Actually, Akai confirmed it is a Dawson with a detachable/ replaceable shield. I just ordered 2 from them. Does any one know how to refinish the aluminum shield black? Anodize? Who does it? Is there a DIY solution? Thanks
Can someone recognize this blast shield and tell me were to get a replacement? Gun is an Akai Shogun model, popple blast has severely deformed the original shield. Yes, I emailed Akai, waiting for their response...
I was reading the manual of my 1050, and to my amazement it recommended using the large powder bar. I have been using the small one for the last 5 years!!! I usually load .40 S&W, 38super and .45 ACP.
I thought the large one was to be used while loading rifle calibers. Is there any advantage regarding consistency to use the large powder bar? or should I stick to the old saying: "if ain't broken don't fix it"
TIA
The machine is running ok, there is barely enough space for the dillon nut to clear the shellplate retainer. It takes more effort to resize though!
In order to place the die I first had to disassemble the rod that adjusts the seating depth of the primers because there was not enough space to tight the nut.
The operation is not smooth, but I'm not trying to break a record and the police brass I use is FREEEE
I bought a EGW U die in .40S&W and I have set it in the second stage of my 1050 after the Dillon resizing die (first stage). The problem I have is that if I set the U die low enough (so it almost touches the plate) I ran out of threads on the top and I can't secure it in place. I can't secure it below either because it interferes with the plate securing assembly.
I'm sure that somebody has figured out this problem.
What am I doing wrong?
TIA
Hi,
I just bought 4 Lb of Titegroup after researching the forum. Can someone provide me with the starting point for a load in .40 S&W using 190gr plated bullets that makes major? I use them in a SV and I load 1.220 long. I just swiched from W231.
TIA
