Mhall
Looking for STARTING loads for 9 major. I will be using 115 gr bullets, out of a TruBor. I'd like to hear where you started. I'm new to 9major so I'd like to start at a safe place and work my way up using my chrono and checking for pressure signs. I have a few known good loads from trusted sources, but would like to hear where you all STARTED developing loads with a particular powder. Please include powder, charge and OAL. Bullet type would be helpful to get an idea what I'll see with that setup. Thanks in advance!
Hi-Power Jack
I started with 115 gr MG JHP's over 8.5 grains HS6 @ 1.145". Found it easier to load 124's - less powder - fewer grains "spilling" during the reloading process. Switched to 6.8 gr WAC under 124 gr MG JHP at 1.165". olemiss
8.7 g of 3N37 under a MG 115 g JHP at 1.165 inches. I currently run 9.0 g 3N37 at 175 PF. 8.8 g of HS6 under a MG 115 g JHP at 1.165 inches. I currently run 9.2 g of 3N37 at 174 PF. For Steel Challenge, I run 7.5 g HS6 under a MG 115 JHP at 1.145 inches.

It's one of the slowest powders which can make major in 9x19 and Vihtavuori even lists a load for 9x21 which makes major and can be loaded in a 9x19 case: 9.4gr under a 115gr JHP @ 1.161" makes 1483 fps (171pf). It also doesn't hurt that it gives you a fantastic amount of gas to work the comp. I'm planning on starting with 3n38 and 115's once I get my barrel chambered
Garmil
AA7 is also on the safe side for 9 major loads and works comps well.

AA7 also has book loads for 38 super that make major with 115's and 124's. While it's not 9 data that's more than you can find for most powders we use to make 9 major. With HS-6 and 115 cmj's I easily made 170+ pf with 8.4 gr at 1.157" oal so I'd suggest starting a grain below that to work up from slowly.

There is 9x21 data with aa7 that makes major as well and the oal listed works for 9x19 with same case capacity
kcd19
I just did the exact same thing (wanting to start at a base load and work up). These are all 5.5" barrel, no barrel holes, Winchester SPM primer, mixed 1x brass. Silhouette 7.0g - 124 Precision Delta JHP - 1.165 OAL - PF166 Silhouette 7.4g - 115 Precision Delta JHP - 1.165 - PF162 Autocomp 6.6g - 124 Precision Delta JHP - 1.165 - PF167 Autocomp 6.8g - 115 Precision Delta JHP - 1.165 - PF160 HS6 7.2g - 124 Precision Delta JHP - 1.165 - PF160 HS6 8.0g - 115 Precision Delta JHP - 1.1.65 - PF162 The biggest thing I have found is to track the feeling of how the bullet seats. Anything less than the "right" amount of resistance [neck tension], I am setting those aside to disassemble and discard the brass. Nothing unexpected in the way of pressure signs, primers were starting to flatten around the edges, but nothing of concern, at least to me. The Autocomp loads have been the most consistent in standard deviation. The last batch I tested at 7.0 gr / 124 JHP had an ES of 16 and a SD of 6. Which manual you suggest? Thanks.
