Hornady American dies

I realise Hornady's "American" dies are not exactly a premium offering, but would their carbide 3 die set represent an acceptable option for loading somewhere around 2000 rounds of 9mm on a progressive press each month? Or should I stick with something better?

Any die brand will work.

 

In my opinion Lee provides the best bang for your buck when it comes to dies.

I have some RCBS, some Hornady Americans and some Lee dies. I'm not a very experienced reloader but they all get the job done.

I bought some because I was just going to load a few 40's for a friend.

I went back, and bought something else, either Hornady, or Lee, cant remember.

Lee's are impressive compared to them.

And I like Lee

I've been using Hornady's New Dimension which works great and is priced pretty cheaply compared to other offerings:

That said, when I was researching, pretty much every brand had its fans. The only thing that really differed much was the seater where everyone seems to agree Redding is the easiest to use.

I've been using the New Dimension dies in 40 for about a year. I've loaded 10k rnds and they work great. Just follow the directions when setting them up and you won't have any problems.

I thirdly vote for the New Dimension dies.  I also load in .40 and they have worked fine.  

 

I may be a new reloader, but they were easy to follow the directions and setup and use and I haven't had any issues with them.  That's what I look for in items like this.  Yes, they have to be accurate and work, but they also shouldn't be a pain in the arse to use or have issues and they haven't.

My vote is for the Lee 4 die sets. The 3 die sets are very delicate as to needing to be exact to seat and crimp at the same time. At least my Hornady set was this way. The Lee 4 die sets are similar to the Dillon sets but 30% less cost.
