mscott
Guess it's my turn for an STI slide problem. Decided to clean my Matchmaster and noticed a chunk missing under the extractor. I've never seen any posts on here of that spot being a problem, so though I'd post it and see. I haven't had any feeding or other issues with the gun and have no idea how long ago it may have happened. I'd guess at least 1k rounds ago since I've cleaned it, but for all I know it could have been the last round of my last practice session. I'm guessing STI will take care of it, but if it doesn't cause any issues I'll not worry about it just yet. Anyone else seen this happen?
AWLAZS
It happens all the time, smooth out the sharp edges and don't worry about it
mscott
That's good, I was thinking it's not a critical area. Thanks for the reply. I've been shooting Glocks until last year, so not too familiar with common issues unless I see them posted on here.
WAlamo
Does it still works or did you end up sending it to STI?
mscott
Never caused any problems, so no reason to do anything with it.
theWacoKid
I've cracked slides there in that corner. Left alone I'm not surprised a chunk falls out. I started cutting that whole area out of slides so there's no corner for the crack to start. As long as the crack doesn't get to a more critical place it's totally fine. corny
If you are going to send it in now is the time. STI is running a batch of Matchmaster slides. I know this because mine in in for a new slide. They called me a told me they were gearing up to run a batch, I am in line.
Foxbat
Things do not break for no reason. Something made it break, and that "something" might still be there, so I would definitely send it in.
