StraightSh00ter
I'm having some work done to my gun and will need to send it out for blasting -it's a stainless 1911 with a glass bead finish. I can send it back to Sig for a reasonable cost, but I'd like something a little more custom if possible (grit options, attention to detail, etc). Any suggestions? Steve RA
Check around at the local GS shops, many people have a bead blast cabinet. Even a lot of auto/bike shops have them.
echotango
For $100 you can get your own at Harbor Freight.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: You can get a counter top blast cabinet for less than $60. As for grit types they all give a different finish and coarseness. Most use aluminum oxide. Thanks, Eric
Dan Sierpina
The blast cabinet is cheap. The compressor needed to feed it, not so much. Add in the possibility of adding a 220 outlet for it.
StraightSh00ter
I have a nice compressor - I like the idea, but I don't know that I want to learn bead blasting on my 1911 or that I really have space for the blast cabinet. I was looking at it a couple of days ago in the store. I really want it to come out pretty, so I'm considering chrome as well as blasting. Aircooled6racer
Hello: Find a blasting media supply place and tell them what you want to do. Don't take the whole gun in but just the slide. They will tell you what you should use. If you are going to hard chrome it then talk to the chroming shop since they can do it for you.
