tcazes
I picked up a trubor chambered in .38 super and a few mags to go with it. I'll be fitting a new t2 9mm barrel since I never shoot .38 so Here's my question The mags are currently for .38 super. I plan to put grams 2.5mm base pads on the mags but what spring and follower kit should I install from grams? 9mm specific 11 coil for the 140s and 13 for the 170? Will I need to order a spacer? If I don't need a spacer then what kit should I order since I read the 9mm specific is only for the use of a spacer.. Just trying to order it all right the first time. Thanks in advance! Paul-the new guy
If you load your 9mm long you "may" not need spacers. There is no need to run any other spacers than the plastic STI ones. I glue them into the mag with RTV but you don't have to. 11 for the 140's and 13 for the 170's is correct although you can run 13 in everything. You can run longer base pads on the 140's if you like as they don't have to fit the gauge. You can try running 9mm in you .38 barrel... Many including myself have done it a lot with no issues at all. DRobson
Go ahead and get the grams 9mm spring/follower kits and use spacers. After almost 3 years of shooting I still can't figure out why people hate the spacers so much.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: The Hardy spacers make the mags drop faster as well. Thanks, Eric
fmj3
I'd get the 9mm followers and spacers. No matter how long you load 'em, that 9mm brass will never consistently reach the 2nd rib on an STI mag w/o a spacer behind it.
OPENB
Grams 11 coil 9mm follower/spring, spacer of your choice, Dawson +1 basepad= 23 in the 140 mags. Substitute 13 coil in the 170, = 29. Tuning can add 1-2 rounds, but mine work 100% as-is.
tcazes
Turns out the grams springs and followers for 9mm WITHOUT spacers worked out flawlessly without spacers and loaded to 1.
bigboy69
I thought the Grams followers are the same for 9 and 38???
tcazes
No they make one to be used WITH a spacer and one to be used WITHOUT. Spring is the same as far as I can tell but the followers are ever so slightly different length. They are two different part numbers
