SV, 40 Major Load Needed

I am looking for a load data for .40 Major shooting 180 JHP (Montana Gold) out of an Infinity with a Schuemann Ultimatch barrel. The powders I currently have to work with are Titegroup and Autocomp. Primers are CCI and Winchester.

Use the TG - it's a faster powder - any primers are fine.   

Use a Chrono to work up your load, slowly, but before you load too many,

or too hot, make sure you're NOT getting any bullet setback - push the

bullets hard against your reloading bench and re-measure them with

your calipers.

Heavy bullets, fast powders and bullet setback = kaboom.

 My titegroup load is 180 blues on 4.4gr

at 1.18. 168-169pf out of a 5" gun.

 

I am switching powder when I run out of titegroup.

+1 on n320. I'm using 180 sns coated at 1.18 and down to 4.7 grains. Smooth as butter. Not nearly as smoky or snappy as titegroup

4.5 grains of Titegroup with a 180 gr FMJ at 1.180 oal used to get me around 170 pf out of an Edge.  I would start at 4.5 grs then work up in increments of .2 grain until the desired pf is reached.

What powder are you switching to?

Not sure... I have 4000 loaded 40s and I shoot open primarily so 4K will last a good long while. N320 is what i am considering.
