matteekay
...but I'm going to ask it anyway because I couldn't find it in the handbook or on here. Is there a rule against taking a shot in single action when using a DA revolver? Just asking if you could, not if you should, haha.
underlug
Perfectly legal. You will need to block out the hue and cry and gnashing of teeth from those watching you for still having a hammer spur on your revolver.
pskys2
Not a dumb question, NRA Action Pistol Production Division requires first shot of a stage to be DA, ICORE/USPSA don't, just stipulate the hammer must be down in the start postion. Have no idea about IDPA?!
kevinj308
not unheard of on far and near string 1, a lot of cursing isn't unheard of either. just saying lol
Alaskan454
Perfectly legal in ICORE. As for IDPA, I recently shot an entire match in SA due to user induced ammo problems. It was painfully slow but I'm assuming legal since I was shooting with our match director who knows the rules quite well. He probably would have said something. GOF
It is legal in IDPA. The hammer must be down at the Start command, but can be cocked for shots after the Start signal is given.
matteekay
Thanks, all! Like I said, not something I'd do regularly but could be useful the next time I turn a Texas star into a whirling dervish.
Forrest Halley
I thought he was going to ask, "Do I have to shoot a revolver?" with that title.
matteekay
You know what? That actually would have been dumber, lol.
Toolguy
NRA Action Pistol now says revolvers can only shoot in double action mode. There were a lot of shooters with single action trigger pulls that didn't come up to the minimum. That rule was the best and easiest way to fix the problem. Even the best DA will be above the 3.5 LB (I think) minimum.
