mach1soldier
Building a 1911 SS rig for uspsa. I know single stacks are legal with a light rail as long as shorter then 3.25 from rear of slide stop. Is it legal to have a dust cover just as long but without a light rail? Still shorter then 3.25 of course. Edited November 9, 2016 by mach1soldier
trp
I believe it's legal
js1130146
Will it make weight with that dust cover?
PatJones
What caliber? Would be tough to make weight in 9mm. Dunno about 40, but weight shouldn't be a problem if it's a 45.
JayWord
I think you might want to get a ruling from DNROI. If you read the rulebook, the sentence starts with " Factory installed light rail attachments", I do not see any way to attach a light to that as presented. It would be a shame to build a gun that is not legal, whether it makes weight or not. Jay
Gary Stevens
The intent of the rule was to have the dust cover and the light rail to both be no longer than 3.25 inches. In hindsight I could have worded it a bit clearer. Edited November 12, 2016 by Gary Stevens
mach1soldier
Thanks Gary. Figured it would be okay. I'll bring it to nationals and worse case I win open right? its a .40 and will make weight. Edited November 12, 2016 by mach1soldier
Gary Stevens
Sometimes Open at the Single Stack has some good competition:) Hope you stay out of there.
bofe954
Could you just machine a couple grooves in the bottom of the dust cover? I don't think they are attaching lights in the chrono area to see if rails are functional...
mach1soldier
Yes I could machine rails but the goal is to keep weight forward. I'll just email and ask
