sandrooney
I am sure this has been beat to death. I did a search and came up with nothing. I got my new GMR 15 and was reading the owners manual and it says to do a minor break in on the barrel. I have only had a couple long guns in my life but have never done this. Is it necessary? Thanks a lot, SR Link to comment
Aircooled6racer
Hello: Shoot the hell out of it on a PCC works for me. Low velocity compared to a high powered rifle. After about 500 rounds then think of cleaning it. Thanks, Eric Link to comment
tattooo
It can't hurt to slowly shoot, patch and repeat a few times for a minor break in especially if the manufacturer recommends it. Link to comment
sandrooney
Thanks, I am just going to chrono. I won't be rapid firing anyway. I did what Eric said on my Seekins Precision 223 and never had an issue. It's very accurate. Thanks again for the help. Link to comment
427Cobra
IMHO Barrel break in procedures come from manufactures who are in the business of selling barrels, just shoot the thing, if accuracy falls off clean the tube, if accuracy comes back great, if not replace the tube, it’s a PCC not a competition bolt gun Link to comment
Tonka
I agree with 427 just that gun, some like the MPX take a few rounds to break in then they shoot great...Can hurt shoot it up... Link to comment
pjb45
It might be here on the forum somewhere, Jake from Accuracy Speaks use to say he would clean his barrel at the beginning and then at the end of a season. I have had 3 JP barrels. All were fine with my break in process, similar to aircooler. Link to comment
RileyLV
Has any manufacturer specified exactly what they mean by "Break In"? Link to comment
