustries.com/springfi.asp Anybody know if the 20rd XD40 mags are legal for Limited? I don't see any dimensions anywhere for them.
Harmon
i doubt they are legal for limited and im sure they probably exceed the 171.5 mm lenght for open as well. this is one thing the XD guys cant get that glocks can, 20 rounds of major power ammo into a 140mm magazine. XD is a good production tool, but if you want to play limited, get a hicap 1911 or a glock. mag capacity is one of the major downfalls of that guns design. Singlestack
Glock mags were not designed to hold 20 rounds either. Somebody will make a base pad just like they did for the Glock to allow 20 rounds in the XD.
TeamGE
The XD was designed for the 9x19 first, and the 40 was an afterthought. The size of the grip determines how wide the mag tube can be. The XD will never hold 20 rounds of 40, (even with an extended base pad, to make it 140mm long) because the mag tube is not wide enough to hold the 40 cal cartridges in a true double stack configuration. Even if the tubes where made from scratch, the grip in not wide enough. Plus, the round count limiting dents at the bottom of the tube will need to be removed if you want to load past them. Scooter
Don't waste your money on ProMag stuff. JUNK!
Singlestack
Beven, What would be your estimate for max .40 capicity in a 140mm XD mag? All neccasary modifications considered.
TeamGE
Singlestack, Maybe 17 - 18 rounds, but I would say reliability would be in question at that point, because of the extra friction involved with that many rounds, and the tube will be bulging pretty far. shred
Think Beretta 92 mags. Same geometry. Interchangeable except for the mag catch hole.
RIIID
I have already done a 140mm .40 for the XD, 15 rounds. As Beven stated the tube is too narrow. It's a Prod./Lim-10 gun. Rich
