biggair
I had my new AR shipped to a FFL near where I live. I was not acquainted with the business but they where a good sized company and the lady I spoke to was very friendly, So to my question, Is it common practice to open up your package to get the serial number off your gun before you arrive to pick it up? Bummy425
Yes and if it's something cool, it will get fondled a bit too. Part of the process.Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
IHAVEGAS
Waited for a custom 2011, got to the store and there was a group of 3 coonfingering & dry firing. Have not been back to that store. The ffl I have used ever since is respectful of other peoples property.

Never happened to me. Mine were still in shipping boxes generally?
Bummy425
That would be over the top. Haven't seen that either, but who knows what goes on behind closed doors. At least it won't hurt the gun.Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
Hi-Power Jack
My AR was still in the box when I picked it up - not real hot on someone opening my gun without me there. Possibility of replacing a part or two? Nope, don't like that, at all
Doc Neeley
The gun has to go into the FFL's bound book so they normally open to get the serial number(s). Dry firing or allowing anyone other than the new owner to handle it is an absolute no-no. If the box is damaged when it arrives, then they wait for the owner to open it to assess any potential damage.
